Why? Maybe McD is too much of a Pats homer. I bet this guy gets cut given out currrent D-line choices.

we re-sign a former lineman on the team and the first thought someone has is because mcd is a pats homer.

I think he pretty easily makes the team.

I actually liked most of McD's Pat's signings(this was sarcasm but easy to see how it was lost) but was thoroughly unimpressed with Smith's play last year. Not a big deal since few 5th rounders amount to much either.

Good. I trust McX have a plan for him and he fits into their strategy.

Smith was injured early in the year and missed a few games, which probably hurt his transition. That 5th round pick also got us Hochstein, who was a reliable starter for us.

ohh didnt know it was sarcasm, i need to update my "hater list" as if i ever had one :D

its not gauranteed he makes the roster, but if he does hell have a small rotational role i assume. not bad for what cost us a 5th rounder last year.

His chance to step up was when Mcbean was injured and I think he did a pretty poor job of it.

I forgot that we netted Hochstein with the same pick. Tips the scales in our favor IMO.

I'm just glad the Pats didn't resign him, which would've been insanely embarrassing.

So were heading into the draft with Jamal, Bannan and Green as our projected starters with McBean, Fields, Thomas, Smith and Baker as our reserves. Assuming we add a guy or two in the draft, it should make for some good competition. The wild card for me is Baker, how much he improves from year one to year two.

You think Baker has a shot at making the team?

I do.

Hope you're right. Just not sure what the basis is since we've not seen too much of what he brings to the table.

perhaps on the basis that we have seen what Marcus Thomas can do, and he sucks

I know they liked him enough to keep him around on the roster all year last year and he showed some real flashes during the preseason. I'd imagine he'll get looks in camp and if he makes a big jump - he might have a chance at the roster.

How many linemen did they keep last season 8? If all those guys make it, then I don't think we will see a lot defense line picks. Maybe 1 or 2 max late.
