That was over almost a 4 hour period of time. Averages to a drink an hour. I've had more than that before. Especially at the tailgates. It was just very wierd.

18 years....

That seems like such a LONG time! It seems like a VERY long time! When you think about it, 18 years ago we were just coming out of the big hair 80's, leg warmers, Duran Duran and Madonna were the "in", Tiananmen Square, Bush Sr became president, the Exxon Valdez oil spill, the Berlin Wall came down and IBM 486's were the new hitYikes! !! Average cost of a house was 120k, you could buy gas for under a $1 and postage stamps were a quarter!! :yep:

And, my daughter was born! :sunshine: It's hard to believe that she's 18 today!! I remember the first time I laid eyes on her. The first thing I said was that she had my toes and my fingers. They were a mini copy of mine! It was so incredibly amazing. My life changed forever on that day. I had no clue just how drastic of an impression this little baby would have on my life. And, I wouldn't have it any other way. It's amazing how children will change you as a person. The teach you so many things that you could never learn on your own (now, isn't that an oxymoron)!

At two, she would stand on a milk crate out in front of the house and preach to the cares. She would always remind them that "JESUS LOOOOVES YOU!!" At three she wore these cowboy boots and she refused to take them off. She loved them so much she would sleep in them. Ha! I remember first day of kindergarten, her kindergarten graduation in her cute little cap and gown. I remember for her 11th birthday I decided to 'surprise' her with a trip to San Diego. She had no clue we were going until we actually were there. She slept the entire way. We went sea kayaking on that trip. She still talks of it today.

She fell in love with the Denver Broncos at a young age! I think she was mesmerized by Elway at the age of 3! Maybe even before if at all possible. I have to admit that my daughter is the one that led me to love the Broncos! Yup, it's her fault I'm here! ;)

It's so amazing just how quickly they grow up. So many memories yet it seems like just yesterday. It went by entirely too quickly. So many things I'd do differently, yet I really wouldn't. In some ways this day for me is liberation. I guess I'm no longer 'responsible' legally for her actions. But, does parenting really end when your child legally becomes an adult? I really don't think so. You just never stop being a parent. Your parental role just changes and now you can actually be a friend. The real world is a much more difficult parent than I could ever be.

Happy Birthday, Kaitlen!! :yayaya:

I doubt she'll log on here today and read this, but she already knows. I just needed to take my "thought for the day" to another level today in thinking back over 18 years! Remember that you can never get back that time and every minute DOES count.

Happy belated birthday Kaitlen! Hope your day was a wonderful one

Happy Monday everyone!!

Thought for the day!

When you think you can
The difference between impossible and accomplished is in what you think. When you think you can, you will.

Yes, there may be big obstacles standing in your path. Still, when you think you can, you'll find a way over them, under them, around them, or through those obstacles.

If you're having trouble believing that you can accomplish some particular goal, break it into smaller, more believable steps. Once you see yourself in action, your confidence and belief will surely grow.

Decide that you can make a tiny difference. When you think you can, you'll find a way.

Once you've made a tiny difference, you'll find yourself knowing that you can do a little bit more and make a small difference. Then you can work your way up to making a medium difference, a large difference, and then an enormous positive difference in your world.

Choose to think that you can do it. And you'll see how great you are at figuring out a way to make it happen.

Happy Tuesday!!!

Thought for the day!

Peaceful and calm
You can choose to be annoyed by just about everything. But why would you wish to be annoyed by anything?

As easily as you can choose to be annoyed, you can choose to be peaceful, patient and understanding. Instead of putting your energy into being annoyed, you can put it into more valuable and productive pursuits.

Would you like to make yourself into a victim, or would you prefer to be firmly in control of your life? Peaceful patience, tolerance and acceptance will keep you in control.

If there is a situation that needs to be changed, take action to make that change happen. Don't waste your time with being annoyed.

The next time you encounter a situation that would normally annoy you, stop and remember that you have another choice. Instead of letting outside events control your attitude, choose to control it yourself.

Being annoyed is a waste of your life. Be peaceful, calm and powerful instead.

Do you know?
Have you noticed how beautiful life is today? Look around with thankful, loving eyes and you'll see.

Can you comprehend how many wonderful possibilities are available to you right now? Follow one or two of them, and you'll understand.

Do you realize how creative and effective you can be? Allow your thoughts, words and actions to express what's in your heart, and you'll discover.

