Al-Qaida's number three — a co-founder of the terror network — has been killed in Pakistan's border area with Afghanistan, according to a statement attributed to the group that was posted on Islamist websites Monday.
His death has been mistakenly reported before, but this is the first time it has been acknowledged by al-Qaida, whose statement added that his wife, three of his daughters, his granddaughter and other men, women and children were killed.

One senior U.S. official speaking on condition of anonymity told NBC News that al-Yazid was killed in an attack by a missile-carrying Predator drone aircraft.

Other sources told NBC's Jim Miklaszewski that the attack took place more than a week ago. The U.S. did not want to publicize the death until al-Qaida had confirmed it, which it did Monday.

And a dozen to take his place.

Don't kid yourself.dozens of which that don't have his significance. this guy was part of Osamas' direct inner circle. none of the dozens that will want to take his place will have the same know how that he did nor the trust of osama. There was OBL, some other guy, & him. If this were a 3 headed snake, we just chopped off 1 of them.

Until the stop is put to so many mosques teaching "kill the infide" and muslim school teaching that **** to kids, terrorism is here to stay.

I guess they gave up the old "we killed the #2 in Al Queda" line and replaced it with this one, eh?

This guy was the money man, the organizer.... the thug who made all things happen for al-queda.
He will not be easily replaced.

Some commentators think he was the most important of all the possible targets.

It seems similar things have been stated many times about others who have been killed too though.

Yeah, but that was during Bush's regime when any militant death was a reason to chest beat and exaggerate their importance.

This guy was a founder and THE operations guy for Al-Qaida

He was a prime target and a major loss for the bad guys.

No exaggeration! ;D

Yes.

Bush might have wanted him dead on his watch, but it never happened.

But if it had, you can bet that the 'Mission accomplished' banner would have been dusted off,
hung high behind GW and Bush would have made another of his incoherent speeches. ;D
