In light of our other tender signings is this good or bad?

It doesn't mean he's going to be traded, I don't think.

He's one of the unlucky guys that entered restricted free agency at the worst time humanly possible. He's going to have to suck it up and play for well under market value for a few years because of it.

Well the offer sheet period ended yesterday so there was no reason not to sign if he intended to sign anyway.

Their trading him to the Rams for a 7th round pick in the 2011 draft!

That's what I would think....except that he doesn't NEED to sign it. He could have waited and tried to get a bit more OR a couple of years. The CBA might screw that up, but why sign NOW?

We have no center to snap the ball; what the hell do we need a quarterback for?

Orton was never going to get more than a 1 yr deal.

I love how people grasp onto this like it's the truth, like he is making MILLIONS more than Leach. ROFL! LOL ROFL!

Probably true....it still doesn't mean that he had to sign the tender offer. Unless the FO is telling his agent that that is the most they will pay, so lump it. Not conducive to a happy camper.

I don't think they are going to trade him....just surprised that he would just take their first offer (essentially) without trying for a higher payout.

Orton's smart enough to know that's all he's getting this year. For now anyway.

Makes getting injured during the OTA's much more palatable.

And if Quinn takes too many snaps they will end up paying him quite a bit more than Orton. Not sure in the positive aspect of that, for essentially the same skills (maybe).

Its too bad to be Orton, with the CBA and the Cutler trade being none of his doing. Well, at least he makes around 3 x what he got last year.

He signed it because he's been at voluntary workouts since day one and now he's protected in case of injury.

Yep.

He knows he'll be fighting for his job this year. I expect him to stay the starter, but McD is telling him he has to earn anything past 2010.

Bingo! And, he knows that if he wants a long-term deal in Denver, he will have to prove he is the QB of the future this season. The tender is all he is getting from Denver right now.

Why on earth would McD trade a model player who hasn't said one word out of turn since we traded for him last offseason???

Not going to happen unless someone gets real stupid and offers a ridiculous trade.

Popps
04-16-2010, 04:26 PM
It means he knows a good thing when he sees it.

He'll have another year to improve in our system, increase his market value and continue making a nice living, either with us or another team in the future.

Let's go Kyle! If you keep the starting position it will be the first time in 6 seasons you are the highest paid QB on the roster. If Quinn wins, see ya!

Broncos should offer Quinn, the 11th pick, one of the 2nd rounders this yr, one of our 2nd rounders next yr, to the Rams. Take Bradford and start over.

I usually agree with your football (political takes not so much ;D) but this one flat out sucks. :sunshine:

But that would only work if rams liked quinn some which they don't. Maybe Orton. Still though the difference between numer 1 and number 11 is about 1800 points. Orton would have to valued a high 2nd low first to make the numbers work because the one 2nd round pick a yr late and not worth as much as this yrs.

Well its only smart if bradford really good. I don't really watch enough college to know but I hear he is. The numbers though on a value chart add up.

I have to say, I love the Kingneckbeard phenomenon too. I have a hunch on who it actually is, but I'm probably wrong. I would be suprised if it wasn't an Omaner.

It's safe to say until we have a better QB we probably won't win a Superbowl.

Manning, Brees, Elways win more of them then ones like Dilfer etc etc. You can do it but it ain't easy.

I doubt McD would take anything less than a 2nd rounder, right?