Are you aware how much of a difference you can make in the world? Move forward with sincerity and positive purpose, and you'll be astonished at what you can accomplish.

Do you know all the good things you're capable of achieving? Make use of this moment to begin to find out.

The possibilities for joy and fulfillment are all around you. Jump in right now and explore them fully.

Happy Friday, everyone!!

Today's thought of the day is a little 'touchy, feely' so you guys, don't not pay attention to it. Because, it's really a great thing to think about!! :peace:

Deep inside
There are things you can see, things you can hear, things you can touch, taste and smell. And beyond all those, there are things you can know.

There is wisdom within you that requires no outside validation. There are things your heart knows that nothing can dispute.

Don't become so caught up in material, worldly matters that you ignore the miraculous living presence always glowing inside you. Pay attention to the incomprehensible essence that is your life.

In your hands you hold things that, sooner or later, will rust and decay. In your heart you can keep things that are timeless.

Food, clothing and shelter sustain and protect your body. Be sure to sustain and nourish your spirit just as diligently.
Deep inside the person the world sees, is the real and indivisible person you are. Let your inner self play an active and positive role in all you do.

Oh, really? Mind if I ask what you will be doing?

Tonight we're going out to hear the band (Make Me Shiver) and then tomorrow, we have a very large party to attend (it's a combination party for a friend's birthday, my husband's birthday and upcoming retirement, and our daughter's 18th birthday). My husband and sons will probably spend Sunday on the golf course while I'm working on a ton of sewing I need to do for our 19-year-old daughter's wedding (coming up on Labor Day weekend). Sunday is also my brother-in-law's birthday. :)

Thought for the day!!

Waves of now

The problems may be great, yet your ability to successfully deal with them is greater. Each disappointment can be painful, and yet through that pain you are compelled to grow stronger and more capable.

Life goes on, and each moment brings new positive possibilities. You live, you learn, you experience, and through it all you become more fully alive than ever.

You have carried with you to this moment all the joy and beauty you've ever known. Now you are in a position to discover and to fulfill even more.

Seek not to fight against what is. For within what is, the very real opportunity exists for precisely what you wish to be.

In whatever may come your way, you can find the energy and substance to bring your own dreams to life. Run eagerly to greet each moment, for in each moment is the opportunity to fully live.

Life's sparkling treasure rolls in on endless waves of now. Appreciate the depth and the vastness of that treasure, and it is yours.

Happy Wednesday, Happy Hump Day! We are on the downslope to another wonderful weekend!! Time to start making those weekend plans!!

Building confidence
A little bit of confidence can get you started building a lot more confidence. And with sufficient confidence, anything is within your reach.

As you look in the direction of your goal, you'll see some small step that you are absolutely certain you can take. So go ahead and take that step.

Though you may not yet have the confidence to complete the whole project, you certainly have the confidence to get started. Get started then, and watch your confidence level quickly grow.

Make use of what confidence you now have. And the confidence you need for what is next will surely come.

By venturing a little bit out of your comfort zone, you can significantly expand it. By continuing to take on new challenges, just a little bit at a time, you can truly achieve whatever you choose.

Starting with only the smallest glimmer of confidence, you can realistically reach even the most ambitious goals. Because your confidence will grow stronger and stronger with every step along the way.

Positive thought for today!

Live by intention
Think before you do. Don't just automatically react to life or live by blind habit.
Think about what you're about to do, and think about the consequences.

Remember that when you choose the action, you're also choosing all the things that result from that action.

When you choose to eat half a dozen doughnuts, you're choosing to put fat on your body. When you choose to be sloppy with your work, you're choosing to sabotage your own career.

When you choose to rise early and start getting things done, you're choosing to create real and lasting value in your own life and in the world around you. When you choose to stay focused on an important task, you're choosing to enjoy the rewards that come from real accomplishment.

Live your life based on your own best intentions. Each action you take has very real consequences, and you are in a position to select the exact consequences that you wish to bring about.

It only takes a brief moment to think before you act. Do it every time, and your life will follow the precise path you choose.

Howdy all!!!

Thought for the day...a good one!!

Keep moving

When the path becomes difficult, that's no reason to give up. In fact, it means you're making real progress.

The mountain becomes more rugged and steep the closer you get to the summit. Keep going, keep climbing, keep making the effort, and soon you'll find yourself reaching the top.

The challenges you encounter are unquestionable proof that you're making a positive difference. Make use of those challenges, not as an excuse to stop, but rather as a platform from which to push forward.

