On Sirius now. Made no bones about the fact that his meetings with the Broncos went great and that he wants to go to Denver.

I really like this kid. I hope the Broncos can get him.

I love what I've seen from Benn on tape. Has all the attributes of a top shelf WR. If he's there in the 2nd he'd be hard to pass on.

Most things I've seen about him remind me of a guy like Braylon Edwards--can make some amazingly athletic plays but has only decent speed and drops what should be easy catches.

Do you think he'll last past round 2? Seems unlikely to me.

He's my second fav WR in this draft. If Denver goes LB or OG with the first rounder, I'd hope for Benn in round 2.

Did they specifically ask about Denver or did he bring it up? Any other comments from him on Denver? Thanks!

Benn is a guy that I have wanted even before we traded Marsh

He brought it up. Only meeting he mentioned. Said they need a big time wideout and he felt he could fill that role.

He has been the one i have been mocking to us. We brought him in 2x for a visit and is why we will not be taking dez. We want to trade back to get graham or pounce and get another pick to trade up for tebwo and still take benn with our other 2nd.

Like clockwork I tell ya.

I think Benn goes higher than #43 or #45, so I think Denver will have to trade up if they want him. Probably would help if we traded down from #11 and then back up to select him sometime. I just don't think he is going to be there where we are sitting. Depends on when the second receiver after Dez is taken. There will be a run sometime, there always is -- and I wouldn't doubt that Benn is a top three receiver on a lot of boards, top five at the worst overall in a general census.

Ah...self promotion due to perceived need by us.

I could see him in the second for sure....

Bet he says, whoever drafts him, that he wanted to go there all along, and is very happy that he got his wish.

I think he'll be there at 43. Most draft experts have him ranked behind Tate and Decker, not sure why, but I do think he'd be there at 43.

Well, he would add to the "players with colonial American names" count on the squad. Now that Ben Hamilton is gone we need a replacement.

Pass- I have watched Benn play at U of I for 3 years and just isn't a true game changer. Nice kid, big, physical, but I don't like him at 43 or 45- in the 3rd round- yes that would be excellent value....

Even assuming that Bryant and Thomas go in the first round, Tate, Benn, Decker, Gilyard & Williams are all pretty good prospects and at least a couple of them should be around for consideration when Denver comes up in the second.

I wouldn't be shocked to see McD take a stab at Decker due to some of the comparisons to Wes Welker. (And this year's highest Wonderlick score probably doesn't hurt either.)

Rabb

The only similarity to Welker is that he's white. The guy is 6'3" and 217 lbs.

My ideal first-three for us is McClain, then Benn with 43, then best C/G available with 45.

Is he a deep threat who can stretch the field? These are the only early-draft WR prospects we should be considering

This is from cbssports, he's definitely an interesting prospect. I don't believe he participated in the combine due to injury at the time:

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/584290

Release: Very good quickness off the line even with his height and strong build. Gets to top speed fast but doesn't have a breakaway gear. Beats the jam using his hands and a sidestep. Recognizes holes in the defense, and looks for the ball immediately.

Hands: Excellent hands, extending them outside his body. Looks the ball in and doesn't let go under pressure. Good concentration in traffic; has the size and vertical to win jump balls. Brings in poorly thrown passes anywhere in his vicinity. Tracks the ball over both shoulders.

Route running: Lines up in the slot and on the sideline; runs all of the routes on the tree. Creates separation with his hands and speed down the sideline, providing nice target. Aware of the first down marker. Understands the offense very well. Works to get free if quarterback is in trouble. Inconsistent planting and driving on out routes.

After the catch: Has enough elusiveness and agility to be used on slip screens at 6-3, 215 pounds. Can stop quickly to let oncoming defenders fly by. Tightropes the sideline on deep patterns. Runs through arm tackles, but doesn't give out hits to smaller defensive backs to get additional yardage.

Blocking: Improved his blocking during his senior year, using his size to negate smaller cornerbacks on the edge. Instead of trying to cut his man or allowing corners to disengage early, as he did in previous seasons, Decker sought out contact and looked willing to sustain so running backs have room to roam when bouncing outside.

Intangibles: Natural athlete with good work habits. Played through high ankle sprain as much as possible last fall, and worked hard to return from knee surgery for bowl game following his junior season. Respected in the locker room.

NFL Comparison: Jordy Nelson, Packers

We'll see. Receivers seem to go a lot later than they're typically mocked. Best recent example of this that I can remember is the 2008 draft when Devin Thomas disappeared from the 11-20 range where he had been mocked and then was drafted in the 2nd, after Donnie Avery.

I'm not sure where Benn will go, but I'm very interested to see where the WRs in general end up being scattered from the end of the 1st through the 2nd and 3rd. Lots of good WRs available.

There is truth there w/Juice Williams who cant connect on a simple flare pass:rofl:

I have witnessed Benn being helped off the field WAY more often than him scoring a TD. I truly like the kid, talked w/him on a couple of occassions, I just don't think he will be the real deal- and he is not a good kick returner at all....

Well, he fits the criterion when comparing to another receiver since he is white; Compare him to another white guy.

I like Williams from USC and Thomas better. But, I wouldn't complain if we took Benn.

I think Williams is the best route runner and would play the Moss position the best of the 3. Both Thomas and Benn are Marshall types.

OK, then I know this is fake because everyone in the world knows Gabar Jaffney is a big time wideout, he played for New England! Hilarious!
