View Full Version : Last ten years, what's the longest you've gone without Internet?

We just moved this weekend, and I went two days without Internet access. It occurred to me that that was the longest I had been on the wagon in the last ten years, give or take. It wasn't as fun and therapeutic as people have told me. In fact, it pretty much sucked.

But we're all set up now, and I am loving my new office in our new home.

Now that I have my Iphone, It's probably been since I was in 7th grade... so at least 10 years since I haven't had any form of internet really. Maybe without it for a night or something if it went out, but never a full 24 hours since I got it back in 7th grade (when I moved to Oklahoma). I guess before that the longest would've been 3 days when I moved from Colorado to Oklahoma.

I was in Costa Rica for my honeymoon. It was 7 days and it was nice to be disconnected for a bit. I think I did check once on the hotel net because it was during the world cup but thats it.

When did Al Gore invent the internet? I went my whole life without it until then

Does only having dial-up count as not having internet?

I went a month (out of the country) where I only was able to check it 3-4 times. I was having enough fun that I barely noticed, but those first few days were a strange experience.

Even now, if I have to go a day without checking email it starts to stress me out. Even if I know I probably have no important messages coming in. It's a little crazy just how dependent/addicted I and everyone I know have become in just a decade.

The longest I have gone has to be when I sleep at night. I can't recall a day spent without internet in the past 10 years.

Studied at Middlebury College Summer Language School for 9 weeks in 2003. We were allowed to use the internet, but only in the language we were there to study. Since I didn't have my own computer, I didn't even bother making the 20 minute trek just to read in German how Lance Armstrong was doing.

It was actually therapeutic being without internet for that long, but that was mostly because there was no shortage of other things to do.

A couple of weeks at a time here and there. As far as I can remember it's always been because of moving and always during football season. That wasn't any fun.

About a week. I go to a convention every year where it's pretty much work all day and drink all night. I don't pay to get internet on my phone, and I wasn't going to pay the $10 a day to get internet in my room. And I was busy anyways. At times I felt like I was missing out on everything, but then when I got home and hopped on the internet I found out that I really didn't miss anything at all. The internet is really nice to have, but it isn't needed as much as we think it is.

Probably 2-3 days max when I go on vacation. Some of my family members are not netizens so I do without while I'm visiting. Visiting my sister is the toughest because they have no television. However, sometimes I'm only online to check e-mail and aren't really checking forums or my usual websites.

1 week a year. My wife and I always take an internet free vacation by finding some place that doesn't have any access at all.

I'm always surprised when my business is still running when I get back:)

But even in that 2 weeks I could jump on at work so probably only 4-5 days without at least checking email in last 10 yrs.
