I think his feelings were hurt and he was embarrassed that he got scored on. He has left his crease to take a rabbit punch 3 or 4 times already in this series without one penalty being called on him. Stop B!tching you whining ole phuck! If you saw the penalty in game 2, where there was a goalie Interference on (I can't remember who it was, either Brashear or Primeau) Belfour skated out of the crease and intentionally skated into the Flyer and fell like he got shot by a missle. Pathetic. He got the call though.
I like it though. the Flyers have gotten in his head and his game has and will suffer because of it.
And, if there is one player on that team that makes me want to just jump through the TV with a hammer and beat him silly, it's Darcey Tucker. I have never seen a more pathetic, rabbit punching, cheap PHuck in my life. Talk about an acter that just makes officials look silly when they fall for his antics. I still think this kind of game favors the Avs. We stole the game yesterday by scoreing a lucky "persistance" goal, and the Avs panicked and started throwing pucks at the net. The Avs are better scorers and can score on any line on any shift. That, and Ebb on fire is haveing a great game.

Low scoring games like this are only boring if there are no scoring chances, this game has had plenty of those.

Both Aebischer & Nabakov have stopped clear cut breakaways and have come up big on shots from point blank range.

That's just two goaltenders doing their jobs, nothing boring about that if you ask me.

I'm still looking for some desperation in the Avs game, I've yet to see it. This is a situation where all the cliches about there being no tomorrow and backs against the wall apply. Time to see who can rise to the occasion.

I think the Avs have 2:45 to win this game. The way the puck is bouncing tonight, San Jose will get a break and it'll end up in the net behind Aebischer. After watching the Avs hit a post and a crossbar in the 3rd period, it's not hard to see which team has lady luck in their corner.

Second, you may hate Darcy Tucker as much as I hate Jeremy Roenick, but I'd take either one on my team (see Claude Lemeiux, Darius Kasparitis, even Ulf Samuellson(Sammy Wilson as we call him)) These guys are pains in everyones ass but their teammates.

Listening to the postgame show, Mike Haynes just said that there's a chance that Rob Blake could be back in the lineup for game 5 and Paul Kariya (remember him?) is skating again, so there's a chance that the Avs could have reinforcements on the way.

Not much difference going into game 5, it's a game 7 situation for the Avalanche once again.

First star of this game should absolutely go to David Aebischer. He deserved a better fate in game 3 and he slammed the door tonight to breath some life back into an Avalanche team that had one foot in the grave. He has to play better on the road though, he was blistered for 8 goals in games 1 & 2. He'll have to be at the top of his game to bring this series back to Denver.

Great job tonight by the Avs, if you're still in it, you can still win it. Just 3 wins away from making history.:)

If you saw the penalty in game 2, where there was a goalie Interference on (I can't remember who it was, either Brashear or Primeau) Belfour skated out of the crease and intentionally skated into the Flyer and fell like he got shot by a missle. Pathetic. He got the call though.
I like it though. the Flyers have gotten in his head and his game has and will suffer because of it.
And, if there is one player on that team that makes me want to just jump through the TV with a hammer and beat him silly, it's Darcey Tucker. I would love to talk more basketball if there was anyone to talk hoops with. I've started a few basketball threads over the course of the last year, but they were met with little interest.

Anytime anyone wants to talk hoops, I'm all for it.

Hockey is my first love, football is my mistress, basketball is like an old girlfriend who I still keep in touch with and baseball is the one I dumped but can't seem to get away from.

ive been in denver the last couple days taking care of my sister who just had knee surgery, so ive been off the board. im going back now and reading all the posts i missed.

clockwork, i tried again with a nuggets thread but it didnt work too well.
still though, ill talk basketball with you ANYTIME about ANY team at ANY level.
the broncos are #1 (and more important than all other teams COMBINED), and the avs are #2, but the SPORT of basketball is and always will be #1 for me, since its what i played and studied my whole life (my dad was a player and coach also).

sj, maybe someone else commented on the financial struggles of the NHL later in the thread (im only to this quoted post), but the revenue problem ISNT about ticket revenue. hockey actually has the second highest percentage of sellouts (after football), but the television interest is almost non existent. abc wont pony up, and without MAJOR tv contracts, ANY sport that has the costs that the nhl does would be in trouble.
most of the time when i hear teams and league's (and OF COURSE players) i think its a bunch of crap, but in hockey i believe them that they are in trouble. the bottom line is that the PRIMARY source of income now is the television contracts, and hocky has AWFUL ratings (beaten by golf, womens tennis, etc.). right now im not studying up on the situation much, because its depressing. we can only hope for the best.

also sj, let me say how impressed i am at your attitude.

