I'm not talking about some night club where everyone is dancing . . . you're out with your buds at sports bar downing some cold ones before the game starts . . . what do you want to hear?

1. Roadhouse Blues -- The Doors
2. Summer of '69 -- Bryan Adams
3. Boys of Summer -- Don Henley
4. Already Gone -- The Eagles
5. D'yer Mak'er -- Led Zeppelin
6. Dead Flowers -- Rolling Stones
7. Honky Tonk Women -- Rolling Stones
8. Cum On Feel the Noize -- Quiet Riot

Anything AC/DC
JET
GNR is a good choice
Stones - Gimme Shelter, Tumbling Dice, Street fighting man, All down the line, Rocks off, Lots others...

Really anything loud with 3 chords and distortion works.

BTW I love Boy's of Summer, that was a breakup song for me. Building the perfect Beast all of 1985 and 86.

Good list of tunes though

8. Cum On Feel the Noize -- Quiet Riot

Hey, Moops -- Love you listing "Cum On Feel the Noize," but if you're gonna go there, you should go for Slade's original, from 1973:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VfdQxBOZIro&feature=related

QR actually slowed it down in their cover! I've met dozens of people who didn't know that it was a cover... just a shame, cuz the song was a good 10 years ahead of its time.

Cisqo's Thong Song. Oddly enough, in a town that is 93% white like Florence is, this is frequently played at the sports bar...

God knows why.

Just to name a few I would like to hear when at a bar with some friends.....

Wherever I may roam - Metallica
Bad Company - (remake) Five Finger Death Punch
Cowboys From Hell - Pantera
Awake - Godsmack
Toxicity - System Of A Down
Madhouse - Anthrax
Blough Me Away - Breaking Benjamin
Conflict - Disturbed

That's funny. I can't even give the real name of the song by Breaking Bejamin because obviously you can't say B L O W M E on the forums, too funny. Hilarious!

Any bars in Denver that wire in the sound (announcer) from the stadium? That would be fun....I like the noise of the game but not necessarily the commentary from the announcers on TV.

Living in Vegas and watching UNLV Rebels games...this one is fun and is played as much as the fight song:

The record label wanted them to record that. They purposely tried to mess the song up on their first take (which made the record). The label loved that version so much, they put it on the record....

Huh. That part I hadn't heard, cuz I've never paid much attention to Quiet Riot. Funny, tho, how they turned right around and did it again to "Mama Weer All Crazee Now."

Summer of '69? I'm over 40 too and I've heard the others, but not that one, it would get booed. My friends and I had a bar that we went to and at the end of the night we would play Stairway to Heaven and of course, no one could hear it because we were all singing it.

Depends on what time of day it is and why you are there.

If you are there in the afternoon for some Bloodies, brunch, and maybe a game, then something more for background atmosphere is in order: a little Medeski, Martin and Wood, or even some mellow Kinks.

If you are there in the evening and not quite ready to kill but are gearing up for a night out, then the Cure should be on.

If you are ready to crush skulls and pound shots then it doesn't much matter, as long as it's from the 80's and you know at least half the chorus.

If you are down in the dumps and just trying to drink to forget, then just about any Willie Nelson or Waylon Jennings will do.

This is about Bar songs that you play to get roudy. I am not going to put on Round Midnight by Monk if I was out with some guys drinking beer in a dive.

I agree people tastes these days are pretty narrow. I bet there are < 20 people on this board who own more than 5-10 classical music CD's or equivelent downloads, I am not talking samplers either, but this thread was about your favorite bar music.

Pretty rare to find an internet connected juke that has these but there's a handful of Black Flag / Circle jerks / Adolescents tunes that always get me fired up as well.

Wasted, Live Fast Die Young, Wrecking Crew, etc.

I grew up on 80's punk and love it when the Warped Tour generation comes up and asks..."Wow, who is THAT?"

A little off topic... so I live about four doors down from a park here in Crested Butte. The park is used heavily during the summer for wedding receptions. I'm getting really good at being able to predict the songs being played. No dorky white people wedding is complete without:

1. PYT
2. Play that funky music
3. Celebration
4. Brickhouse
5. YMCA
6. Love Shack
7. Ice Ice Baby
8. Summer of '69
9. Crazy Little Thing Called Love
10. Dancing Queen

Also, the Brick House Gap (number of songs between Brick House and YMCA) is inversely proportional to the dancing ability of the guests. Back to back and it looks like a flash mob of epileptic accountants out there....

If we are all being honest about what songs we'd play on the old juke box, then we probably all have to admit (at least I do) that 80 to 90% of the song/album selections in the local bar's juke box are songs I DON'T WANNA HERE.

Therefore, I'm just gonna say that most of the juke box songs I'd pick (if not all of them) would not be offered on the juke box...
