Hopefully to trade. I haven't been a big fan of his and he is so overrated by some around here, it's ridiculous. He's a nonblocking TE who has trouble staying healthy and drops too many balls. Other than that, he's headed to Canton. If they can get even a decent draft pick for him, it's a steal.

He actually started two more games in 2009 then he did in 2008. And much like his previous seasons under Shanahan, would have a single good game, followed up by a month of not doing jack ****.

You claim you are not gay, but you definately have a hardon for Scheffler.

So while under utilized and benched he produced just slightly less than his career numbers. Man, what a stud!

You talk about him like he was a pro bowler or something before. Tony Scheffler is not Jason Witten. Even when Shanahan and Cutler where running the team Scheffler was still the #2 TE behind Graham.

He's a one dimensional player that teases with potential but is never consistent. But don't let that stop you from trying to use him as your new soap box about how McDaniels is ruining the team. You sound like the crazy guy preaching about the coming apocalypse on street corners though.

Given that the Steelers got only a 5th for a guy with 79 catches and 1250 yards last season, we'd be lucky to get a Little Caesar's pizza for Scheffler. Maybe we could use him in a trade up.

My guess is, like Eddie said, that the Broncos have a trade lined up. I'd be surprised if it is higher than a fifth-round selection. I'd be okay with that, but maybe his best value would be a in a trade up with one of our earlier selections (#11, #43, #45 or #80) to get a higher valued target. Get it done, Josh!

Why are you guys harping on Dragster.

Facts are Facts in 2008 he was #1 in YPG, and #3 in 20+ receptions. He's has not been the focal point in this offense but he can definitely stretch the field and does not drop many balls.

Just curious -- if we held on to him for one more year, then he left in FA, what kind of comp pick would we get for him? If it's a 3rd, then we'd do just as well to hold on to him for one more year, wouldn't we?

It would depend on what deal he signed and what FAs Denver brought in. It very rare to get 3rd round comp pick for any player. Most times they are at the end of the 6th or 7th.

He would be worth a 3rd rounder, unless we signed a UFA player to a comparative contract (not really that probable) that would reduce or eliminate the comp pick. So a 3rd rounder.

True. But remember players need to play in a system that will utilize and exploite their unique skills and the HC must believe and want to use said players in their system.

Scheffler and Hillis were not McD type players. Either McD had made up his mind who wants or wanted to replace these guys with or Scheff and Hillis just didn't fit McD's scheme.

Cooley is in Washington and, unfortunately, during the short time Scheffler has been in the league, a lot of slot--in space-- TEs have been available in the draft.

I think the Ravens is a good spot. I actually think Miami is another spot but Im sure tha paisano has a soft spot for his Pasano. I think Arizona is actually good spot depending on what other signings there are tha I dont know about. Saints are another team. Siberia it is and hopefully Denver manages to get some kind of compensation for the malcontent. Who knows it could turn out to be another late round talented WR without issues.

What!?!

your stats above are wrong.

He was the #6 TE in YPG, #46th receiver overall.

For him? Any place that still plays on artificial turf. He'll break himself the first home game and be hurt on and off the rest of the season.Wow!
I can only imagine what the reaction would have been had I said the same thing about Moreno.
You're ok though. You're fully protected by the Mcdaniels soldiers...

Where is the worst possible place Denver can negotiate a trade for Scheffler?

Same place it is every year; Detroit.

In fact I'm pretty sure it should be national policy to firebomb Detroit into oblivion and never mention the city's name again. They've got the Red Wings, $20 houses, and octopus tossing.

and you are looking at the stats. The guys listed in front of him have 1 catch a piece

What are you talking about?

1 Tony Gonzalez KC TE 96 rec 66.1 yds/g
2 Jason Witten DAL TE 81 rec 59.5 yds/g
3 Dallas Clark IND TE 77 rec 56.5 yds/g
4 Owen Daniels HOU TE 70 rec 53.9 yds/g
5 Chris Cooley WAS TE 83 rec 53.1 yds/g
6 Tony Scheffler DEN TE 40 rec 49.6 yds/g

Schef is the only one under 70 receptions on that list. So unless you can tell me how 49.6 yds/g is somehow better than 53.1, 53.9, 56.5, 59.5 and 66.1.....then Schef is 6th.

He is a better receiving tight end based on the fact he was not used as much in this offense.

IMO he is a good player, but another guy McD can not work with...

Cleveland just picked up Ben Watson in FA. Doubt they will look at Scheff. Maybe the Bengals though as when is the last time that Palmer actually had a TE to throw to?
