Installed a new intake manifold and had the converter restalled over the Winter. Car was retuned and now makes

626rwtq

Headed out to make a few hits on the combo. Previous best ET was 10.52@127 1.44 60' in cold November. Density Altitude was a near perfect 400'

New best is now 10.37@131 with a miserable 1.55 60' but the GREAT thing was that I ran these new ET's in 2800' DA on a nice balmy 90* day :strong:

So I figured that I can no longer run on 26" tires due to the increase of torque that the car is now making. The remedy was to try 28" tires - the added sidewall should help with traction. If I can get the car back down to the low/mid 1.4 range I should be able to dip into the 10.teens or 10.oh's - i'm hoping that by the time the 400' air comes around - can we say 9's on a stock shortblock :afro:

As the car sits now - lowered the rearend by 1" and raised the front 1/2" - stuffed the big 28" tires under there.

Why not spoiler in back, air dam in front to increase aero-dynamics once you hit 80, or is that illegal?

Love those 5.0 Notchback Mustangs-it's hard to tell, but are you running Caltracs? C4 or PG? Looks like maybe you're at Norwalk? Very nice Car, hope your Tire switch drops those 60's!

We had my friends VW bug doing under 10 seconds back in the 90's before he died. Andrew Costello racing. Man he could drive and build a race car. Good luck with your project but we used to put a lot v-8 to shame. Especially back before he hit the track and his bug was about 12 second car. We would go around on the street blowing the doors off everyone lol. Man that car was the biggest sleeper ever.

Not much to see there - 306 with a little turbo on it. I never put any "bling" on the engine since it doesn't make it any faster. I probably should consider sprucing the engine bay up a little at some point in time.

That VW sounds like it was a pretty wicked ride. I'm the slowest of all of my street car friends - I have a buddy with a convertible fox body that runs 8.20@163 - hard to compete with stuff like that.

Most of my guys run mid 9's and faster on street tired cars, I don't have the bank account for that
