"As well they should be upset," said Ryan Clady, the Broncos' left tackle.

"The whole Broncos organization, country, team, fans, players, coaches, owners, from top to bottom, that was an embarrassing performance," said Broncos defensive back Nate Jones in his postgame apology. "From all the players to all the fans, you guys don't deserve that. We will try our hardest to never, ever put a display like that out on the field ever again."

The 59 points were the most scored by the Raiders and tied for the most allowed by the Broncos. The 1963 Broncos started their 2-11-1 season by losing to the Kansas City Chiefs 59-7 at the University of Denver's Hilltop Stadium, which has long since been torn down.

The massacre at Invesco will live on for a while.

"In a word, uncompetitive," McDaniels said. "I think that's the coaching and the playing. We obviously weren't ready to go and never really got ready to go."

Josh is at a cross roads here. Either this picture will define his legacy here in Denver:

...or the one he replaces it with will.

For his sake and ours, I hope he can get this team to respond. We've still got one full week of October left to go, and two full months of football after that. Let's not make this the longest of the longest seasons...

Total train wreck out there. Let's make sure the players get their share of crap thrown on them. Poor tackling, bad angles taken, not protecting the ball, missed asignments, bad communication, and the list goes on. I know McD deserves his share of crap but our players looked like dog **** out there. Passes were dropped, blocking was pathetic, Orton's presnap reads were really really bad (how could he not see McClain lined up to blitz on the left side and then turn his back to him as he gets sacked). A bad game ALL the way around.

Its been a long time since my hope was just to field a competitive team rather than hoping for a win. In fact I've never had that expectation since I didn't start watching the Broncos until the Duke had already entered into fine form(about 1986).

Sigh, this too shall pass I suppose.

I am not happy with Clady today either. Seeing him double team a blocker and let one slip one right past him has been a common occurance this last two years than compared to his rookie season. I hope the players are embarrassed and get to practice before they even get on the plane. Worst week to be going somewhere great like London where they can be distracted.

They're already in London. Apparently they've been there in mind and spirit for a few days now. They just left their meat sacks behind to run mindlessly through their spiritless-motions for the Raider game.

unless they changed the plan at the last minute... the team was going to stay in Denver till Friday and have the full practice/work week here in Denver... and just move everything up a day. (so tomorrow is Monday, but they'll treat it as Tuesday, etc).

I think those plays were added at the last minute. Along with "don't block very good", "turn your back to the obvious blizting LB" and "drop the pass". Josh has got to be fired. What was he thinking when he added all those crap plays to the game plan. All those plays sucked.

Not sure if anyone has noticed - but Josh has really cooled down on the sidelines. Maybe he got a word of advice from BB, maybe from the organization, maybe the fact that he's preaching that you never get too high or too low on your emotions so he's leading by example...

I am not sold their DC is the answer. Sure, they had players out, but they did nothing all game. Drafting for defense will be key, but this organization has a poor record of that going back a decade.

I heard about this on the light rail... apparently someone called him a gutless drunk too! ;D

I do have a friend with some connections and PB was not a happy camper. Unhappy enough that it prompted me to post the "Who?" thread. I doubt it comes to that though. Hell, I woke up this morning feeling a little less homicidal... I'm sure PB feels the same way after a good night's, booze induced coma!

Question, if McD does get fired in the coming weeks or months, does PB have to take a close look at X and even Ellis?

not every game has been a total disaster. think of it this way: we are tied with vikings, chargers, cowgirls after they lose tonight.

if someone was gonna bet that denver and SD would be the 2 worst teams in the divison, id take that at any odds.

SD yeah. But this trainwreck's been a long time coming, and obvious. McDaniels took over a team 15th in scoring and top ten in yardage. He's expened 7 draft picks in the top 50 in two years and added ONE player to the front 7 from those picks. That ain't gettin er done.

I was surprised that he didn't go over and rally the troops at all. He just seemed to stand out there and take the ass pounding like an inmate who realized he can't escape and there is no point to fight it.

As a leader you need to try to say something. They were down 21 quick but you don't pout on the sidelines while the team just gets outright humilliated.

