Isn't Tebow's total deal MUCH higher than Bryant's? 5 year 12 million compared to 5 year $33 million. The guaranteed money is almost the same, so I'm guessing the 33 million is if he hits every incentive in the contract. Still a huge number for 25th overall

Good contract. Probably a lot of escalators he won't hit (things like the number of special team plays he is on the field for, etc). A fair number he will, so I think we are probably looking at 5 years, 22 million or there abouts. A deal compared to other QBs if Tebow delivers.

Listening to Mike Klis of the Post on 87.7 fm. The Tebow contract is a good one but the 33 million figure has alot of bonuses in it that are unlikely to be reached. Like "4 pro bowls in the 1st 5 years". The real contract is more like 11.25 million with 8.7 guaranteed. The 8.7 guaranteed is higher than Dez's and a little higher that Kils expected. But the 11.25 million isn't too far off of where Tebow was slotted to be.

Now let's get Thomas signed!

I doubt DT will expect more, his deal will be a bit more than Dez Bryant's, probably two million more in guarantees.

Rep. Couldn't agree more. He was like 3 days from a holdout. What a total hypocrite. 4 days - sure I could live with (although, I would have preferred 5 days cushion). But 3. That's way way too close to holding out for a supposed Christian. Just a total phony. I want my money back.

Its amazing that Tebow gets 8 million dollars for having done nothing. It's not a slight at him really, but that money is incredible for a player that has never played a down. It really is an awful part of the NFL and I suspect is one of the key arguments in the cba in the next year.

Any 1st round pick who maxes out a contract is worth every penny for that very reason. Would anyone actually complain about Tebow maxing out on a deal that means he made 4 Pro Bowls in his first 5 seasons?

Mr. Elway
07-29-2010, 04:58 PM
This is fine and all but he's never going to get those 2 days of pre-practice back. All season we'll have to deal with him being 2 days behind everyone else. You think that's no big deal but in the NFL that's a lifetime. He'll never catch up.

He played plenty of downs in college that he didn't get paid for. Consider it back pay.

5/$12.75 was it? $8.35 guaranteed? Up to $33 mil meeting incentives. I heard the base deal is 18% higher than last year's #25.

So the only premium he got over Dez was on the guaranteed, I guess.

Just to put things in context, remember that Cutler's original contract was 11 mill guaranteed, and 48 million over 6 years. This contract looks positively frugal by comparison. Bradford is shooting for 50 million guaranteed and possibly more then 80 with escalators?

I predict until the 3rd pre-season game until the Orangemane starts clambering for Tebow to start.

I predict that it will happen after the first Orton incompletion, or pass for less than 5 yards. Then again after the first INT or sack. Then again if Brady Quinn gets any playing time whatsoever.