Not that anyone cares but the Women's Team USA just got hosed by the Canadians.

Canada is up 1-0. In the second they shoot a puck that USA's goalie, Dryer, covers. I mean, she's on her knees. The puck is under her glove. Strangely no whistle blows. A Canadian skater comes crashing into her (which should've been a penalty) knocking the puck loose. While the Canadian player is still sprawled on top of Dryer, another one comes in and puts the puck into the net. All the Americans are waiting for the goal to be waved off and it's not.

In the third an American shoots the puck and it clearly (no doubt at all) goes into the net and bounces back out. Play continues. They don't score the goal.

Absolutely disgusting. This is for the Gold Medal. I know Canada had to have their 8th in a row, but what a lame way to "earn" it.

Hogan, I am now convinced that the NHL is desperately trying to get a team from Canada in the Finals. The penalties that have been called on the Flyers the last 2 games were down right laughable. Primeau was just laughing in McReary's face tonight after the penalty that was called on him to set the Make Beliefs up on a 5 on 3. Whatever though!

The officiating during the games in San Jose has been pretty terrible.

During the lone Avalanche PP in the first period there's a loose puck in front of the Shark net and Barnaby gets totally crosschecked in from behind, knocking his face into the skate of a player already on the ice. Ok, I can live with that not being called. But then they call Foote for going high on someone while on the PK, though it looked like he got throat and not face.

I'm anxiously awaiting a legit Colorado goal taken off the boards, ala game 2.

It doesn't really matter anyway, no Blake, no Kariya, and Tanguay is not the same player playing with his knee injury. Injuries have killed them all year and the playoffs have been no different.

That was an amazing shot by Sakic. I'm really happy how our leaders are being leaders at this point, when we need them to be. Peter made an awesome play.. Sakic a perfect shot. What a win!!! Sakic and Forsberg combine for just an amazing goal. I knew Foppa wasn't going to go three games without a point.

San Jose fans have to be worried that they can't close it out and they're still getting a lot of breaks. They've only managed 1 goal in two games and that came on a minute long 5-on-3 PP. Colorado has now hit 8 posts and had the controversial Forsberg goal in game 2 taken away, which would have put Colorado up 2-1 at that point.

The Pepsi Center is going to be rocking and San Jose has to be feeling it about now.

i must be honest and say that i felt there was a good chance we'd get swept, but ive said all along that if we could win game 4, it was at least POSSIBLE.
lets face it, injuries or not, this is a VERY talented avs team.

the real question now is... did we get in san jose's heads?

if the answer is yes, the avs may well pull off the miracle.

what an exciting series this has become, and what a great job of hanging tough the avs have done.
theyve gotten better game by game, and were CLEARLY the aggressor tonight. with all cylinders firing this team is dangerous.

nabokov has been amazing, but for all his brilliance, ALOT of it was simple missed chances by the avs.
hitting posts, shooting it into his chest on a breakaway, etc. etc.
he's been a wall, but my hope is that with finally a small crack in the wall, maybe we can open the floodgates.

i like our chances in a game 7, but its the game six that makes me nervous. another close game will favor the sharks. we finally solved the puzzle A LITTLE, and its time to capitalize and score 4 or 5 in one game.

we'll see guys.

i was in denver (briefly) for my sisters knee surgery, and i left to get back here at 6:00 thursday morning.
it was great, they played at every commercial.

some of it may be the ice in san jose. its not exactly the easiest place to control the puck.

that was what made forsbergs pass so much more impressive. he never settled the puck down, but when he realized he had no time to do so, he got the pass off anyway.

Of course being an Avs fan, I took delight in the Wings losing today. But wow...did you guys catch the clips of Stevie Y taking that puck in the face? Yikes! That didn't look good. Hope he's alright because he is a classy player.

Yzerman's injury is further proof as to why the NHL needs to mandate visors for everyone. If that puck hits Forsberg or Sakic in the same spot they skate away unscathed because they both wear visors. If Yzerman had one on he wouldn't have been writhing in pain and now possibly missing time in the Wings series (a series in which they now have their backs against the wall, they're in the same 3-2 hole the Avs are).

The unsung hero, once again, is David Aebischer. Since the Avs backs have been against the wall he's been stellar in the net. In games 4 & 5 he's stopped 48 of 49 shots to keep the Avs going long enough for Sakic to bury the winning goals.

One game at a time boys, focus on game 6 as if it's game 7 and send this one back to San Jose for a winner take all matchup.
