They're still gonna go Rapey McRapefest all over this division after Sept. They owned Seattle outside of a few kickoff returns.

Aren't the Chargers supposed to be winning these games and well entrenched at the top of the AFC West. I don't know which is worse being the Chargers and underachieving or the Broncos.

BTW, I felt the Broncos played well vs the Manning led Colts.

Yes. But with that early easy schedule, the Bolts SHOULD have gone to a 6-0 start this year. Their schedule gets tougher late in the year, whereas ours gets a bit easier.

Lets see ... Seahags clobbered SF and beat the Chargers ... KC beat the classically slow starting Chargers in the rain at home, and sqeaked by the mighty Browns then stomped San Fran ... We clobbered SF too and much worse than the score indicated. ... So what can you tell from all this??

Not much, but just looking at our common opponents played this year, you could make a solid argument we still might be the class of this division in any event, and that might well be clear to all by the time its all said and done?

Not that it would mean we're ready for a SB run. Could be the AFC west is as weak as a lot of prognositcators expected and perhaps SD is starting its long slide back to mediocrity as well??

My feeling is that whereever we are on the division strength scale, we are steadily building toward to top end again whether its this year or the next couple?

Could be too that KC will once again become a rival like the old days? Wouldn't mind that for the fun. Particularly when we can again be the ones to derail their decades long SB hunt. :strong:

The main thing that might prevent us from challening for the division this year is continued crappy luck with key injuries, AND failure to get our run game going.

We didtn sack Manning today but he was pressured and knocked down a bunch and Ayers is definitely improving. SUCKS big time we cant have Doom on the other end. Could make a huge difference.

We start running the ball and keep improving on D each week, and I think we very much still can end the year on top of the AFC west heap ( for whatever that might say? :-) ..

Next few weeks will start to clarify the story.

Yep KC is going through a mini version of our 6-0 run last year. Suspect the end of their season will wind up more or less like ours last year too but without making an 8-8 record.

Another slow start for us which really gets old. Two games where ST's has lost it for us. Three kickoff returns for TD's in three weeks? Yikes, that is pretty bad. Seattles offense didnt do a thing in the 2nd half and we gave them the game with two friggin KO returns.

As long as we can be 3-2 after 5 weeks, im good. Even starting 2-3 has won us a division before so im not really worried. As long as they get it together when we face some better teams. Rather get them later than early when we arent our best.

One thing that is more worrysome is Merriman keeps getting dinged. He has a sore achilles and hurt his other leg today. I know he wont be here next year and he needs a good year to get his contract so i hope that turns around.

Kinda like how Knowshon cant seem to stay healthy.

I was flipping back fourth between our game and this one.

Watching Rivers get a delay of game was funny, he was busy watching the refs discuss the last play and not the clock.

Sad thing for the Chargers is that their craptacular special teams play has wasted two great efforts by the defense. Yeah, they've played against horrible offenses but their defense is looking pretty dominant right now.

Leon Washington should have had three touchdown returns if he hadn't slipped on one of the returns. If not for that and a great tackle by Scifres in week one, there should have been five returns for TDs already.

I think someone is gonna get cut tomorrow on special teams to be made an example of.

yawn...your team can beat bottom feeders, that is an improvement
but they cant compete with playoff caliber teams with that offense

we could start 1-5 and still most likely finish with a better record

Taken out of context, I would think you're talking about the Broncos. Unsure why you're banging away at the Chiefs when we can't score from the 1. Our offense sputters in the red zone and it has been that way for years.

Our offense can score when it doesnt make stupid mistakes
not sure if that will continue all year or not
but at least the potential is there to move the ball consistently

Chiefs are playing well, but Cassel is still their qb and I dont trust him at all to consistently make plays when he has to

he pretty much just dumped it off to his runningbacks and tight end all game long, Niners didnt stop it so more power to the Chiefs, but that formula most likely wont work against good defenses

well see, but I see a lot of similarities between this Chiefs team and our team last year

If you think that's true than think it. I don't think KC is a playoff team right now. They have surprised. I agree that the next 2 games will say a lot, but what if KC wins both or goes 1-1 in that span?

The Broncos and Chiefs have a weak schedule this year. We play almost the same teams so there really is no excuse.

Yes....obviously every year every team within a division has 14 common games.....but let's look at the other 2....

This year in the AFC East we have the Jets, but you have Buffalo. And in the AFC North we have Baltimore, but you have Cleveland.

BIG DIFFERENCE. And 2 games in a 16 game schedule is a lot.

In fact, I argue that Denver has the toughest schedule in the AFC West......San Diego's other 2 teams are the Patriots and the Bengals.....IMO, not as tough as NYJ or Baltimore.

Ha! So true.

Wow, I have never seen such pathetic special teams coverage, really ever. I mean Devin Hester is Devin Hester. There is really no shame in that guy going to the house on you. But Leon Washington? Twice? Really, really horrible coverage. God how I miss Kassim Osgood.

Rivers had numbers but has to get better at clock management and finish off these comebacks. You can't have your final drives end at the opponents 4 and 11 yard lines in the first 3 weeks. Gotta find a way to finish it.

Somehow I see this erratic play continuing for the Bolts. 9-7 would be my guess at this point and 8-8 probably more likely. Might still be enough to get it done in this division but we will see. I think their undefeated streak in December will finally come to an end.

I think a pretty exciting finish is in store for the AFC West this year.

For me, I obviously hopes this happens again. But there's a weird vibe I'm getting from everything I'm hearing today. No panic or real concern.

I just hope they don't think since they always finish strong that this year it's just going to happen.

It's like everyone expected another slow start and it will all be fine at the end of the season. Seems too happy go lucky around here right now.

They need to get their crap together, especially on special teams and the offense in regards to holding on to the ball.

Norv needs to stop being so pass happy down at the goal line. Obviously, the last drive with :25 seconds left, you have to pass it but he made the same mistake he did at KC two weeks ago earlier in the game. Passing on second down and then going shotgun with Sproles in the backfield again.

They finally have a power back again and they refuse to let him pound it in at the goal line. Or throw a fade to one of your giant receivers. Teams are figuring out how to defend his pass plays he's calling. That's why Rivers has to go school yard every time they get down on the goal line and at that point you're just really rolling the dice hoping he can keep the play alive long enough for a defensive breakdown. I just don't get his goal line play calling at all.

Obviously, this is all easily correctable but it's inexcusable for a coach who has been here three years already. He should know his team's strengths and weaknesses.

um no
Cassel blows
their defense is playing well, but I am not sure they have the horses to keep it up all year like we found out last year

well have to wait and see, it is quite common to see new coaching staffs start out hot while the rest of the league is trying to figure out what their tendencies
not trying to troll on them, but if anyone should be skeptical of fast starts it is us Bronco fans

I still say KC finishes 3rd, but with a better record than last year

1000% agree. At least we did not see a delayed draw to Sproles from the 2 yesterday. I would have committed suicide.
