Jay Glazer of FOX reports that Ginn has been traded to the 49ers for a 2010 late-round draft pick. It's a fairly dramatic plunge for a guy who was the ninth overall pick in the 2007 draft.

One of the worst draft picks in recent memory.

Injured return guy at 9!

good cheap move for SF. Gives them more flexibility in the 1st round b/c they've already acquired a premier return threat, for just a 5th. Nice acquisition.

Hilarious. Anyone else remember during the combine when it was leaked that Ginn was an idiot how he showed up wearing non-prescription glasses? I laughed when it worked.

I wish we would have gotten Ginn as a toss-in. Would have been a cheap Ashley Lelie, and solved our KR game for the next few years (also allowing Eddie to get focus on being our top WR).

SF is gonna be a contender this year

People have said that about them the past 3 years.

Could be worse, they could have had Brady Quinn instead, he would have cost more and delivered even less.

Man, I thought for sure by now this thread would be lambasting McD for missing out on this.

Clearly we aren't interested in winning.

Not likely.

Dang it, I wanted him in trade for Scheffler. Ginn's pretty worthless as a WR (run a GO route, Ted, try to hold onto the ball when it comes your way), but he's be an upgrade to our return game.

Not likely.

Pretty likely, really.

Seattle has to do a lot of refreshing with a new staff and most likely will start transitioning into a new QB.

Arizona will be transitioning into a new QB, but should still be the main competition for the division.

And the Rams are the Rams.

So, Ted Ginn = Santonio Holmes?

Ah... Cam cameron....

I could see the writing on the wall about Cameron's future - as well as the other members of the MIA FO - when that pick was made.

Testing my memory, Cameron was hired as BALT's OC immediately after getting the boot in MIA? Am I right?

Or Jarvis Moss.

Or Gaines Adams @ 4. He's freakin dead!

That draft had some doozies.

True. Ginn is a decent player, seems to be a good citizen.

I believe Ginn had only one year left on his contract. Hence, 5th round pick. Obviously, Miami wanted to get any value in return.

Not sure what his salary for this year. But since he was a high pick, I'd assume it's pretty hefty.

Trading for an expensive kick returner for a year?

No thanks.

Bet the fins offered to throw in Ginn for something maybe even a low rounder and the broncos said no. Makes sense unless they already had an offer for Ginn in place at the time.

He is a horrible player.

However he has stayed healthy.

Too bad the raiders couldn't get back in the top of the 2007 draft to pick Ginn after they took Russel. Ginn in the top 10 is such al Al Davis est type of move.

San Fran should have gotten in on the McNabb talks.
