No respect, even with Tebow on our team!

Not even Tim Tebow can soothe this type of pain. The oddsmakers believe the San Francisco 49ers are better than the Broncos.

The Las Vegas Hilton Sports Book, the world's largest sports gaming casino, has posted the Broncos' over/under win total at 7 1/2.

Even with what appears to be an easier Broncos schedule, even with the draft selection of Tebow, even with Hilton sports book director Jay Kornegay an admitted Broncos fan, the wise guys have a pessimistic outlook on Denver's upcoming season.

"There's an 'if' at almost every position," Kornegay said. "Every time our guys got together, that word came up. It's a big, two-letter word in that Bronco camp."

Worse, it's difficult to figure out where those eight victories would come from if a fan bets the 'over.' Hilton has posted the lines on five Broncos games — at Jacksonville (-2 1/2); home against Indianapolis (-4 1/2); vs. 49ers (-2) in London; at San Diego (-9 1/2); and home vs. the Chargers (+3 1/2) — and Denver is the underdog in four.

Even the 49ers, who haven't posted a winning season in eight years, are favored.

"Teams going in opposite directions," Kornegay said.

Ouch!

Well, I can't really disagree with that. There are a ton of "ifs". I'm hoping that things break the right way, but they could very well head the wrong way.

I agree with the idea that there are a lot of ifs, that's just fact. I disagree with the idea that we're on the decline while the 49ers are on an uptrend.

McD has to be given time. Posters like yourself just don't have any patience.

Franchise RB and TE, up and coming WR's, promising rookies on the Oline.

NTM a young and very underrated defense, if Alex Smith finally steps his game up, this team could be pretty good next year.

IMO He should, he doesn't have anymore excuses not to.

McD has to be given time. Posters like yourself just don't have any patience.I think what they're basically saying is that the moves McDaniels made have created more "IFs" than it has created any reason(s) to believe we're heading in the right direction.

I agree that it will take time. Will it happen this year?
Probably not, but what I'd really like to see this season is a sliver of hope that we have a team poised to be contenders again in a year or so, that being McDaniels 3rd year...

I thought you were talking about the Broncos before you mentioned Alex Smith. Seriously.

Angels were 85-1 the January before they won their World Series.

I should have clarified. I do think the 49ers are getting better, I don't think the Broncos are headed in the opposite direction.

How many people had us going 6-0 to start the season this past year? There is a reason that they play the game.

For the record, many Broncos fans share this sentiment. Contrary to popular belief, this does not mean that we are rooting for the team to lose or not true fans.

Just wanted to clear that up.

Well... the team shipped out a major douchebag in Jay Cutler, for starters. Ha!

Man, it's a shame that Vegas knows exactly what will happen every year before the start of the season.

Oh well. Start thinking about 2011, I guess. Maybe almighty Vegas will give us some love then.

7.5 isn't unreasonable. It's a tad bit lower than my expectations, but not alot lower. I think the team is probably good for about 9 wins. I'm not sure why people are upset that we're not getting respect from Las Vegas. What have the Broncos done to earn respect? We're similar to about 20 teams in this league...a middle of the road club with about an equal number of strengths and weaknesses. There's probably an elite group of about 6 clubs, and 6 dismal clubs and around 20 others that could break double digit wins if things bounce the right way, but they could also end up with 6 wins if they don't.

7.5 wins is simply saying Vegas thinks we're essentially an average club. Well...that's not an unreasonable prediction based on the entirety of circumstances. We're still a middle of the road club in the midst of a transition to new systems and new personnel.

Your right man. Vegas and :espnsux: know everything. Wheres Salsbury Steak been? He always knows more about the Broncos than we do. Crap! I can't believe we drafted :tebow:! Mel is the best talent evaluator
ever! Just look at what he says about our mesiah!
"I still am skeptical ... He can't live with that delivery in the NFL," Kiper said. "He's not that accurate, he doesn't have a great arm. ... I just don't see Tim Tebow in the near future, distant future, being a successful starting quarterback."

:Whaaaa!:

7.5 wins is about right. Broncos could go from 6-9 to 9-6 depending on how the ball bounces. They could squeak into the playoffs, but they aren`t contenders.

Vegas isn't predicting anything except that half the money will bet the under and half the money will bet the over.

exactly. it doesnt matter how many wins tehy actually think denver will win, they are predicting based on perception of the team and what they think people will bet on, and some people are still stuck on the "omg tebow no cutler no marshall no wins!!1!!" thing.

I like this.

It's a fair assessment and it means I can put money on us - over and actually have a decent chance of getting some return. Any higher and I'm just not confident enough in this team atm.

It was hard to gauge the team's progress and new identity last year.
The vision should be a lot more clear after this year...
