The Dallas Cowboys have reportedly done this week what everyone expected them to do: Fire Wade Phillips. Bill Jones of CBS-11 in Dallas reports the Cowboys head coach was fired on Monday after his team suffered a humiliating 45-7 loss to the Packers on Sunday Night Football.

Do you think his team quit on him?

Probably had too much on his plate as he was both the HC and DC. I think Wade has shown us that he is a great DC and a mediocre HC. If he wanted to come back to a team that fired him 15 or so years ago and take a demotion to do it, then he would probably do a good job getting our 3 - 4 running. But I am not sure he would wanna do that.

Ya. Marty was on NFL radio earlier today talking about Wade and how he talented he felt he was as a defensive coordinator and said that he gave Wade more freedom and latitude than he had even given Bill Cowher.

Multiple sources have told OffshoreInsiders.com that Wade Phillips will be fired today as head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.

He did not take the team flight home. He flew in Jerry Jones private plane in which he was given the news. Offensive coordinator Jason Garrett will likely take over as interim coach, though expect Jones to make a pitch for Jon Gruden.

The holdup with Gruden is not money, but power over player personnel. Thus an agreement is unlikely as egomaniac Jerry Jones is not likely to give up his GM power. Gruden will choose working with Al Michaels over Jerry Jones, assures our source.

Reminds me of a saying an old wise mentor used to say all the time. "sooner or later we all get promoted to the level of incompetence ".

I wouldn't mind Phillips running the D and McD still tinkering with the O with an experienced hand over them both.

Wade Phillips Fired : According to reports, Dallas Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips, was sacked over an embarrassing loss to Green Bay on Sunday. It is expected that the Cowboys would hold a press conference at 4 p.m. to announce the decision. CBS Sports reported that Phillips has been officially fired. ESPN added that his SUV was not spotted in the Valley Ranch training facility parking lot of Cowboys today. He was scheduled to meet with Jerry Jones today. Phillips was later spotted at Valley Ranch.

“There are a lot of people here who are certainly going to suffer and suffer consequences. I’m talking about within the team, players, coaches, who have got careers. This is certainly a setback. I know first hand what it is to have high expectations,” Jones had said after the loss to Green Bay. Reports noted the Sunday’s game as “the moment Wade Phillips lost his job.”

Linebacker Keith Brooking said that Phillips is not quitting. "Wade is going to keep fighting," Brooking said. "We're not going to lose him. I have so much respect for Wade, the man, [and] that he is the coach, the success that he's had in this league. In saying that, it's none of my business as far as what Mr. Jones is thinking and the decisions he's going to make. I fully support Wade. I believe in him and he's our head coach and that's the only way you can look it.Monday that he didn't think the team had quit,” said Brooking.

Talking about the Sunday’s game, "I didn't feel like guys were loafing to the ball. I haven't watched the film yet, but I didn't get that feeling. I didn't think it was for a lack of effort or for guys quitting on this football team."

Chucky already went thru this when he had Greasy Al as his owner. And Al shipped him outta town. Why would Chucky wanna go thru that again.

Speaking of Raider and Cowboy parallels, Dallas is what Oakland was 15 years or so ago - a tremendous roster full of underperforming talent. And look whats happened to the Raiders over the last 15 years. Its to the point free agents dont even wanna go there.

What you might note is NE having a low payroll. I think what we're seeing is some teams betting on post-labor dispute positioning and other teams actually trying to win a championship now, and the fact that NE is a contender is really a testament to the little empire billicheat has built up there. ps, P.
