Cox actually played okay for a rookie considering it was Manning and no pass rush.

This thread is idiotic.

Cox is fine. he's already made more plays in 3 games than Fonz in 1+season

Burnt TWICE for TD's, and a fumbled punt...... Thats ok for you? so be it

Wow. He's a rookie, but you expect a HOF guy in his third game.

Just like you were, I am sure, in your first job.

Cox was a little shaky. Not a horrible start given the circumstances.

We just weren't clutch today.

Yes, gave up those two TDs, but over all had a good game. Rookie played better then I expected. Again, ****ing idiot.

Sucky offense and playcalling inside the 20 lost this game.

Why don't you take a few minutes. Calm down and think on it before you just spew your anger out on Cox.

Complaining about a 5th round rookie starting against a Hall of Fame QB with no pass rush is, well, weak.

We saw flashes of what cox can do, despite being burned. Can you say the same thing for fonz at any point he was here?

Cox sucked balls today but Manning would have used Fonz up and tossed him aside like the used up jizz rag he is.

Cox Alexander! ;)

But seriously, he's a rookie corner who got picked on by an all world QB. It happens.

Yep. We should have put 42 on their asses today and instead the RZ offense **** the bed, and dumb ****s want to blame a rookie cornerback in his first NFL start.

And if Phonz wouldve started in place of Cox they probably wouldve put 50 on us

Well, I know I saw the being burned part from Phonz, not so much on the flashes part though.

Cox will be around awhile.

Can't say the same for Jones.

That one play he was over the top and let Collie (I think) get by him on 3rd and long.

WTF?

For it being his third game, against one of the best passing offenses in the NFL with little to no pass rush he did very well.

Cox actually did pretty damn good in his corner duties overall. He's a rookie and going against Peyton ****ing Manning.

This is what hurt us. Our defense, including cox, did enough early on to have us win the game. The offense couldn't do anything early on to take a lead, and we payed for it. No defense will ever shut down Peyton manning, he is just too good.

Br0nc0Buster
09-26-2010, 04:34 PM
it was Peyton Manning, he shreds top notch corners and makes them look silly

he did some good things, but when he screwed up it was magnified because it was on a big play

hell get better

Alphonso Smith picks off Bretty Favre and now Cox sucks? It was his third game and he was starting (much sooner than the staff probably hoped).

You know who still sucks? Nate Jones.

Pretty much this. Cox + cowardly red zone performance = loss.

If your analysis is that Cox is the reason for this loss, then you're just simply too dumb to converse with.

09-26-2010, 05:22 PM
He played like a rookie with a lot of potential. Made some big pass breakups, had some good coverage, but also got beat a few times. The fumbled punt hurt, but defensively he played better than I expected given the circumstances. Peyton Manning is probably the best QB in the NFL. I wish we had 2 or 3 Champ Baileys, but no one does. Cox made some mistakes he can learn from. He'll be fine

lol funniest thread I read on the mane all day.

Cox played decent for being targeted by Manning, tho he gets no pass for the fumble even tho it only resulted in 3. To say Alphonso Smith is better than Perrish Cox tho LOL. wow

I remember that play. Aahh, good times.

Cox had a rough day, no question. But, being targeted by Manning all day long is a rough baptism by fire.

We'll see, but he looks very skilled, to me.

Other than the muffed punt, Cox did pretty well today.

TonyR
09-26-2010, 06:18 PM
Phil Simms praised Cox several times. Had some good moments, showed some skills and promise, got beat a few times, and blew that punt return. But come on, Peyton Manning does this to a lot of DB's. Surprised to see people be so hard on a rookie, particularly one who shows so much potential to be a player.

Really he got beat on like 3 plays and they targeted him alot. I think Cox won more than he lost in this game and from a 5th round rookie CB going against Manning thats pretty effing awesome.

Punt fumble sucked though but it was only a 3 point loss there.

Steve Sewell

Are you serious? Cox gave up a TD to a nobody practice squad player and muffed a punt. If there was a singular player responsible for being behind, it was him. Secondary to that was simply awful and turtle-like redzone play calling.

bowtown
09-26-2010, 06:36 PM
The fumble was a killer, but aside from that Cox played well. If Goodman had been in, everyone would be crapping on him right now. It just doesn't matter who you put there, unless you have 2 Champ Bailey's the guy who isn't Champ is always going to get thrown at the entire game by Manning. Considering how many times he was targeted, Cox played a lot of good tough corner today. Besides, this loss isn't about our defense. It's about our inability to convert on 3rd and 4th down in the redzone.

BTW this was his first NFL start ever. Many vets wouldn't have looked as good as he did today.

Cox had a lot of very tight coverage and forced several incompletions without conceding any penalties, with no pass rush you are not going to get much better coverage than that against Manning especially with Champ blanketing Wayne.

This. I was impressed with his play overall. He looked like a vet on many plays. The punt fumble is really hard to swallow though. He seemed slow to react to recover it.
