I played the drums.

Or I beat on them. I must of broken more cymbals than anyone.

I played in the Kieth Moon era, and would throw my drums around..kick out the heads....

It was pretty amusing to my stage band Leader, he used to play with Count Basie and the other guys..

He was always amused when I would beat on the drums like a maniac. Mr. Redman. He was such a nice man.  :-[

He introduced me to so many big time Jazz Legends...I had no clue he had so many connections.

To me, Cat Scratch Fever was the only way to drive the Trap Set.

A cabby picks up a nun. She gets into the cab, and the cab driver won't
stop staring at her. She asks him why is he staring and he replies, "I have a question to ask you but I don't want to offend you."

She answers, "My dear son, you cannot offend me. When you're as old as I am and have been a nun as long as I have, you get a chance to see and hear just about everything. I'm sure that there's nothing you could say or ask that I would find offensive."

"Well, I've always had a fantasy to have a nun kiss me."

She responds, "Well, let's see what we can do about that: #1, you have to
be single and #2 you must be Catholic."

The cab driver is very excited and says, "Yes, I am single and I'm Catholic
too!" "OK" the nun says "Pull into the next alley"

He does and the nun fulfills his fantasy with a kiss that would make a
hooker blush.

But when they get back on the road, the cab driver starts crying.

"My dear child, said the nun, why are you crying?"

"Forgive me sister, but I have sinned. I lied, I must confess, I'm married
and I'm Jewish."

The nun says, "That's OK, my name is Kevin and I'm on my way to a Halloween party."

There was a place called the roof garden in Okoboji Iowa.

It was similiar to the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake Iowa where I played once for our band, (That Billy Holly? guy played there)...crashed his plane?

Both had wooden floors, (skating rinks) but the Rood Garden was elevated, and was only covered in the 50's.

Saw some good bands there, you mentioned Rush. I imagine you are speaking of Rush 2112, who played there sometime in the late 70's. The smell of cheap mexican pot was heavy. They used to rope it off so minors could go in, they had a rope down the middle of the place..it was pretty funny.

You could go up to Minnesota on Okoboji homecoming night, and they would have bottles of vodka on tables. Totally open come one come all. They have "clubs" where you can "bring your own", or at least the did back then.

That was another big club, called the Loon Lake Ballroom. They were big skating rinks basically. Even I was amazed to find GIANT bottles of Vodka on the table with minors and such. People really used to get messed up drunk in the old days. Naturally, an accident ended that party.

People really used to party on the lake in those days as well. I can always remember my Dad yelling at me for saying "don't Bogart that Joint" in the middle of the lake. (voices travel big time over water), and several times I was apparently busted for having sex out on the boat which could be heard onshore.

This was a pretty small venue, but people from Chicago and Omaha and Minneapolis make expensive homes there.

Saw BTO there, let me think...Ozark Mountain Daredevils...Ted Nugent. A few others.

One venue that was really good was the Rainbow Ballroom in Denver, Evans and Monaco. Saw Santana there, saw a bunch of good bands there too...really nice venue...small...

Rush literally blew the roof off tho. I couldn't hear anything for a few days. That was a THREE PEICE BAND.

Oh hell yeah, Neil Rocks....  Mike Stated Dave Lombardo, he's good too...

Some of my hero's -

Peart, Carrey (drummer from tool), Billy Ward (he just is so awesome, Black Sabbath if you must know), Buddy Rich is awesome too...

Right now one of my hero's is a guy named Jimmy Bower, he's the drummer for Corrosion of Conformity and Down (Phil Anselmo-RexBrown-pantera, Pepper Kennan-CoC, Uhm a guitar player from crowbar) - This bad is not thrash metal, it's more like sabbath metal.  And Yes, Phil actually sings.

But Jimmy Bower makes this little 4 piece set sing like only Bill Ward could remind me.....(BOWER POWER)

we must keep this at the very top throughout this week...

