Adam_Schefter Filed to ESPN: it's official. LaDainian Tomlinson is a Jet. He reached agreement on a two-year contract. Done.

A fine place to fade into the distance and retire.

LT and his 3 yards a carry average will do wonders replacing Thomas Jones.

The Jets have one of the best offensive lines in the league. I think LT may surprise and have a nice bounce back year.

While Thomas Jones fades into the sunset in KC.

Edit: Also makes a great deal of sense because he's very familiar with B Schottenheimer's offense there.

But the real drama will be reuniting with Cromarite. He is the guy who drew most of LT's anger following the playoff loss to the Jets.

I guess LT would rather play with the young Sanchez, rather than waiting to see the old gunslinger drag out the offseason, mini camps and summer camp to finally return with a parade to play QB for teh Vikes and rocket the ball to the wrong team in the playoffs.

ALways respected LT's game. This move to me is reminiscent of Steve Atwater going to the Jets for 1 year...

LaDainian Tomlinson and Jets reached agreement on a two-year, $5.1 million contract with an escalator that could boost deal to $5.6 million.

Someone explain how LT is better than Thomas Jones at this point in their careers?

L.T has had our number. I am glad to see him out of the AFC West. And yes, I think he has some gas left in the tank.

I'll be the first to say LT has definitely "lost that step". For the past two years, he's been a little sad to watch, constantly tripping and falling on his own as if his feet can't keep up with what his body wants to do.

But let's just see how they do with new o-lines this season. The Chiefs o-line stinks and while the Chargers o-line is pretty good at pass blocking, they are terrible at run blocking. The Jets o-line is often dominant. LT's walking into a much better situation than Thomas Jones is.

In the DEN @ SD game in 2009, I was impressed by TheDanian's speed and quickness is the first 1/2. Actually, the entire Charger team looked insanely pumped for that first half, but I thought Tomlinson showed what he might be able to bring to the game in a limited capacity. If the Jets can get that kind of performance from him for about 5 touches a game, I think it's a good pickup for them. Also allows them to hedge against any setbacks that potentially occur to Washington.

I wouldnt expect much from him. He'd be bucking some serious trends if he suddenly bounced back.

Yea, there has never been a RB to decline after the age of 30 then have a resurgence. It just doesn't happen, and it's not going to happen to LT. He might get 1000 yards if he gets a ton of carries, but probably on < 3.5 YPC.

good move for LT...he knows the offense, better OL, better QB, Better Defense, and may get more carries backing up Green vs. Peterson.

Dude can catch it out of the backfield, whereas Green and/or Jones were marginal at this. Still, this guy's pride will have him moping around by week 6. Either that or he'll have a knee/lower body injury that will put him on the shelf.
