There are benefits though. Foreigners can serve in the military during wartime.

FYI, that doesn't make you or your buddy barryr any less hypocritical if you gave Bush a pass for seeking amnesty and work visas for illegals.
"Giving him a pass" is probably putting it too kindly - many of you voted for Daddy's Little War Criminal again in '04 with the knowledge that Dim Son was seeking amnesty and work visas.
Furthermore, your brilliant observation (I'm sure we're all impressed that you know who the president is) does nothing to dispute my argument that cheap labor conservatives benefit more from illegal immigration than anyone else in our society.

Probably the same number of jobs the multinational corporations who benefited most from Bush's tax cuts (which, BTW, were supposed to "stimulate the economy" and spur job creation) created with their windfalls during the Bush years: Zero. (In fact, the first net job loss since Hoover occurred on Bush's watch.)
But then, I'm a self-employed individual who works as a freelance musician - not a corporation or a business owner. So at least I have some excuse for not creating jobs - unlike the greedy fat cats you shill for.

Wow, here's a Bush you righties will never get behind!
A legal immigration system is the not-so-secret edge in a competitive, interconnected world economy. Immigrants enhance our ability to grow and prosper in the dynamic global marketplace. We will need every possible advantage to expand our economy amid its fiscal challenges. Moreover, the aging of our population places a premium on young, productive workers, many of whom must come from immigration.
To improve their integration into our American community, we should:
-- Provide low-cost English classes, in cooperation with local civic and religious groups, where immigrants build personal ties with co-ethnics and native-born Americans. These connections foster assimilation and help newcomers navigate our complex institutions.
-- Invest in public education, including civics education and higher education. During the first half of the 20th century, schools were critical to preparing children of immigrants for success and fostering a shared national identity.
-- Assist communities experiencing rapid increases in immigration, which is traumatic for those arriving here and for receiving communities. Schools and hospitals bear disproportionate costs of immigration, while the economic and fiscal benefits from immigration accrue nationally.
Assimilation does not mean immigrants shed ethnic identities. Our national experience with hyphenated identities shows that good Americans can retain a strong sense of ethnic identity.
We've lived our national motto, "E Pluribus Unum" ("Out of Many, One"), better than any other country. But we ought not to airbrush our ancestors' difficulties in assimilation, nor fail to match our forebears' efforts to help integrate immigrants. Government, churches, libraries, civic organizations and businesses must cooperate to address this challenge, as they did a century ago.

Justice Dept. challenges Ariz. immigration law
The U.S. Justice Department is filing a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of Arizona's new law targeting illegal immigrants, setting the stage for a clash between the federal government and state over the nation's toughest immigration crackdown.
The planned lawsuit was confirmed to The Associated Press by a Justice Department official with knowledge of the plans. The official didn't want to be identified before a public announcement planned for later Tuesday.
The lawsuit will argue that Arizona's new measure requiring state and local police to question and possibly arrest illegal immigrants during the enforcement of other laws, like traffic stops, usurps federal authority.
Tuesday's action has been expected for weeks. President Barack Obama has called the state law misguided. Supporters say it is a reasonable reaction to federal inaction on immigration.
The law requires officers, while enforcing other laws, to question a person's immigration status if there's a reasonable suspicion that they are in the country illegally.
Republican Gov. Jan Brewer signed the law in April, and it was set to go into effect July 29. The lawsuit could delay implementation of the law.
Arizona passed the law after years of frustration over problems associated with illegal immigration, including drug trafficking and violent kidnappings. The state is the biggest gateway into the U.S. for illegal immigrants, and is home to an estimated 460,000 illegal immigrants.
The lawsuit is expected to be announced by Attorney General Eric Holder and Homeland Security secretary Janet Napolitano, a former Arizona governor.
President Barack Obama addressed the Arizona law in a speech on immigration reform last week. He touched on one of the major concerns of federal officials, that other states were poised to follow Arizona by crafting their own immigration enforcement laws.
"As other states and localities go their own ways, we face the prospect that different rules for immigration will apply in different parts of the country," Obama said. "A patchwork of local immigration rules where we all know one clear national standard is needed."
The law makes it a state crime for legal immigrants to not carry their immigration documents and bans day laborers and people who seek their services from blocking traffic on streets.
The law also prohibits government agencies from having policies that restrict the enforcement of federal immigration law and lets Arizonans file lawsuits against agencies that hinder immigration enforcement.

Outsourcing happened on Clinton's watch, it's true, but it didn't happen on anywhere near the same scale as it did under Bush and the repukes.
Remember: The court-appointed fraud presided over the first net job loss since Hoover.
NAFTA was a monstrous mistake, obviously, but I don't think Clinton knew it was going to turn out that way. He was expecting that there would be a level playing field with regard to worker's wages, environmental standards, etc.

I'll wait for the resident righties to give some credit where due, but certainly won't hold my breath.
Deportations in 2010 and 2009 were higher than at any time during the Bush administration -- something that has to be viewed within the context of a declining undocumented immigrant population.Of course, when Bush wanted to press immigration reform, both Kyl and McCain were on board. Now they're attacking Obama for lax enforcement, even though he's taken a harder line on deportations than Bush ever did.