IT'S RAIDER TIME!!!!!!!

watermock
11-06-2002, 04:39 AM
I was thinking it would be hard to get up for this week, after seeing Al Davis in the owners box, trying to see thru that orb called Otto...nursing home candidate...and the wimpering after 30 consecutive grinding thrusts up the...well...black hole. That has to be some sort of record.

The Niners must of had the ball for a whole hour of air time...I would of gone crazy...Too bad it wasn't Matt Millen in the box with him. Now that would of been priceless.  :P

It's almost like when that uncle dies that everyone thought was an asshole, but you try to say something good about him at the funeral.

Oh, hell with it..I say we bury Weird Al face down this week.

He always did tell everyone to kiss his black hole, let's give him his final wish.  :P

Davis looked perplexed and disturbed, dazed and confused. And understandably so.

Football minds far less wise than Davis' easily can recognize darkness has descended upon Oakland.

Shanahan has won 12 of the Broncos' 14 meetings with Davis' Raiders.

"We've both got a lot of stories, and every once in a while, when we share a beer in the off-season at a golf tournament, we'll trade stories and reminisce a little bit," Beuerlein said.

"There's plenty of stories, but they stay between Mike and I."

Now think about that last quote.

Obviously, Shanahan and SB go back a long time, and are friends...yet when push came to shove, did Mike put in SB?
Yanking Griese would of been the EASY move, and SB being a personal friend?

It just goes to show how good of a manager Shanahan is. And trust me, SB is still there, fresh as a daisy, with a good elbow, and ready if needed.

This team has good depth everywhere but LB and Center.

Man, I want to bury Oakland this week....BAD. thwack

There are alot of headknockers that could go our way...

Except that noone should get used to watching other scoreboards... but it will be interesting because all the schedule will be done by monday night...

Among key matchups:

Atlanta at Pitt:

Tommy M. vs. Danny Boy's new wonder kid. A win by Atlanta pushes Pitt back to mediocrity and helps our cause to hold home field.

Ray Lucas AT the Jets.

Miami is reeling without Feidler and Gadsen, Carter looked out of his element, like a hitchiker from route 66 on an interstate overpass...Lucas has a bum shoulder...

A Miami loss again would be huge, as they hold the tiebreaker against Denver.

The Chargers AT the Lambs...

Another big game with playoff implications...St. Louis is starting to get scary again, but someone will lose, hopefully the Chargers...

Indy AT Philadelphia.

Another game that could virtually destroy Indy from hoping for anything more than a prayer for any sort of homefield. This is going to be a massacre as the Edge, Rhodes, Ricky Williams and all sort of life has gone out of this team, starting with the comotose Tony Dungy.

The Patsies vs. Chicago.

AGAIN, a game that could really really help Denver if Chicago can hold home court. I am not expecting much, but it's possible after the emotional win against Buffalo's poor Defense..a Pat loss here, again really helps Denver...

The Chef's AT San Fransisco...

AGAIN, a game that could really help Denver, and yet ANOTHER rival team on the road...it would be nice to have their hearts torn out as well, as they are still 4-4, despite the "helmet bowl" against Cleveland.

Finally...

Oakland AT Denver...All the cards seem aligned for a Denver win, allmost TOO ALIGNED...

If the cards fall right over the weekend, a win in Denver against the hated Raiders, coupled with I expect to be at least two or three losses by AFC rivals that are traveling all over the USA this week on road games...Denver could be sitting prettier than we could possibly of imagined only three weeks ago...

This is a pretty big weekend...I have a feeling we are going to go thru what will feel like another Bye week, with more good fortune, and simply have to take care of business on Monday Night...

Things might look pretty dandy on Tuesday morning, or Denver will be kicking itself for another lost opportunity like the Miami game...

All I know is, that looking at this weeks schedule, it has the potential to be even more fruitfull than our bye week...

Go Broncos and hurry up Monday...

