I am all for anything that allows us to cut Jarvis Moss. Merriman can come here, suck ass, and do nothing....and it's still a massive improvement over Moss whom can't line up onsides, and loves to help us lose games by pointlessly clipping people on punt return TDs.

Shows how desperate they are to find a pass rush. I guess he can't hurt anything, so worth a look. If you can't generate a pass rush at all, your defense tends to not be very good. And since it seems they want to employ a 3-4 generic defense where they don't send blitzers or move guys around much, then you need guys that can beat man-on-man blocking, which other than Dumervil, they apparently don't have.

Any team that claims former Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman off waivers owes him the prorated remainder of his $3.269 million contract.

The Ravens won't be that team.

Merriman reportedly would love to land in Baltimore, but they would only take him at a reduced cost, if he clears waivers.

"He's a guy we talked about," coach John Harbaugh said on his WBAL radio show Tuesday via the Baltimore Sun. "[G.M.] Ozzie [Newsome] and I had a long discussion today. We'll see if he gets through waivers."

It says a lot about Merriman's value that the Ravens may have interest, but don't think he's worth roughly $1.7 million for the rest of the season. Unlike Randy Moss, we doubt a boatload of teams will put in a waiver claim on Merriman.

San Francisco sounds like the most likely destination to us. If he passes waivers, it sure sounds like Merriman may have a chance to join a Super Bowl contender back near his hometown.

Here's one that's not untrue, actually. A few years ago, Rhymes gets really, really drunk. It turns out, he's harboring some homosexual tendencies - not that there's anything wrong with that. The alcohol lowers his inhibitions, and he posts a bunch of homosexual pornography here, hoping to make contact with like-minded Maners.

When he wakes up, he frantically tries to delete his posts, but finds he's been banned for his drunken posting bonanza. I'm not sure how long the ban lasted, but it was a long, long time. When he finally returned from his hiatus, he tried to act like none of it happened. For those of us that were on the Mane that night, it became Mane lore.

I've heard he's gone back in the closet, a little. It's sad, because I really think he would be accepted here. No one should have to live a secret life over that kind of thing.
