Seriously? Then why did you morons vote for this utter fail of legislation?

The Democratic Senate candidate from West Virginia, Gov. Joe Manchin, says he didn't understand key details of the health care reform legislation when he publicly endorsed it in March — an endorsement he has since withdrawn.
"Reaching as far as they did in the — in the weeds of the bill that we didn't know about, no one else knew about until it came out — knowing that, I would not have supported that or voted for that at that time," Manchin said on "Fox News Sunday."
Asked about areas where he disagrees with President Barack Obama, Manchin cited the health care reform legislation Obama signed in March.
"The health care reform is far overreaching in areas that I don't agree with — the 1099 part of that, the mandates. Also, the firewall's not strong enough for abortions. I'm pro-life. And we're just a different type of Democrat here in West Virginia," Manchin said. (The "1099" reference is to a revenue-raising provision that requires businesses to report more transactions to the IRS.)
While some provisions, such as the new 1099 rules, were not terribly well-publicized at the time, the individual mandate was a central part of the Democrats' health reform legislation for months before it passed. Manchin never quite said he didn't know the mandate was in the bill, but he said again that he would have voted against the bill if he knew what he knows now.
"Knowing the existence as far as how reaching it had been, as far as — and onerous — I would have" voted against it, he said.
"And I think many people didn't know about the bill. It ends up, what, 2,000 pages or more," he added.
Manchin said he agrees with aspects of the bill, like one that eliminates the ability of insurance companies to exclude people with pre-existing conditions, but believes that the rest of the bill takes too much of a command-and-control approach.
"The bottom line is that the incentives should be created, the incentives for health care reform, basically so people can afford health care. You're not going to mandate and dictate to them," he said.

Sheesh.
Everyone knew what was in it except for the politicians, right?
Its these morons' jobs to understand legislation and how it effects their constituents so that they can serve them in the way that is appropriate. This moron cant even perform his basic duties as a politician.
You pretty much have to be brain dead to vote for someone like that. His allegiance is clearly to his national party, not to his constituents.

Were they seriously not paying attention to the public when this whole health care crap was going on? These idiots are going to try and plead ignorance now when their jobs are on the line? Now you have 62% of independents having an unfavorable view of HC law.
These politicians are really pathetic.

They knew that they'd have to lie about it eventually when they passed it.

As is common with politicians these days, they are either lying or idiots. Either way, they are unworthy of serving.

He would have voted for it without even reading it, so that shows just how our politicians are on the ball. All to appease the leftists idiots who obviously didn't want people to read all that was in it before voting. Tells you right there if you have reasons to do this, then obviously there are things that most people would not want or agree with. So they sold a bunch of goods they knew were tainted. Yes, Obama the man of change. Morons.

I don't why you think Manchin is an idiot, because folks that I know that have meet and worked with him have told me that he is extremely smart and guy that more about getting things done then playing political games. He done a very good job of working with both parties as governor of WV.

I think Elsid's political affiliation is more clear then most on this forum. Republican, Democrat, it doesn't matter. As long as the defense contractors are getting paid, Elsid is happy.

Whereas as long as the Koch Brothers are having their way with you and McPinhead, you're both happy.