That's it, and that's what you get when tickets, beer, snacks, merchandise, etc, etc, is so damn expensive. I go to minor league baseball games, get the cheap seats and just enjoy an evening out. Add in a cup or two of beer and its still cheaper than a movie, a couple of cokes, and a bucket of popcorn. And I dont really care who wins/loses. But, go to a major pro sporting event? Its insanely expensive, and you want a return on your investment. Its obvious that not every team can go 13 and 3 each year, nor can each team win the SB, but for the prices that are paid for the 'NFL experience', you certainly want better than a 59 to 14 pasting & a very limited chance of success for your team the rest of the year.

I go to MLS games. I go often and they call me with special deals. I got 8 playoff tickets for 80 bucks and will be going to the game with 7 people who I can all buy concessions for reasonably. 80 bucks wouldnt get me alone a seat at a regular season Cowboys game here. They literally have happy hour before the games where you can get solid draft beer for a couple of bucks. Now that's a good time.

I go to Rangers games as well, as they are traditionally very affordable from the tickets to the concessions. Plus, they do alot for charities here so I like 'paying in' persay.

The NFL however, are so rigid with their broadcasts (last season they trolled the web to take down streams), charge exorbitant amounts for merchandise, charge exorbitant amounts for tickets, charge exorbitant amounts for parking, charge exorbitant amounts for concessions, and they do as little for the fans as possible.

I have worked with a local charity for a long time. I have met several Rangers and Mavericks players who bring their charitable foundations out to do stuff for our kids. FC Dallas does the same thing. The star players literally come out, and are usually agreeable regular joe types who enjoy being out there. The Cowboys would schedule events with us, advertise the events as if the star players were coming to visit our impoverished children, and then wouldnt show up. They'd send the players' moms or the mascot or something trite like that. Its pathetic. The NFL is like a parasite just sucking money out of the pockets of our citizens.

Back to the point, if I paid 300 bucks a pop for tickets and close to 50 bucks a pop for concessions and the team acted like they didnt want to be there, I would be furious. I wouldnt come again until they changed the organization.

The NFL isnt about the players. Its about the fans.

The minute that they forget that, they can forget me buying into what they are selling.

Good points.

NFL fans are getting fleeced from a fiscal stand point. And the reason we get fleeced? Cause the NFL can.

We are spending our money using our emotions and our gut and not logic. Every sporting event you discussed, the minor league sports I discussed are a better bang for the buck than the NFL. Heck, even a major collegiate FB program is a better buy cuz they will probably bring in a couple of patsies to squash, keeping their season above .500 and maintaining that ever important bowl eligibilty.

And when I say this, I dont say it like I am better than you, cuz I am not... I have a ton of Bronco swag and have driven hundreds of miles to watch them play. But as long as we continue to buy their overpriced crap, pay exorbiant ticket prices, devote the whole of our Sunday to the consumption of their product, then the trend will continue. And those that spend their money with their emotion (us fans) will continue to line the pockets of those who keep a focus on the bottom line (the owners, networks, and players).

I guess its a good economic lesson that those who have 'gotta haves'; be it football, drugs, cars, 'that house', etc, will always line the pockets of the more level-headed. And as we have seen from the emotional outpouring on this page over the last 24 hours, I dont think much is gonna change any time soon.

But you know what? I have talked myself into taking a drive next weekend with my kids like I keep thinking about and not doing cuz football is on on Sunday.

I hear you, and it's a valid criticism... but Shanahan built his defensive line via free agency, as well... and it won him a Superbowl.

I would have certainly loved to see a couple more front seven picks, but I was also admittedly excited to see the free agent crop we brought in. I thought Williams would make a big difference, alone. I liked the Fields signing. I thought we made some improvements. But, things don't always work out.

We did land what looks like an excellent starting OLB, and already had a great pass-rusher.

If we do anything at all this offseason, we have to get younger on the line. We have not addressed the d-line in a real way for maybe 10 years. When McD got here I hoped that the mentality would change. It hasn't. In fact its gotten worse.

Right now on defense we are old, fading, the lack of depth showed up big time, and I don't see how it improves. I'm not saying that giving up 59 will be the norm, but towards the end of the season, a feeling of helplessness, the feeling I had during the end of '06, '07, '08 and the end of '09, is what we will get. Again.

And picking up street FAs for depth, making poor FA decisions, and not addressing the front 7 through the draft is the reason for that in '10.

Right now, all I want this offseason is a guy that will make front 7 and running game a priority.
