What is our identity as a team? It used to be running the ball, but we can't do that at the moment. Orton is putting up big numbers, but the points are not coming with it. We need to find something we do well and focus on doing it even better. we can use it as a rallying point for the rest of the season.

We are a passing team with a spread offense aka the run and shoot.

Is Mouse Davis still alive? Bring him in as a consultant, if you're gonna do it do it right!

EDIT:
A quick check of Wikipedia shows he's 78 and still kicking

We're clearly not there yet, but I'm sure the concept is balance, with the ability to pass at will. New England built their championships on being able to do all things well, while not dominating in any one area.

Obviously, we have a way to go.

until 2011, we are still the team that traded away Jay Cutler, BM, Hillis, etc

We're not tough or smart enough.

How about we be really smart about it and combine the two words? That could be this team's identity!

How about smugh? tart?

Smug Tarts?

This is true to some degree at least. I would say those NE teams were built on a strong defense while the offense did enough to win games. They were a savy bunch who knew how to close out games

Identity: a weak-minded team that doesn't play physical and beats itself w/ stupid penalties and costly turnovers.

In other words, a bottom five team in the NFL.

Exactly. That's what McDaniels is preaching and attempting to put in place.

But, as we're seeing... that's easier said than done.

Still, despite the carnage... I think he's done some good things. He's also made mistakes and had some bad luck on top of it.

It is what it is. He'll remain the coach until at least next season and probably longer. I mean... all we can do as fans is hope it comes together for him. If it doesn't, we'll have a new coach to root for. That's just life as a sports fan.

They seem to be pretty good at getting the wrong number of guys on the field.

It sounds like a great plan, but im not seeing it on the field. I understand there is a learning curve and perhapse it's steeper than I first thought. I do see flashes now and again which do give me some hope McD can get this together.

It takes time to assemble talent and depth, but we can work on the "football smarts" part of it now. We seem to be regressing in that area, and I think that is what is most frustrating to me. Coach them up.
