Yeah I'm watching.

New England is a good team to watch since they use the same philosophies. It's amazing how good the pass pro can be once the oline can get it down.

Miami is an interesting team too, they're usually on point with execution and I'm interested to see Mike Nolan's D 4 weeks into the season.

Not that we don't get snubbed enough recently but I believe they were talking about longest game winning kicks. Elam's was a rub-your-face in it end of the half kick against Jacksonville if I remember right.

Did anyone ever get traded for more?

The Saints gave up an entire draft and I believe the Phins gave up two firsts for him.

In all seriousness - it looks like he's Patriots version for McCluster.

Too much to quote.

Everyone is melting down even those who "supported" the team.

Fire the ST coach. Fire Sporano. Marshall is gonna demand a trade. Brandon Marshall is going to demand a trade. Parcells knew what he was doing by jumping ship.

Etc.

I was going to make this thread and ask why O'Brien seems to do this everywhere but here. then I didn't.

but really, he does this everywhere but here.

Is it really that surprising?

Shanahan never gave him talent to work with. The standard template for Shanahan's roster building was to sign a bunch of older vets who used to start somewhere else and lost their jobs starting. Starters don't typically play a ton of STs. We then use that as our 2nd string. He'd then generally suck in the draft, getting little worthwhile athletic talent to contribute on special teams.

So when we put together our kick/punt coverage units and our return teams we have older journeymen who haven't played STs in years and are in the process of athletic decline working with young late rounders and UDFAs who also generally lack elite athleticism and do not have a clue how to play STs at an elite level.

In short, we loaded a bunch of **** in a cannon, fired it against a wall, and then scraped up what was left and called it a special teams unit.

He also tried to rely on that ****bag Suerbrun as our punter despite multiple league violations and he ditched Elam part way through O'Brien's tenure here making him break in a new kicker/kick off man.

Just mess ass roster management keeping the STs from having any real talent. I have little faith in Priefer's ability to coach good coverage and return teams, he's a kick/punt specialist in my opinion, but our coverage and return teams have seen a marked improvement since McDaniels took over largely because we actually have talented guys doing work on special teams. Hell, we spent a 4th to get Bruton primary because he's a standout STs gunner. STs like any other unit do not improve if you aren't committed to improving them.
