Good gawd. how anyone can follow this party is beyond me. Steele bashed obama on jobs and when challenged said Bush created alot of jobs. Bush:spit:Oh well at least he is almost confident.
Steele Makes Up Facts: ‘George Bush Created A Lot Of Jobs’
Republican National Committee
Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele appeared on CNBC this morning to bash President Obama for supposedly not having a clear plan to create jobs. But when hosts Erin Burnett and Mark Haines pressed Steele to present an alternative, all he could offer were predictable Republican talking points like, “Don’t trust the government to get it done.” When Burnett pressed again, asking, “What specifically is the Republican Party going to offer?” Steele simply continued attacking Obama, adding that we should “trust” job creators, like Wall Street.
Steele then suggested that we return to the failed economic polices of President Bush, because, Steele said, Bush “created a lot of jobs.” Haines, obviously stunned by the remark, exclaimed, “Beg your pardon?”:
STEELE: George Bush created a lot of jobs.
HAINES: Beg your pardon?
STEELE: I think there were jobs created in the eight years that George Bush was in office.
HAINES: No I’m sorry, you’re mistaken. [...]
STEELE: I think jobs were created. I’m almost confident about that. And I think the markets reflect that. [...]
HAINES: So, did the Lehman blow up and all, that didn’t happen on Bush’s watch? … You were talking about the markets. The markets tanked. [...]
While Steele is “almost confident” that Bush created jobs, the facts disagree. As the Wall Street Journal noted in the last month of Bush’s term — in an article that Burnett references on air while fact checking Steele — Bush’s job data “shows the worst track record for job creation since the government began keeping records.” A paltry 1 million jobs were created under Bush; that’s “a fraction of the 23 million jobs created under President Bill Clinton’s administration.” Even President Carter — who conservatives love to cite as the paragon of poor economic management, and who only served one term — created 10.5 million jobs. That’s more than three times as many jobs as Bush, in half as much time. More jobs may be created under Obama in this year alone than in Bush’s eight.

What's funny (and it's been mentioned several times) so here's my futile attempt. Conservatives don't stand behind what Bush was doing (specifically 06 to 08). His policies were progressive not conservative. You know, like Obama's policies. So you got more of the same - not change. When you criticize/challenge conservative ideology based on Bush's actions you are missing the mark entirely. But carry on, Repubs are idiots because look what Bush did ... blah, blah, blah.
Hope and Change got you more of the same.
Hilarious!
Actually it's not funny because we are all suffering.

Oh and McCain wouldn't have been any better, for the record. This country needs true conservative leadership. That is what the Tea Party is about. Another subject, but something else that many have clearly and intentionally way off the mark.

I agree with this except the part about the Tea Party. When I see the Tea Party actually start so say exactly and specifically how they're going to cut spending and address the deficit I'll perhaps become a believer. What are they going to cut, how are they going to cut it, and when? Unless they start advocating cutting defense/military spending, cutting into Medicare, and doing something about Social Security (means testing? capping benefits? raising the tax ceiling?), along with a way to increase overall tax revenues, they are a fraud. Stop with the shrill, hyperbolic, divisive and intemperate right-wing rhetoric and give me some substance.

I hate when this subject comes up. A president shouldn't be responsible for "creating" jobs, unless it's a bunch of government positions (like census takers). The president and Congress can make laws which encourage or discourage job creation, but they don't "create" jobs...

I just have a question. Do you really expect anyone to take you seriously when all you do is call Republicans, AKA, people you disagree with, Rightards? I mean, you lose all credibility immediately and look like a petulant child on a playground.

These endpoint stats to determine job creation are pretty disingeneous for two main reasons. First unemployment was reasonable low when Bush started and near full employment levels so you can't create tens of millions of jobs in that case. But nonetheless Bush did create quite a few jobs during the first 7 years of his administration. At one point he was at 5.5m jobs added before the crash hit. He had exceptionally low unemployment on average over his 8 years, the same level as Clinton.
For the same reason with Obama having a high unemployment situation there is plenty of room for increasing jobs. But we all know, at least those that are honest with themselves, that the jobs created so far are primarily government jobs and many of them related to the census, i.e. temporary and low paying. The private sector is still struggling.

Hmm, I don't remember being a member of Steele's fan club, so I don't feel the need to defend anything he or really republican says I don't agree with, unlike people like you who have to with democrats.
Creating jobs is not done largely by the private sector when they have good assurance they aren't going to be taxed to death in the process. I know this concept is hard for brickheads like yourself to grasp, but people who operate their own business aren't obligated to lose money, they gasp, are wanting to make money and won't hire if the government is intent on taking more and more of their earnings, which typically democrats are in favor of doing. That is from the companies who aren't in bed with them and or the government itself.
But continue on the "republicans only care about the wealthy" idiocy that has run its course for those that don't still have their heads up their asses :curtsey:

Don't hate on Jon Stewart just because most of the humor goes over your head. The sad fact is The Daily Show does more journalism, even though comically and sarcastically, than the networks and cable news shows often do.
