View Full Version : Pass catching TE

We need one...badly. Graham was targeted twice with a drop and an offensive PI call. Quinn & Gronkowski were active which is the best thing I can say about them. I'm not trying to turn this into shoulda kept Scheffler thing, but we need to address this position at some point. This offense doesn't use the TE as much as the previous one, but if we throw it out there we need someone who can catch it. Hopefully we can address this in the offseason, I think we'll be shopping for a new #1 TE anyway might as well get one that can catch.

Thats another thing...

When the **** did you see an NFL game with 3 offensive PI calls? Refs get a memo to make lousy calls all day? WTF.

I would have been nice to have Jermaine Gresham today.

Blah, who needs that?

This offense doesn't need a pass catching TE.

Which is crazy with all the footballs flying around.

Mcd scheme doesn't require pass catching TE's.

If you throw to the TE, you need one that can catch it. The 3 we have are extra linemen.

In Graham's defense, that was a horrible pass on the throwback screen.

Good thing DT put it in a couple plays later.

Grahams pass was badly thrown but we definitely miss having any sort of threat at TE.

Yea, I remember that play. Didn't look very catchable.

But, there may have been one I'm not remembering.

Graham is definitely a blocking TE, primarily. He's got good hands. He actually contributed some key catches last year. This year has been rough for him. But, our problems don't lie in the passing game.

+1 Popps....Our problems don't lie in the passing game! Although it would be nice to have a TE that can catch and take advantage of slow LB's. It would be nice to still have Scheffler though! He made more big catches even being hurt all the time than Graham and his huge contract!

I dunno, that one against the Bears in 07 was something.

4 "big" days in 4 years of playing with Denver.

Hall of Famer, right?

He could catch better than Graham with one arm tied behind his back! Just keep blocking Graham! Overpaid loser! Of course McD-bag probably loves him because he used to be a Patriot!

His scheme don't require a defense either. Well at least the run game got off the bus today. TWO YEARS AGO HILLIS RAN WILD ON THESE JETS, JUST SAYIN.....................

Considering that drive ended in a TD what ****ing difference does it make that Graham did not make an impossible catch on a badly thrown ball that would have gotten 3 yards anyway?

Dick.

Broncos ran for 145 yards today.

Denver ran for 127 yards in the 2008 game.

Just sayin.

Since members of this board continue to make ridiculous statements about ex players. Maybe if we had the 98 squad out there today we would have pulled it out, huh?

Fantasy is fun.

Yes.

You are a dick. Not an honorable one dripping with AIDS, but a small one that likes to spend time with Bob.

The TE in this offense was like the FB in Shanahan's offense. How often did any of Denver's FB's make up a large % of the passing game? Why dont you understand that the TE is never going to be a focal point in this offense?

That is what makes you a small, pathetic, wrinkly microdong.

Dick.

Another great comeback! I'm not asking for Antonio Gates d-bag! Just someone who can be better at catching a ball once in a while. I never said anything about a focal point moron! Once again....check the title of the thread.......DICK!

I'd settle for a run-blocking offensive lineman.

So let me understand this.

You want a guy on the roster who is listed as a TE, but cant block and whose sole purpose for being on the roster is to make an impossible 3 yard catch once in awhile?

And I am the moron?

Way to speak logic, microdong.

Unfortunately he is slower than an asthmatic snail, on that throwback if he had any kind of burst, speed, legs, ability to move, he would have been wide open for a big gain. Orton also tried a downfield pass to him, but overthrew him by a solid 10 yards because Graham is just that slow.

Wow, this thread has really gone off the deep end.

LOL

Since the Broncos work the edges so much, a pass catching threat to add some unpredictability and to work the middle would be nice.

Again, not really getting what I was saying...not surprising though. I just don't want to see an overpaid OL playing TE! The guy makes way more money than necessary for a blocking TE.
I tried to use simple words this time...hope you can catch on to my logic!

Fantasy is fun. So is being a dick that lives here and yet knows nothing. We didn't do dick with the ball in the fourth, did we ?We needed consistent smash mouth run it down their throat in the 4th and we couldn't move the ball when we needed ? That your kind of run game smart boy cause it isn't mine. Take your 13k posts and ................

BTW don't expect today's output to be the norm.

It was actually Shanahan who signed Graham, the overpaid blocking TE in the first place. I worry more about the running game than a TE getting more catches. Would it be nice? Sure, but it isn't costing the team from winning games.

TheChamp24

Graham has got to be gone after the season. Dude has been horrible blocking from my perspective and is no threat at receiving.

colonelbeef
10-18-2010, 07:22 AM
haven't you guys heard?

The offense is now fixed, we don't need to worry about it anymore. 20 ppg and 70 rushing yards per game is now considered to be progress in Denver.

Goobzilla

Zero catches by a RB or TE yesterday. A few checkdowns on the blitzes could have done some good.

Orton's thinking of his response:

What I find amusing is if that fluke PI call was not made yesterday this board would br crowing about running for 145 yards on a team like the NYJ.

**** happens. Im over my fit from yesterday. For the third time this season our mistakes cost us a W in winnable games.

What is with the post count thing lately? Yes, I have 13,000 posts. Considering I actually like the team I dont consider this a bad thing.

It's because you post some stupid crap! Still think we are going in the right direction Donkey! Let's try to hold the Raiders to under 60 when we visit them! Great game plan McD-bag!!
