The shortening of words that are already short. An example: I am has become IMA...its the same ****ing three letters.

As fr the Twilight Kick. The two actors who I dont get why people go crazy over are Rob Pattinsn and Taylor Lautner. I dont get it. Yeah...they are pleasant looking, whatever. Neither one is all that attractive...so I dont get the screaming/fawning hysteria over them.

Tight jeans on guys with low rise hips...am I missing something here? Why are they creating unisex jeans?

Everything I highlighted, you are wrong about. Not that I am a fan or user of it, but I can understand the hype over it. Lady Gaga is my new guilty pleasure (her music, not the look). I dont do Fantasy Baseball anymore based on the time, but it does make people feel important and smart. BB is just plain awesome and it is a sport you can go live with couples and you dont care how much the wives talk about anything as there is plenty of pauses in the game. I, for one, can watch Glenn Beck. Dude is like a teacher. He draws, puts visuals on a chalk board and he even cries. A fun way of getting a point across. You cant call him boring. As for anything Jersey, I will pass on it. I remember Dance Party USA and I believe it was shot in Jersey. Aqua Net went up to $2 a can because all the IROQ chicks were puffing up their hair more for better TV visual once they got on the show.

Wearing baggy clothes without a belt. This fad was started by Marky mark in 91! People, no fad should be around consecutively for almost 20 years. You look like a complete moron showing overpriced underwear. Also, if you are a dude and buying girls jeans for that "I want to show off my skinny legs" look, I have absolutely no doubt that those "guys" would suck off a guy if drunk (some would do it sober). If you are combining both skinny girl jeans while showing off your $12 Calvin Klien underwear, I dont get it and you are a big queff. Yes, I said queff.

I understand that they have appeal, I'm just saying I don't get the appeal.

And calling Glenn Beck a teacher, no offense, but that is as horrifying to me as someone calling Keith Olbermann or Rush Limbaugh a "teacher". They are propaganda slingers, Beck just has a little bit more of the "hey look at that crazy homeless dude" factor going for him.

iPods. Apple stuff in general I suppose, but I've never felt so limited using an mp3 player before I was given a iPod. I haven't played with the iPhone, but the guys who work in my mobile department tell me the Droid and most Windows Mobile Phones can do the same stuff.

Per the iPod, I understand they've got the marketshare of the mp3 market so everything is catered to it - but iTunes is so frusturating and limiting to me. I'm sad to see the Zune is taking the same path (proprietary software) as I really like their unit and wish it was drag-and-drop. The fact people go nuts over electronics that limit them (because they're "user friendly") is amazing to me - although in many ways that's been Apple's business model.

broncosteven

It goes back farther than that. Zapp from the 70's used it a lot.

But yeah, the Autotune was okay when everyone didn't want to sound like T-Pain.

Auto Tune pitch fixing has only been around for about the last 5-7 years. It didn't start showing up in my DAW until about 2-3 years ago and it was very painful and used a lot of RAM to process.

Back in Zappa's day they used Vocoders like these Roland boxes. They still sell for big money on Ebay: http://www.vintagesynth.com/roland/vocoder.php

Other company's made vocoders but Rolands was the one everyone used.

In the very early 90's harmony boxes became popular, but if you sang out of tune the device didn't care, it was just interested in outputting a harmony in any interval you wanted.

Auto tune started with RAP acts that couldn't sing in pitch, like any good engineers they messed with it in the studio and got a sound which was a cool one off like the Heil Talk box Peter Frampton used on his live album, Joe Walsh and Bon Jovi are the other notables to use it in hits. It should have left us by now, I am hoping the DJ/Studio engineer community move on to more analog modular setups like the Moog Moogerfooger pedals instead.

My pet peeve is that the music industry is in such a hurrry to land the next big thing that artists have no time to become artists. Look at Taylor Swift at the Grammys, why she couldn't nail a duet well in her range is beyond me. I don't have any range but I can sing in tune.

I think the music industry is going to crash and burn because they don't care about making good records, just moving widgets.

Did you mean me or Bendog?

I have a nice synth setup, couple Roland D550's, Kurzweil pc3, an old wavestation A/D, ESQ-1, Roland R8.

I don't use VST synths but caught an article on some free synths for Windows PC's in the current Keyboard Mag, they don't seem to have it online yet.

I actually was more productive back in the late 80's with my ESQ-1 and a cheap drum machine than I am now. I have all the gear I wanted back in the day but a serious case of writers block.

Maybe, but I felt like I was misled. If I knew from the beginning it'd be a crazy conspiracy show, I'd be down for that.

I dont know that id call it a conspiracy show, but i actually just rewatched the pilot and, although it would have been impossible to predict it would have gotten as complicated as it has, even the first ep showed you something weird was up.

I don't get people who live for Disney World and go annually or more often, particularly people who go without kids. I like the place, great place to take the kids, but every year? Of all the great places to go on vacation you go to a landlocked, man made, dressed up amusement park all the time? And it's not like it's inexpensive.

I've never been, neither has my wife. We don't have kids and we were talking about checking it out. You think its a bad idea?

I don't get people who don't like beer, racists, and people who don't understand why they believe in something, but aren't willing to listen to others opinions.

And NASCAR.

And why more Americans don't follow the NHL.

I adore lost and find it to be indepth and incredibly smart. M Night Shymalan wishes he could come up with the **** they have.

That is interesting, I had the complete opposite reaction. The first season was very smart and indepth, every season afterward felt like a Sci-fi version of Prison Break. The plot lines go all over the place but the characters are as predictable as any show I have ever watched. I have invested so darn much I can't stop watching but I can barely make it through every episode now.

re: iPod...quite possibly the best gift my wife has ever given me (besides my children). Anyway, I have the 30G iPod Classic and take it everywhere I go. I categorized all of my music into genres and listen to whatever music I'm in the mood for...no more commercials on radio! I also listen to Podcasts on different topics, which satisfies my talk radio appetite. I have pictures of my kids on there, videos, TV shows, movies, etc. The iPod is a MUST HAVE when I travel. It makes the time go by so much faster.

Sorry montrose, we agree on most things related to Bronco football, but this is something (non-football ) I have to disagree with you on.

All the things you listed are awesome. My point was that you can do that on most any mp3 player or phone and I don't get why everyone has to have the iPod over the other ones considering it limits you to having to use iTunes. If I could drag-and-drop to the iPod - I'd love it. For now, I use my HTC Ozone. I completely understand why people love what the iPod does (music, pics, videos, etc.) - I just don't get why people seem to like the fact it forces them to use iTunes (I guess that would mean my beef is more with iTunes than the iPod, meh).

iPods. Apple stuff in general I suppose, but I've never felt so limited using an mp3 player before I was given a iPod. I haven't played with the iPhone, but the guys who work in my mobile department tell me the Droid and most Windows Mobile Phones can do the same stuff.

Per the iPod, I understand they've got the marketshare of the mp3 market so everything is catered to it - but iTunes is so frustrating and limiting to me. I'm sad to see the Zune is taking the same path (proprietary software) as I really like their unit and wish it was drag-and-drop. The fact people go nuts over electronics that limit them (because they're "user friendly") is amazing to me - although in many ways that's been Apple's business model.

+500 points to you. I can't stand all these closed systems that are popping up. This is why google needs to win.
