By Gray Caldwell
DenverBroncos.com

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- The Broncos' 2010 schedule was released on Tuesday, and it features six games against five playoff teams, an appearance on Monday Night Football and a trip overseas.

For the fourth consecutive season, the team's first AFC West contest of the season comes against the Oakland Raiders, and the divisional play starts late this year -- the game doesn't come until Week 7.

Here are a few more facts about this year's campaign:

•For the 19th consecutive year, the Broncos will make at least one appearance on Monday Night Football, the longest active streak in the league. The streak of appearances on the program is the longest active streak in the NFL and is tied for the second-longest streak in league history.
•Denver will open its season on the road for the sixth consecutive season. Despite that fact, the Broncos own the second-best opening-game record in NFL history (32-17-1), and the team has won its last three openers.
•With the Indianapolis Colts on the schedule, it marks the 11th consecutive season the Broncos have played at least one of the previous season's two Super Bowl teams.
•Denver's game against the 49ers marks the fourth time the NFL has hosted a regular-season game in the United Kingdom with the previous three contests played before sellout crowds.
•Including the trip to London, the Broncos will travel more than 23,000 miles during the 2010 campaign.
•Weeks 13-15 mark the 14th time in franchise history the team will play three consecutive road games. The most recent stretch came in the 1997 season.
•After their bye, the Broncos play five AFC West contests in the final eight weeks of the season.
•Denver's opponents this season sport a combined 2009 record of 124-132-0 -- the 24th toughest schedule in the league.

If the US Open tennis tourney is a problem for the broncos opening at home at 2 pm each year, why not just play an 11 am game in denver for one week only? Heck the afc championship game in 1977 started at noon denver time.

Opening at home is one of the most exciting games of any bronco schedule, and once again we don't get to see that.

San Diego at KC for one of the opening Monday night games??? That's not too exciting - too bad the broncos couldn't get that slot at home.

As long as CBS has the rights to both the AFC and the US Open Tennis Tournament, the Broncos will open on the road. The exception is if/when we either play on Prime Time, or play an NFC opponent at home.

We have an extra week of prep coming off our bye for Chiefs (week 10) and have to play the Chargers coming off their bye. Also, we play the Rams on a short week (We play on Mon. the week before) and gain a day of prep vs. the Jets (they play on Mon.)

**** yeah!

Heh. That's one way to look at it.

MNF week one is always an AFC West divisional game and I think the NFL has seen enough of the Raiders getting whipped on opening week. Time to bend the Chiefs over this year. ;D

BTW, 9:15PM (KC time) start for that game? Bizarre. Seems like it would have made more sense for the game to be in San Diego.

2010 REGULAR SEASON SCHEDULE
WEEK DAY DATE OPPONENT SITE TIME TV
1 Sun. Sept. 12 at Jacksonville L (0-1) Will be a close, tough game but be too much for us in the heat
2 Sun. Sept. 19 SEATTLE W (1-1) Home opener, against a below average team, should be able to pull off the win
3 Sun. Sept. 26 INDIANAPOLIS L (1-2) I don't see any way we can win this game. Seriously.
4 Sun. Oct. 3 at Tennessee L (1-3) They are a decent team with an explosive run game, I don't think we'll stop them
5 Sun. Oct. 10 at Baltimore L (1-4) A very tough defense, with a decent offense. I think the home factor helps the Ravens win
6 Sun. Oct. 17 NEW YORK JETS W (2-4) Enough with this Jets love fest. I think the team will be pissed off and pull off an "upset" win here
7 Sun. Oct. 24 OAKLAND W (3-4) If we lose this game, ugh
8 Sun. Oct. 31 at San Francisco W (4-4) I think we can handle the 49ers. They are starting their climb back up, but still have holes
9 BYE
10 Sun. Nov. 14 KANSAS CITY W (5-4) Just like that, a 4 game win streak to go back up above .500.

16 Sun. Dec. 26 HOUSTON L (8-7) The Texans are a good team, I think they are too much for us
17 Sun. Jan. 2 SAN DIEGO W (9-7) We get some pride and beat the Chargers, possibly for a playoff spot

But we have had Indy, NE, and Pitt pretty routinely in the regular season.

The real reason is we just choke in the playoffs. Losing to the Jets twice in one decade at home in opening playoff games. My god. It really is a bit pathetic.

New season, new hope.

Looks like an relatively easy start for the Bolts. If we have our traditional slow start with this schedule we will be in trouble I think. Weeks 7-12 are pretty tough. Overall, 29th easiest schedule with a good bye week placement though.

:Broncos:

Much of it is likely a result of the NFL trying to make late-season games more meaningful and, thus, teams are less inclined to throw games because they have a playoff spot wrapped up. As we all know, there's more at stake in a divisional game.

Miami's Schedule\Analysis

They need to lose early and often. A 1 and 7 start would be awesome.

http://espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/category/_/name/afc-schedule-analysis-2010

Breakdown: As much as we like to speculate how the division standings are going to shake out after we see a few games in September, it would be wise not to write off the Miami Dolphins if they stumble out of the blocks in 2010.

Their schedule would seem to be quite forgiving in November and December and should allow them to make up ground in the standings -- or pull away if they're able to get off to a quick start.

In Weeks 12 through 16, the Dolphins will play the Oakland Raiders, Cleveland Browns, New York Jets, Buffalo Bills and Detroit Lions, teams with a combined 27-53 record last year. The Jets are the lone team in that group with a winning record last year, and the Dolphins defeated them twice.

That said, the Dolphins face a grueling start. Of their seven opponents in Weeks 2 through 9, six of them went to the playoffs last year. The only one that didn't won the Super Bowl two seasons ago.

The Dolphins also will be without nose tackle Jason Ferguson through that stretch. He will serve an eight-game suspension for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

Complaint department: By virtue of their geographical separation from the rest of the division, the Dolphins will log the most roundtrip miles. Their odometers will roll up 21,200 miles -- more than twice the Buffalo Bills (9,310 miles, including their "home game" in Toronto) and New York Jets (9,996 miles).

4 on the floor: Dolphins owner Stephen Ross expressed his desire to play more 4 p.m. games at Sun Life Stadium to make the oppressive South Florida weather more tolerable for fans. The Dolphins were granted zero 4 p.m. kickoffs at home this year.

But the Dolphins will host back-to-back games under the lights against the New York Jets on Sunday night in Week 3 (Jason Taylor's first game there in a different uniform) and the New England Patriots on Monday night in Week 4.

Flowers might be our #2 DB
Gaffney and Royal are both better than Chambers
Even Tatum Bell had a few good games Charles won't last
Hali isn't athletic enough to play Ayers' position
ROFL! at Cassel. I pity you, you have 5 more years with that bum
Dorsey ='s BUST who is playing out of position
Prater was the best kicker in the NFL last year when you factor in how good he is at kickoffs.

Homer alert.

You have to make the playoffs to choke in them. Hasn't been a big concern for you sod busters lately.

SD Chargers of 2000's=KC Chiefs of the 90's. Dominate the regular season and get to the playoffs but can't even get to the big one.

Chambers had a more productive season last year than Royal but I wouldn't call him better. Plus he's on the downside of his career. Royal is just getting started.

Outside of Charles, and on occasion Bowe, KC doesn't have any playmakers.

Thomas Jones is a big playmaker and Chambers was a big impact player last year.