Everyone did their part but Denver... :-[

What is worth noting is the fact that under Shanahan, the Broncos have enjoyed the same type of success following blowout losses -- i.e. defeats by three scores or more. Denver hasn't had to endure many of these during the eight years of the Shanahan era, but when they have, they generally haven't led to losing streaks, as Denver is 7-1 following defeats by 17 points or more since 1995.

;D

Yeah, but every, I mean EVERY stat pointed to a Denver win last week.

If we don't win this game against three practice squad linebackers, and their best WR still seeing birdies, and Hassleback as QB, might as well write the season off...

Arizona is just awfull after losing all three of their wideouts, and their Runningbacks are just as bad. Plummer has not progressed at all in the past three years, and playing in Arizona is like the Black Hole...half empty.

I don't see them winning this week. :PBuffalo will probably beat the Jets Ha! Colts will lose to Denver ;D Titans will lose to the Ravens. We still have atleast 3 more weeks to see what will happen in the division Races ;)

It's time to put the hammer down and snap this team awake,
with that little horse called Portis who's slippery as a snake.

Are the coaches in a coma? Can't they hear the bell? That little stud in Denver runs like a thousand pounds of hell.

7-5 sucks, we know the time has come, our hearts pounding in our ears like Yankee Doodle's drum.

Put Shanny at coordinator! Send Kubes to the arena! Bring back John to run this show! Pat, get the subpoena!

Howdy folks. I've been on hiatus for a while cause I've been extremely frustrated with the Broncos since the bye week. I've seen poor play and poor play-calling at every level. I know this team has the talent to go all the way, but they are definitely missing something very important, the will to win. The only bright spot I've seen is Portis, and Kubes/Shanny seem to be trying to keep the ball away from him. He should have easily busted 1000 yards for the season by now. As always, I'll be rooting for the Broncos on Sunday (actually later today since it's almost 3AM now). They can and should beat the Jets, but we'll have to wait and see. They should have beat the Raiders, Chargers, and Colts, but didn't. I'm hoping they will turn thier season around and start winning again. I also will be rooting for the Chargers when they play the Raiders. Other than that game, I'll be rooting against both. Denver now needs some help to make the playoffs, lets hope we get it.....

GO BRONCOS!!!

I am to Lazy to go through all the Post on this thread But Just what is a neck Pony ????

Reprising Post #10 on this thread, here's how I define it...

The term actually originated over on the DPO board (a lot of our posters came over from that board). It was originally coined as an insult by a Raider fan who called himself "Black Hole"... but the Bronco fans adopted the name. There's a mega-Neck Pony thread  with thousands of posts on that board... and the tradition continues here...

Hope that helps!

I think "sent" messages also count toward your PM allotment space... so they have to be deleted too....

Maybe TJ can tell us more about the PM box capacity....

Am I missing something, the new board doesn't display the number of the post?
This thread is close to entering the ring of fame itself! 971 posts and counting...

Well things are a little slow at the mo. I guess the question on everyone's lips at the moment is will Elam be our Punter as well?

Alkazar
02-04-2003, 01:59 PM
I think he'll go back to being the KO/PK, I'm not sure what we'll do about punting yet.

BritBronco Maniac
02-04-2003, 02:56 PM
Well, its strange because Mike seemed to have decided he couldn't kickoff anymore. Either he was injured and will regain the distance or they will need a kick off specialist. This gives them two options, have a punter who can kick off, or have Elam punt as well and have a sole kick off specialist.

At the SB party I attended there was a displaced Brit football fan. Wasn't a Bronco fan, but was knowledgable about the game. I am impressed at the British knowledge of the American game! Perhaps I'll have to learn rugby to keep up with you guys.

Its a rare thing Mnfan i'm afraid, thats why I spend so much time here.
Don't bother with rugby, I get sick of hearing rugby losers telling me football is just rugby with pads and its for pussies.
Rugby is a contact sport, football is a collision sport!

