In addition to the Browns and Saints, free agent Jake Delhomme is also expected to visit the Packers and Broncos. The Packers could use a veteran to battle Matt Flynn for the No. 2, and Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy coached Delhomme in Carolina as QBs coach and passing game coordinator.Source: Mary Kay Cabot on Twitter Related: Browns, Broncos, Packers, Saints

Say NO to DelHO.

Did you see Chris Simms last year? Delhomme was Unitas compared to Simms. As long as he's brought in strickly as a backup, I'm fine with it. That said, his gunslinger mentality doesn't seem to fit what McDaniels would go for, so I doubt it happens.

I'm not so sure about that. I don't want either.

Really? You're not sure he's better than the abortion that is Chris Simms?

One of the two has led a team to and started in a Super Bowl. Yes, it was several years ago. That's not the point.

Simms has never done anything of substance -- EVER -- in this league. Not ever. He's gun shy, holds the ball too long, and doesn't have any pocket presence whatsoever.

Delhomme was terrible last year. Nobody is denying this. But he's better than Simms.

DH would be a good back-up. A guy with that kind of experience, you would absolutely feel 'ok' about him coming in for injury. What kind of back-up do you guys expect to have, a super star??

I really would prefer Jake over any of the other backup QBs to be had out there right now as long as he is willing to accept that his career is on the decline and his money now is to be made as a backup and mentor. He knows how our OC works and could act as a good teacher for Orton and whatever young prospect eventually gets brought in.

It really all depends on what direction the team wants to go. If they are sold on Orton as the stopgap for a year or more with a young guy being groomed behind, then Jake is a good choice. If we are brining in a 2nd QB strictly as competition for Orton, then Anderson or Quinn might be a better choice.

dude, look at Peyton Manning and Tom Brady 2 of the best in the league. Both of them have lead feet and are of absolutely no threat to take off on a run and make something happen with their legs.

why is it such a big deal if we don't have a QB with Elway like mobility that can break the pocket and pick up 15 with his legs? the majority of the QBs in the league are pocket guys and are not going to be extremely mobile.

all that is necessary is for the QB to be able to slide and maneuver in the pocket, which Orton knows how to do. but that was hard to tell when as soon as the ball was snapped he had defenders in his face. it doesn't matter how mobile you are if the instant you snap the ball your line lets 2 guys through.

Broncos fans for the most part are spoiled and will never accept anyone unless they have Elway like ability. Sad thing is, a talent like Elway comes around maybe once every 20 years, and that is a big maybe. think about it, since Elway retired has any QB come into the league that had his brains, athletic ability, leadership ability, and rocket for an arm?

there have been guys with some of those intangibles, but there has yet to be a QB that has all of them like John did.

Broncos fans need to move past the idea of finding a guy to replace John and be happy and get into the corner of who we have now, because honestly, in the majority of our lifetimes, there is never going to be another guy like John in orange and blue.

Quinn era close to end in Cleveland

By James Walker
ESPN.com

The new regime of the Cleveland Browns never appeared sold on Brady Quinn. So it was no surprise Saturday when the team made its most dramatic move to date to reshape its quarterback position.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Browns signed veteran quarterback Jake Delhomme to a two-year contract, likely signaling the end of the Quinn era in Cleveland.

Delhomme comes to the Browns with a lot of starting experience. Barring any dramatic or unforeseen moves in free agency or the draft, pencil in Delhomme as Cleveland's 2010 starting quarterback.

Browns president Mike Holmgren said he does not believe in quarterback competitions. So there will not be one between Delhomme and Quinn. In the meantime, Holmgren will continue to shop Quinn to see what value he can get for the former first-round pick.

If nothing materializes, Quinn will be Delhomme's backup along with Seneca Wallace. But the safe money right now is that Quinn will not wear orange and brown next season. Quinn already has his house for sale, and it's best that both parties move on at this point.

Quinn was hailed as a Columbus, Ohio product who could finally bring the Browns back to prominence. Instead, he spent most of two seasons backing up former Pro Bowler Derek Anderson and was benched in 2009 after a disappointing start.

There should be some level of interest in Quinn, who has a limited amount of starts and was never surrounded with quality players in Cleveland. We listed five possible suitors earlier this week in the AFC North blog.

But despite all the excitement that came with Quinn coming to Cleveland three years ago, everything likely came to a close Saturday with Cleveland signing a 35-year-old quarterback.

http://espn.go.com/blog/afcnorth/print?id=10610

Who might be interested?

After garnering the opinions of our ESPN.com NFL bloggers, I compiled a list of five possible destinations.

5. Arizona Cardinals

Skinny: The organization doesn't seem willing to hand over the keys to Matt Leinart without making him compete for the job. Could Quinn be that competition?

4. Seattle Seahawks

Skinny: Seattle traded Seneca Wallace to Cleveland, so there is precedent to work out a deal with Holmgren's former team. The Seahawks are visiting with Anderson this week, but if they fail to reach an agreement, Quinn might enter the conversation.

3. Carolina Panthers

Skinny: Jake Delhomme is out and Matt Moore is in. But are the Panthers really 100-percent convinced Moore is a franchise quarterback who can lead them to a Super Bowl?

2. Denver Broncos

Skinny: The Broncos sent out feelers for Quinn last year when the Jay Cutler situation went down. They ended up with Kyle Orton. But now they could have both this year and get Quinn on the cheap.

1. Kansas City Chiefs

Skinny: Former Notre Dame head coach Charlie Weis is the offensive coordinator in Kansas City, and Quinn knows that system like the back of his hand. So Quinn wouldn't be bad insurance for Matt Cassel. Defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel also was Quinn's head coach in Cleveland.
