That's Slovenia scoring on the US.

The US goal that we were butt****ed out of, is being banned by FIFA on youtube.

FIFA try and ban all goals if they can. Not hard to find though if you look.

For example.

Bet you they don't ban them after the ruling tomorrow. Probably don't want their committee getting influences.

Yeah I a know long shot theory but maybe!

meh - you want to see a team that has really been done over by officials at the World Cup, you need look no further than the Australians.

They may not be contenders, but because of their "rep" the refs have not doen them justice. They'd have at least escaped their group.

Give the coaches challenges on spot kicks, red cards and contentious goals imo.

Blatantly the right decision on the penalty and sending off for Kewell yesterday if that's what you're referring to.

Didn't see the rest of the game.

100% correct.

You get the red not by the hand ball itself, but by preventing a goal due to the ball striking your arm/hand. It doesn't have to be deliberate in that case.

Tough break.

I'm no soccer expert, but that forward looks wildly offsides.

Had the play been a pass or touched in any way by the player, it might've been. It looked like the two players both broke behind the line just before the shot was taken. Since it was a shot though, fair game.

Though the game WAS over, possibly the WORST red card EVER given:

I agree with the Kewell red card though, it's not the referees job to know whether your eyes were open.

I will admit it though New Zealand got totally ROBBED of a glorious 1-0 victory over Italy!
At about the 1:50 mark of this video, the Italian takes a horrible dive and is rewarded by the ref:

And it seems so simple but people keep failing. If you're in or near the goal in a blocking position, keep your arms in. You don't need your arms out when your only task is to stand there.

Yeah...FIFA damage control in action.

What they dont realize is that this goal is now the story of the tournament for people who watched the match.

It will be even worse if the US do not beat Algeria this wednesday.

Not really. That was one game in a 16-game season.

This is the world cup, where every game is a superbowl and it takes 4 years of qualifying to get the chance to get results in those three games. So much is at stake. Taking a goal away is brutal. Especially when that goal capped off a comeback for the ages and converted a loss into a win.

I haven't seen anything on their statement they were supposed to release today (I haven't looked very hard) but has anyone seen it? Regarding the future of the ref.

As a non-partisan, part time soccer fan, I can tell you: The USA will NEVER win the World Cup!

Why? ... Because all the referees look like terrorists!

I posted an article about it in the World Cup thread if you want a full story. http://www.orangemane.com/BB/showpost.php?p=2868172&postcount=1186

In short though, he has not been chosen to do any of the last round or group games and should be done for the tournament. At the press conference, they decided reporters would not be allowed to ask about specific calls even though that is exactly what they said all weekend could be done. They essentially cowarded out of coming out and saying the call was wrong.
