Has anybody used any of the cell phones that have the swype texting feature? Thinking about turning my LG Dare into a Samsung Omnia 2 that has the swype texting. Can't stand the LG Dare as it takes forever (rework) to type out a 100 character text message. I like everything else about the phone though. Battery life is great, features work well, etc. But I end up in a lot of meetings and can't break free to talk, but getting out a text message is easy enough during a 4 or 5 minute "bio" break.

So, if anybody has used any of the smart phones that have Sywpe texting, please let me know how you like it and if it is in fact faster than a regular touch screen and if it compares to a qwerty keyboard like that of a black berry or LG Rumor or something of that sort.

Thanks for the help ;D

The Swype folks are going to be bringing out an Android version that will run on pretty much any Android based phone. That would really open up your options...

Alright, so I just got a new phone. Has a traditional qwerty keyboard plus touchscreen keyboard... plus it is the Android based system so eventually (hopefully soon) I will be able to get the swype texting as well. I think the whole swype thing is kind of gimmicky, but I've often thought it would be nice to do just what swype offers. I type about 80 words a minute and can punch out about 35 per minute on my bb, really the only thing that slows me down is the phone's response time... with swype, I think I may be able to get into the 40-50 words per minute range. Not super important, but since I'm often in meetings and don't have time to call, texting has become more and more a preferred form of communication for me. So, thanks for the responses and keep them coming.

Not that I am a supper fats texter as it is, but I can't see where this is any faster than what I can do on my own with a regular keypad.

Android has an app called ShapeWriter, which is essentially Swype. I use it and like it on my Droid

Ok, slowly buying in. Next step would be to get an actual touch screen phone.

I am one of the few who hates swype. I know once you get used to it you love it but I always got tired of it.

Too cheap. My phone works great and I don't want to pay for any kind of data plan to actually use all of the features on them that would make it worth getting one.