Planning on taking a trip accross the "pond" this summer. Unfortunately, I won't be making it to merry old England, I will be sticking to Ireland in this trip. Looking forward to seeing on how fresh Guiness tastes!

BTW BBM, did I read you graduated? Congrats if so and what was your major? (Or at least that is what we call it here)

I think that football is primarily an American institution. I really have no idea why! Basketball, for as much as I hate it, has become an international insitution. Baseball is popular in Asia, hockey in Europe. Football hasn't really caught on. I figured once we had the World League of Professional Football or whatever, we'd get a more international following. I think that soccer, being called football in most of the world, has a lot to do with it. It's almost as if you have to choose between the two sports.

I graduated from Southampton last summer with a BSc Accounting and Finance. Still looking for a permanent job, but at least I finally have some interviews, you may have noticed the financial world is somewhat sluggish at the moment!

I am fairly heavily involved in football in this country, I was club president at University, and I made the all star team twice, so I put a lot of thought into the spread of sports.
I think there are two main problems with football, firstly to an outsider it can look pretty complicated, so rather than admit they don't understand it, most people trash it instead. The second problem is the equipment, it takes a lot of equipment to have a game and even balls aren't that common. Baseball has similar problems, and also the weather can be a rather limiting factor in some countries. I live near the best baseball facility in the country and it is pitiful, (just dugouts, no stands/bleachers, no proper outfield/walls)

Conversely soccer is so simple any fool can understand and all you need is a ball and away you go. That is why it is the global sport. Also its one sport that the US doesn't dominate.
Basketball also gets help from the simplicity factor. It seems to be growing as well. We have a local semi pro/pro team that gets pretty good attendances/media coverage. In fact the no.1 pick in the NBA draft a couple of years ago (he's a centre considered by some to be the second best behind Shaq, plays for the clippers) actually went to high school in the town I live in. He's actually Nigerian, but the British National team is trying like crazy to get him a British passport!

Ohio State Calculus Final Story............

The setting is Ohio State University about six or seven years ago in a huge lecture hall (approximately 1000 students) for a Calculus final. Apparently this particular calculus teacher wasn't very well liked. He was one of those guys who would stand at the front of the class and yell out how much time was remaining before the end of a test, a real charmer. Since he was so busy galavanting around the room making sure that nobody cheated and that everyone was aware of how much time they had left before their failure on the test was complete, he had the students stack the completed tests on the huge podium at the front of the room. This made for quite a mess, remember there were 1000 students in the class. Five minutes turned into ten, ten into twenty, twenty into fourty... almost an hour after the test was "officially over", our friend finally put down his pencil, gathered up his work, and headed to the front of the hall to submit his final. The whole time, the professor sat at the front of the room, strangely waiting for the student to complete his exam.
"What do you think you're doing?" the professor asked as the student stood in front of him about to put down his exam on one of the neatly stacked piles of exams (the professor had plenty of time to stack the mountain of papers while he waited). It was clear that the professor had waited only to give the student a hard time.

"Turning in my exam," retorted the student confidently.

"I'm afraid I have some bad news for you," the profesor gloated, "Your exam is an hour late. You've FAILED it and, consequently, I'll see you next term when you repeat my course."

The student smiled slyly and asked the professor "Do you know who I am?"

"What?" replied the professor grufly, annoyed that the student showed no sign of emotion.

The student rephrased the question mockingly, "Do you know what my name is?"

"NO", snarled the professor.

The student looked the professor dead in the eyes and said slowly, "I didn't think so", as he lifted up one of the stacks half way, shoved his test neatly into the center of the stack, let the stack fall burying his test in the middle, turned around, and walked casually out of the huge lecture hall.

The Scarlet and the Gray...

Two great golf courses at Thee Ohio State University! Most people don't of the Scarlet, but it was one of the longest and toughest courses I ever played back in the 60's.

OSU rules... What a great finish!!