For the greatest achievements come in response to the greatest challenges. When the going gets rough, you are most certainly in the presence of profound opportunity.

When there is much that must be done, there is enormous value waiting to be created. Step boldly forward and claim that value.

Whatever may come, whatever may seem to block your path, choose to keep moving. There are truly magnificent rewards just on the other side of your persistent efforts.

Happy Monday, all! It's one of those mornings that it's difficult to keep your spirits up, so here's a little help from today's thought! I know it gave me a little jolt of reality!!

Lift your head high
Where there is great difficulty, there are also great opportunities. Where there is sorrow, there is also much possibility for real joy.

In places of darkness, even a small light can make an enormous positive difference. When the situation seems hopeless, that's precisely when acting on hope can turn things around.

The greatest achievements often have their origins in the most complicated and perplexing problems. By accepting the possibility of dreadful failure, people are able to create magnificent success.

When it seems that no options remain, that's when a breakthrough is about to happen. Each setback along the way makes the eventual success that much more precious and valuable.

No matter how good or how difficult life may be now, there is always a realistic and accessible way to make it better. For you can learn, you can adapt, you can grow stronger, and you can take effective action to move forward.

Whatever may be, whatever may happen, lift your head high with thankfulness and enthusiasm. For when you so choose, the best is yet to come.

Can't wait for our first game, preseason or not! It's FOOTBALL!!!

Thought for the day!! Another gem....

You can decide
The attitude you have is the attitude you have chosen. When you find that you've worked your way into a negative mindset, you have what it takes to also work your way back out.

You can truly change the world by changing the way you look at it. In an instant, by realizing you have the power, you can inject new positive energy and enthusiasm into your life.

In what kind of world do you wish to live? This very moment, you can adopt an attitude that will make that world appear before your eyes.

Much of what happens all around you is out of your control. And yet you can completely control what is most important.

For you can decide for yourself what it all means. And you can choose what to make of it all.

Are you ready to live life completely on your own terms, with positive purpose and passion? When you are ready, you will.

YES, I am!!!

Today's thought! One of my favorite things to do!!! :) ;D :sunshine: :approve: :flower:

Smile
There's a simple, easy step you can take that will exert a positive, powerful influence in a variety of situations. That simple act is a genuine smile from the heart.

Smile, and not only does it improve your appearance, it improves all of you. Smile, and you cannot avoid being more positive toward life.

Smile as you speak, and your voice will be more confident, enthusiastic and convincing. Even when you're talking over the phone and the person at the other end can't see you, a smile adds noticeable value to the conversation.

Give a smile to others, and you instantly improve the quality of each encounter. Smile to yourself, and new positive possibilities come clearly into view.

A smile costs you nothing, and yet it can bring so very much. Take a look around, and you'll see that the most successful and fulfilled people are those who smile the most.

Even when you can't think of a reason to smile, smile anyway. Smile, and you'll surely create plenty of good reasons.

Except I may be having an issue with the thunderstorm going on right now! It already went out once and I had to reboot to get the signal to work again.

Ugh, that would be a pain in the ass.

I'm not sure if that is normal...but I assume it could be since the thunder/lightening could be interfering with the signal?

Not sure. I've never had that problem.

That's the ONLY downside to being a Broncos fan. People don't want to give up their tickets. Oh well. I'd rather have a good season year in and year out than have some down years just to ensure some season ticket holders won't renew. I can wait...:-/

Happy Thursday! Almost the weekend! I'm ready, yet again!

Thought for the day...

Contribute to life
Always, there is something you can contribute to life. In every place and time and situation, there is a way for you to make a positive difference.

In whatever you are able to offer, there is bountiful opportunity. For the value you give comes back to you over and over again.

The way to bring out the best in others is to put your own best abilities into action. The way to truly learn is to teach.

Every achievement is built upon the steady and focused creation of value. Learn to see each moment as an opportunity to create meaningful value, and your life will be filled with astonishing achievements.

When so many others are preoccupied with what they can get, choose to focus your own thoughts on what and how you can most effectively give. That is the path to real and lasting abundance.

The quality of the life you live has everything to do with what you're willing to give. Contribute your own special value to life, and you'll discover it's the best investment you could ever make.

How ironic this one is for me today! Funny how you get so self focused and then you are reminded...it's not about ME! :sunshine:

Great advice right there, STG. I love Ralph Marston.
