If someone else's opinion of the outcome of a game diminishes your ability to enjoy a win, then maybe you need to think about forging a better sense of who you are.

Just a suggestion. Ha!

I'm pretty pissed myself. After getting the benefit of every mistake possible, and still barely coming out with a win. Albeit on the road, any win on the road is a good win. I have no hope for them long term. Despite the roster turnover and having all his guys, McDaniels still puts a middle of the road team on the field. Any team that regularly needs a few breaks to win games will not win consistently.

No, but a good team, a playoff team can have an off game and still win. This team counts on mistakes from other teams and hopes for breaks to win. Not a plan for success.

I have no hope for them long term. Despite the roster turnover and having all his guys, McDaniels still puts a middle of the road team on the field. Any team that regularly needs a few breaks to win games will not win consistently.

Let's see. He inherited a middle of the road team with tremendously little talent many who are not in the NFL anymore. He changes the philosophy of the OL and base defense to better compete against the elite teams in the NFL. The good players he inherits are either on the edge of suspension or feel so entitled that they think they are beyond trading. One of those situations he probably could have handled better, the other was on the road to personal destruction. He comes into a situation where the past coach had unsuccessfully overspent on free agency leaving tremendous dead money which the owner has to get out from under with the upcoming collective bargaining agreement staring at him. He had very little time to prepare for his first draft with personnel people who are not in the league.

And he has been in his position for what, 1.5 yrs. He is a young coach with good upside and stresses TEAM FIRST above the ME FIRST athletes he found when he got here. Is he beyond making mistakes, no certainly not. The last time I thought about it, neither was his Superbowl winning predecessor for the last 10 years.

I think I will give him a break or two

scttgrd
10-03-2010, 04:37 PM
He is just calling a spade, a spade. Nothing wrong with it.

You and others don't seem to get it. We have had no hope for a long time. And when we finally get a new coach, and he comes in calling out the former one and the red zone offense, we say show us something. Now, it's almost two years later and nothing has changed. Despite the roster turnover and the questionable roster moves. Not to mention a few draft picks, I have concerns. And to ignore those would be irresponsible. Show me something, more than a cute win or two now and then. Win, and win often. And win with some kind of authority that gives promise for the future. Have you seen that? Can you say this team is poised for any kind of run anywhere anytime soon. If you can, you are seeing something most don't.

Ohhhh, I dunno. MAYBE because we have a fantastic QB (with a possible superstar in the wings, learning for the next couple of years), deep WR core, young Oline that seems, FOR THE MOST PART, to be gelling...at least in the passing game, workhorse RB, deep secondary, the sack leader in the NFL last year, a possible complimentary piece developing across from him, a new D coordinator that has our team actually STOPPING some of the leagues best rushers.... I see some pretty bright spots.

Basically, I see a bunch of men out there that are PLAYING THEIR ASSES OFF for a pretty young, but football savvy, coach. Our running game will improve throughout the course of the season (once knowshon's healthy and we actually have a SET offensive line), which will in turn help to boost our redzone efficiency.

We just dropped 26 ****ing points on a VERY quick and powerful titans D, and kept the most explosive RB in the league to under 60 yards....all without any semblance of a running game.

Why THAT isn't enough to spark some excitement is beyond me.

Yes, we have problems, but this team is coming together.

You want a prediction? 11-5. Division winners. Suck on that you whiny little girl.

Wish in one hand **** in the other. This isnt Madden football, only one team gets to win the whole ****ing thing. Even the great Peyton Manning has only won it ONE TIME and only made it twice in his what, 11 year career.

Our coach is doing his damndest to fix the ****ing disaster left to us from Shanahan. Loved Shanny, but having 32 players on your roster that are no longer in the NFL is a bad sign of VERY POOR personnel decisions.

Let's see, I cannot think of a single coach in NFL history that could be a threat to the superbowl in a single year or even two if they had to CLEAN HOUSE when they got in and replace 32 of the 53 people on a roster because they sucked that bad.

As much hate as Dan Reeves gets he was responsible for 3 Superbowl appearances. Shanny brought us two wins. Why is it too much too ask for more? Six Superbowls, two wins. How soon before we get back to the big game?

For everyone pouting about the win. Do you think we could have held CJ and VY in check with the sad excuse of a defense we had 2 years ago. Not a chance. Granted the offense suffers from similar problems but you have to admit the defense is much improved even with the loss of Doom. THey play hard and smart for the entire 60 minutes. Atleast now we don't have to watch horrible angles taken by or safeties or nate webster losing his helmet every other play. This was a great win for us in prior years we wouldnt have pulled it off.

I know we have had the normal doom and gloomers like Mock... but this is getting really freakin' stupid. Scott, and the others of his ilk have really brought this site down. I have been a member for over 5 years now, and each year, I see less traffic to this site. Hell, I have even came to this site a lot less this year then previous years. The reason is because of the ignorant whiners who claim to be real fans, yet piss and moan NO MATTER what happens. I am sick of it. I bleed orange and blue. I have not missed watching a game since Elway was a rookie. I love this team. I root for them no matter how they struggle or how much they succeed. Yet every time I look on this forum, I see a handful of losers who cry no matter what they do. Can't you just enjoy the freakin game? Why do you watch in the first place Scott? If they lose, yes, I get pissed and I hope they play better next week, and when they win I run around like a kid and high five everyone around. Its football... its fun and an escape from the everyday. Enjoy the win, change your diapers and root for another team you big freakin baby.

Just what one could expect from you. Let's see how happy you are at the end of the season.

You are going to be really pissed if this team works out. Are you and steeledude the same poster?

"In the last twenty years 46.12% of all the NFL regular season games were decided by 7 or less points and 23.59% of the football games were decided by 3 or less."

Translation: You should change your handle to scttard.

Scttard: "ZOMG! Unless we blow out every team, even great defenses on the road, I'm going complain and whine like we lost! NURRRRR!"

Ouch. Agreed.

I had a good time Sunday, enjoyed it mightily, glad to hear you did also.

It's kind of funny that the Titans will be scratching their heads trying to figure out how Denver came into their town and won by six. Denver came to town, sneakily ate their lunch despite a 98 yd TD kickoff return, and really stuffed them in the 4th Q outscoring them 10-0. Fisher was pissed.

Yup, pretty much. And the sad thing is they don't have any clue how pathetic they are. And Skillet will be along shortly to scold you for telling him how to feel. He wants to be miserable and doesn't like to be reminded that we won and that he should cheer up.

Me too. Great game. Really tough win on the road. This feels like a turning point for this team, AFAIC. Now they know they can go toe to toe with a tough (and dirty) team and still knock out the victory. Bring on the Ratbirds.

You just don't understand. Every great performance by Orton means that Josh was right and Cutler was wrong. They can't handle the truth. ;D

i think one of the most ridiculous things I've read on here in a long time is the "this team needs breaks to win games"...what the hell kind of an argument is that?

the Colts recovered a fumble on our 15 yard line last week...the Titans had a 7th round pick return a kickoff on us....

these are breaks AGAINST us...each team gets em...you NEED them to win games in this league
