Another week, another fine for Titans cornerback Cortland Finnegan.

The NFL has fined Finnegan $5,000 for an incident involving Broncos offensive lineman Chris Kuper in Sunday’s 26–20 loss to the Broncos. It’s the same play that prompted Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton to call Finnegan a “dirty” player. Orton accused Finnegan of punching Kuper.

“It’s ridiculous,’’ Orton said. “If that is the type of player Cortland Finnegan wants to be, then he is a cheap player – he is not a good player.’’

Finnegan said he didn’t do anything out of the ordinary against the Broncos, or involving Kuper. Finnegan was not penalized on the play.

"I was just being me,’’ Finnegan said.

Finnegan has now been fined $15,000 over the last three weeks after receiving $5,000 fines in games against the Steelers and Giants.

Is there some sort of system where these guys can get suspended for getting fines like this every week?

Finnegan is halfway through a 4 year deal worth over 16 million dollars.

He makes over 4 million dollars a year, do the NFL really think fining him $5,000 is going to even remotely bother him?

If there is no set system, I think there should be. Being fined 3 weeks in a row really shows what a douchebag moron the guy really is. Being in consecutive weeks the guy should be automatically suspended for a couple games then slap a fine on the coach too. JMHO

I don't disagree with this. I don't know that you should get a couple games for getting fined consecutive weeks, but I'd be down with a one-gamer for two consecutive weeks of fines for the same ****.

I watched that play again now several more times and I think what drew the fine was toward the end, after he jumped into the pile and was trying to wrap his arms around the pile, he grabbed around the back of Kups head, but........he didn't just let go right away. He pulled down on his head with his arm. Not a punch so not a mega dirty play but more of just a punk a$$ play which did deserve a fine.

I think the NFL placing another fine speaks of what type of player he is. Like to see what those Titans' fans now think of their midget.

But Fisher said they play aggressive, not dirty, and if it was dirty, they'd be fined.

Oh... wait a minute...

True - but I also think our LB might get fined for that nice elbow to the helmet. You just know that's what the Titans fans are probably screaming about on their forums.

yeah...

I'm not going to say Finny boy is a clean player but watching the replays on this, I don't think there was much there. If are looking at this objectively, he's really just jumping to the pile and his arm goes across Kupers head as he trys to just grasp or cling to the group of players in the pile. It didn't look like he was throwing a blow to the head or anything malicious. If anything, it looks more like a physical hug........hahahaha. I bet he doesn't even get a fine for that. If he does, it will be a small one. Honestly, this isn't anything at all.
Let's get over it - we're about to see what real physical is next week.

Yep, I wish we had a player as nasty as Romo was. He was a dirtbag, but he was our dirtbag.

Romo was a huge asshole, but he was our huge asshole. If Cortland Finnegan was a Bronco, i'm sure we'd all support him more than we do now...thats just the way that works.

By the way, for repeat offenders the fines escalate. Eventually they start adding a zero. I remember Lynch got to that point.

apparently the fines arent working

what is the point of fining a player who will keep playing dirty anyway?

they should suspend him for a game and see if that settles him down

Pharmanowski was a POS. His racist schtick would have torn the lockerroom apart unless Elway called a meeting and told the team to leave personal feelings out of it.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1012921/index.htm

He filled a talent void at Sam, and no team avoids having some POS on it.

Romo was great. One of my all time favorite Broncos. I don't remember him ever not going 150%. When we played ATL in the Superbowl while other players went out he was in the pool doing his weird Romo workouts. All he cared about was winning the game and as a fan I loved that.

So he spit in someones face....big deal. :) Hell it was only JJ Stokes not like it was Jerry Rice. LOL.

BS it wasn't mega dirty. Finnegan only went into that pile for one reason, and that was to go directly for Kuper's exposed head.

He made no effort to do anything other than that.

Wasn't shot stick Fisher saying something about fines if the league sees cheap crap going on?

Is he aware that someone on his team has been fined in 75% of the games played by the Titans this year for being dirty?

Exactly. He's saying the paltry fine is worth the attempt at getting a competitive edge. Awesome that this guy is on the competition committee.

What an asswipe. He should have been ejected and fined $50,000. The league needs to send a message to that classless team.

They should have a system like many soccer leagues have with yellow card accumulation. Similar to the tech foul accumulation that the NBA keeps track of.

Should be a progressive fine and suspension system much like DUI's and off the field crap.

but the difference is that in NFL, those are real fouls not the fake flopping kind in soccer.

There are 'real' fouls that occur in just about every play in every professional sport under the sun.
