Looks like he might be released, he was a relativly hot commodity last offseason - with the injuries might he be worth a look?

can he continue to fumble the ball?

No, just another 30ish RB.

We should start getting our bigger power runners back soon so I would say pass. Buck would play his role and he is supposed to be back as early as next week.

"Right now, Kareem Huggins looks like the better running back"

That's an undrafted rookie RB from Hofstra who looks better than Derrick Ward. I.e. the Bucs, who have had desperate needs at RB, have essentially said "Derrick Ward is like 3rd or 4th on our depth chart after guys who have battled serious injury and some no name rookie RB."

Ha. Yes, let's sign him to a 3-year contract!

Funny, the Broncos went after him hard last offseason and I think even offered him a contract. Also funny that so many are instantly dismissing him. If Moreno and/or Buckhalter aren't ready to go of course he's an option you have to at least consider. Did you see that garbage we trotted out there last night?

unless Fargas's knee is worse than they expected, I have no interest in Derrick Ward

LOL Ward didn't fumble at all last year!

Sounds like he's not so smart, though. Being buried on a depth chart behind an undrafted rookie, no matter how good, is not a good sign.

Without Ward, tampa bay averaged 5.66 Yards per carry during their preseason game. With him, their team's YPC dropped to 4.21. He also fumbled twice. He has less than half the yards per carry that lance ball has, and this was against second stringers.

We should stay away from ward like we should stay away from bubonic plague.

vote of confidence from coach...

Derrick Ward, who finished with just 20 yards on 12 carries Saturday, was reportedly miffed about the playing conditions Saturday night. Analysis: He wasn't the only one. Sun Life Stadium was a slop-pit. Coach Raheem Morris wasn't buying Ward's alibi, though: "I think he's just got to go out there and be mentally tough and just go out there and do it. (Kareem Huggins) found a way to grind through it with that same unit."

Derrick Ward was a good RB for the Giants. Not sure why he sucks so bad now, maybe he just doesn't care about the pre-season...
