NFL Kickoff is here!

Right now Nola is heating up. Picking up right where they left off from the SB victory parade last year.

Just walked back from the Quarter. The party has offically started (and won't stop probably until Sunday)

DMB and Swift in concert at Jackson Square, a parade rolling up Tchoup, then on to the Superdome for the game.

I got hooked up with some Sponsor tix to the concert and game. Not that wild about the pregame entertainment but couldn't pass up the VIP treatment.

Drew Brees has started a new 'tradition'. After the coin toss, the honorary captain of each home game will go to the 30 and start a Who Dat chant in the Dome. The place will be LOUD. The banner will be dropped. Tough place for the Vikings to come in and play with a rusty Farve.

So glad real football is back!

They lost that game on turnovers.

That might have been the worst rendition of the National Anthem ever.

Agreed. I switched over to the SEC game on ESPN, they ran 4 plays in the time it took for that garbage rendition. It is one of the only things I used to enjoy about Dr Z at SI. He would clock the Anthem and grade the performance. As Z used to say "It is our anthem, it is not open to interpretation. Do it strait up, or don't do it at all." I agree whole heartedly, there are no scales, it is not a death march pace wise. I also agree with Z when he stated that the best version he had ever heard done was at the Army-Navy game by the combined quire of both schools, perfect and moving as hell.

Gas main with 200-300 lbs of pressure behind it. Had that happen in Aurora, I think it was back in the early 70's. These things can melt the lines as far as a 1/4 mile away.

I absolutely agree, it has become such a fad to do interpretations. Just do it like Karen Newman at Red Wings game, the way it was meant to be done.

It makes sense. They couldn't go the whole season running the ball 6 times per game. They had some really nice holes there as well.

I always liked Warner but that was an awesome graphic of the postseason QBs they showed. Warner and Manning with their heads in their hands and Favre sitting on the ground like he's playing in a sandbox and someone took his shovel.

Great SB win though I hate the NO fanbase.

While I agree on that, I do like that commercials have really become more entertaining. There's some pretty funny commercials out there these days. While Lewis' didn't sell me on old spice, the concept was amusing.

That's the exact kind of play that WRs love to cradle the ball in their crotch off the ground then pretend they caught it. Call on the field had to stand. His body blocked being able to tell either way.

His body was always sideways when it was in his crotch, you would have seen the ball if it touched the ground from his crotch.

Agree on the respect front, but I think it goes beyond that. For a guy who goes on and on about "loving the game" and wanting to win another SB, he sure has a funny way of showing it. Anyone else remember the way John Elway approached the off season during his career? Guy set the example by working his ass off at least as hard as anyone in the facility. Its called leadership. I'd rather hit the field with someone who demonstrates that desire all the time than the "woo hoo aint this fun like I'm still 8 years old" ass clown any day of the week. 'Cause frankly those guys aint worth a crap when it aint fun, and unfortunately it aint always fun. As for the "what am I doing here?" quote, heh...no **** Gramps, bet you've got a couple of teammates asking the same question about you right about now.

After the 1st TD, Michaels mentioned he said that on the way in as in "another year of this" while contrasting with what he must have been feeling after the TD throw.

The only problem is the ref that overruled ( back judge?)was the one that had no view of the play. the one that called catch had a view of the play.

Terrible call and screw up by not overturning it.

Oh ok, kinda misunderstood ya then. I recalled the Jets days when they said Favre had like his own little locker room so I thought it was in that sense.

Just seemed outrageous that they news crews would say anything negative about their majesty. Should've trusted my instincts.

I still don't think he makes it a full season this year.

Yeah. Hopefully when they're dragging bottom of the NFC-N. Favre and Cutler crying on each other's shoulder would make an image for the ages. Hopefully both of them are looking up at the Lions and Packers in envy when this season draws to a close.

The offense at Detroit may be another year or so away, but I think the D will be real good. Especially early in the season. They just showed a graphic on Gramp's performance tonight. He was 12 of 14 when the Saints rushed 4 or fewer for a 7.6 yard average and 1 TD, dropped to 3 of 13 when 5 or more rushed for a 5.0 yard average with 1 int. Think the blueprint is in place to shutting down the Viqueens at least in the early season? Miami (next up for Gramp's) then the Lions. Heh heh heh....this could be fun to watch.

My thoughts... got home late from practice (Ky kicked ass ;D). Sat down, grabbed a beer and continue to watch where I had left off, which was NO up by 7 after one quick series. Kind of a boring game. Two very good team and both coaches did remarkable with their in game adjustments. Roman Harper on Shank to keep him from burning them any more. Zone blitzes from Chili. Finally going to the ground game and running back side zone plays on top of that.

I think the best moment of that game came when CC was talking about Pierre Thomas and his 4.66 speed. Look how effective he is, just takes time. And I'm willing to be Knowshon is a heckuva lot better back than Pierre, and I hold Pierre in a pretty high regard.

Any, I'm left thinking WTF do the start this on Thursday/. It's a friggin tease. I need more football, going to watch the Broncos/Lions game again to get me fix.

To top matters off, I find out tonight that we have three games on Sunday... 9-10-11. Y'all better not be texting me score up dates. I'll hunt you down and burn your thumbs to stubs.

Favre will rack up a nice chunk of passing yards due to Nawlings pathetic secondary but he will also get a leg up on Cutler in the race for league leader in INTs.

New Orleans has a very solid secondary. Their linebackers are a bit weak in pass protection, but their secondary is solid.
