In the good old days, it seemed that no later than August 7, we'd have our first preseason game. We still have nearly two full weeks before our August 15th opener!

I think the Super Bowl is the pregame show for March Madness this year.

After a long, hot summer, I can wait a couple of weeks for "almost" football...:strong:

I always liked it when the NFL opened the regular season on Labor Day weekend, which was the case for many many years. Then a few years ago they shifted to a start one week later for tv reasons (better ratings if the season started one week later). That made training camps start later, preseason games start later in August, and more games in the cold at the end of the season (i.e. playoffs well into January and early February). Plus because of the $%#$@ US Open Tennis tournament and CBS's coverage of that on opening weekend, we never seem to get a Bronco home game to open the season.

I'm hoping if the NFL goes to an 18 game schedule they start EARLIER (like the weekend before labor day for the openers) but I fear they'll stick with the current "weekend after labor day" start. This would make the preseason start 2 weeks later than this season, and push the playoffs well into February.

Is anyone else having some kind of timeout when you try to start a thread? The posts go through fine.

At least it's August. The last few months were killers.

Not going to happen, if anything it might start later, they try to listen to the fans and what the fans want and if they start later the Super Bowl can be President's Day weekend where "some" people have Monday off...which is what most fans want

Yes I've had this problem. On my post earlier today it wouldn't go through when I had a long subject line ("Mcdaniels interview on vic and gary") When I shortened the subject line to 2 words then it went through. I had the same problem the other day.

I loved it when it started on Labor Day Weekend. Had the next day off which made it all the more enjoyable and it seemed like the Broncos won all the time. Since when did Tennis become so important that it messed with the NFL, particularly the Broncos.

It's a known issue. I've been trouble shooting it with the vBulletin guys. We think it's a server setting, but haven't yet figured out which one. It's a trial and error process right now...
