Good god, If Michigan comes out with a blue field or Ohio State with a red field I'll be sick.

Or Texas with a burnt orange field. That'd be hideous.

Boise State has had great success? Every time I try and watch a BSU game on their home field (on TV) I just don't get it. Especially if they are wearing their home blue unis. The BSU players are hard to follow with that crappy blue turf.

It's a nice novelty for BSU, but I don't recommend other teams to follow in their footsteps...

Maybe it's like in Halo where you get an advantage by being camo'd and blending in with the environment. Maybe they'll get more INTs if their safeties blend in and opposing QBs don't see them before the throw is made

Eastern Washington, a FCS/Division 1-AA school, is going to play on a red field next fall. Titans All-Pro OT Michael Roos actually donated money towards the cause.

Boise State's field is horrendous... why would anyone wish to copy that?

Because it's April 3rd and we are talking about it.

That said, if my Wolverines ever tried changing the field to maize, the fans would hang Rich Rodriguez from the goal post.

Michigan is a school so entrenched in tradition, that having a night game (starting in 2011 against ND) is a huge topic of discussion and concern to some fans.

I'm all for a night game every year at the Big House.

If Rodriguez does not win 8 games next year, he will get the boot....and I don't see them winning 8 games.

Michigan has a new AD this year and he is an ex-Michigan football player from the Bo Era, so I would think he is going to be going after a Michigan man to replace Rodriguez.

I would absolutely love to see Jim Harbaugh come back to Michigan, but I know that is a strained relationship.

I could also see them making another run at Les Miles.

What kind of idiot takes a program that can get just about as many pro prospects as they want and implements a gimmick scheme? You do that at 2nd tier teams to compete with what you have. None of the most talented want to go where the pro transition would be rough and unlikely.

Les Miles is who I wanted last time around. You don't even really need a good coach, you could operate it like they do Texas. Get 11 really talented guys on each side of the ball and let them just beat teams. Unfortunately, by hiring RR they will have to go through the player dump period that they went through when RR showed up in the first place. Anyone semi talented that is there won't necessarily fit in the next scheme so you start all over again.

QFT. Any coach who is offered the Michigan job has it great. All he really, really has to do is recruit well and that is not difficult for their program. Mine the hell out of the upper Mid West and especially in Ohio for players, and then run a pro style offense.

If I was the HC I'd sell the program as a spring board to the NFL, esp. for QBs. I'd then get back to that fantastic offensive line domination MI had for years and years.

Then, you take the best athletes and put them on defense. The guys who are big and fast and like to hit. You build your defense around raw talent. It's about attitude.

You can't blame Rich Rodriguez for that....the spread option offense is his baby and it's what he believes in and what he helped pioneer.

You can blame Michigan for hiring him in the first place, as they knew he would be coming in and installing that offense.

It takes a while to install the spread and it takes different players than what Michigan had when RR took over give him time and he will win there

I'm willing to give him another year....but he's going to have to start winning some games.

It's one thing to go .500....it's another to 3-13 against Big Ten teams when you are the Michigan Wolverines.

It really does not matter what I think....but the reality is that he will be gone without a good year next year.

They are spending $226 million dollars to renovate Michigan Stadium....the are going to need a ROI. Another sub .500 season and the fans and companies are not going to want to shell out the big bucks in this economy to pay for those new luxury suites.

College football is a business as well as a sport.

No. Michigan, stay the hell out of Ohio. :) Seriously though, the majority of quality football players that have played at Michigan seem to have been Ohio born. Let alone their coaches. That being said, I'd love it if Michigan improved, I would like to see the Big 10 continue to improve their performance in bowl games.

Ohio State looks like the only top notch team though, not sure how Penn State and Iowa will be with their losses on D and at QB. Michigan needs to win the games that they should win(MSU, Indiana, Illinois, Purdue etc.) and they can grab 8 wins.

Not confident at all.

I'm not wasting my money going to the game.

I've seen Ohio State beat Michigan 3 times in The Shoe already and am not going again unless I think they have a decent shot of winning.

Either way, the weekend of partying in Columbus is always fun.

I was at that game and I think it was one of the best fooball games I've ever seen. I'm with you SSJ, I think R-Rod will be gone after this year. I don't think he is a bad coach, I just think his style of football won't work in the big 10(he's not really getting the top notch recruits for his system either).
