On Clady's Status: Sounds like you guys (NFL Network reporting 3-4 month injury) are on top of the story. Unfortnate situation with Ryan but hopeful everything will be okay for the season.
What was the pre-draft meeting with Tebow like: Xanders and I spend about 7 hours with Tim, spent a lot of it in the classroom teaching him our system. Tim showed a great football mind and apititude to pick up our system quickly. We then transfered that to film and had Tim talk us through what he would do if he were one of our QBs. We then went to the field and finished it with an hour workout, throwing and moving around but also trying in the things learned in the classroom which Tim did very well with.
On confidence in Tim's football accumen: Tim is going to be a rookie and like all 1st year guys the most difficult thing is learning what we want them to do and doing it against great competition. He is coming into a crowded room with competitive guys, we expect him to increase the competition at that spot tremendously. Look forward to that playing out.
Handling the reps with 4 QBs: This can be an issue, we'll try to split it up and give guys reps each day. May rest a guy here and there, giving 3 guys reps each practice and resting a guy on rotation as we move along. Never a bad situation to give QBs some rest on his shoulder. Had 4 QBs in New England once and that's the way we handled it.
On Thomas fitting in the offense: Firmly believe when evaluating players your not evaluating the O or D Coordinators at their school but how the players abilities fit into our scheme. Thomas is a very verticial threat with great speed who can track the ball down the field, also a big man that can run after the catch. Extremely smart kid who can adapt and learn the system quickly.
Based on success with Brady, Cassell and Orton; confidence level on developing QBs: It's a two way street with coach and QB, doesn't take any credit for Brady's success - that's Brady being Brady. Cassell worked very hard to put himself in position to have success, as did Orton. We're going to try to teach Tebow the best we can, not every QB has to be the same. The 4 QBs in the room right now are not the same, and when one is playing we may do things different than if we were playing the other three.
On drafting Beadles in light of the Clady injury: Situation with Ryan is not ideal, but wil benefit other players in getting reps in the spring and training camp is that's the situation. Zane is versatile and can play many positions, we expect him to compete at positions inside and outside. The hope is for the five best OL to playing. A lot of opportunities for young players.
Guess on Clady's return: (Laughing) The injury report will be out in September.
