Abilene Christian OT Tony Washington reportedly had sex with his 15-year-old biological sister when he was 16, and is a registered sex offender.
It's believed the sexual act, which occurred in May 2003, was consensual. "I made a mistake at the age of 16, and for that, I am deeply sorry," he said in a statement. "I will not try and excuse or justify anything." Washington, who might be a first-round prospect based on size, length, and athleticism alone, was a big recruit at LSU in 2005. He originally received five years' probation and no jail time. Washington is reportedly now on good terms with the

I believe it is statutory rape to have sex with a minor even if you are a minor yourself - and when it is your sister it is doubly bad.

An example is Texas Penal Code, Section 22.011(e). It provides an affirmative defense to a charge of sexual assault if all of the following apply:

the actor was fewer than 3 years older than the victim,
the victim was older than 14 years of age at the time of the offense,
the actor was not at the time registered or required to register for life as a sex offender,
the conduct did not constitute incest, and
neither actor nor victim would commit bigamy by marrying the other (in other words, neither was married to a third person).

That is an example of a law reducing statutory rape of a minor, as you will note incest is noted as an exception so that is why he is registered as an offender.

A kid in the grade below me in high school was rumored to have slept with his sister to see how good he was during sex. His sister was in my grade and she was pretty much the class whore. If there was anyone to let him know what he was doing wrong it have been her.

For the life of me I just don't know how you let things like this get out let alone get a criminal record over it.

I was looking at buying a house late last year and did the sex offender search around the new house and there was a pretty hot lady, I believe between 25 and 30, that was listed for incest. I chuckled about "Heh, can't blame the guy" and then I noticed she was listed at the same address as her brother who was also registered for incest...

They were registered yet still living together... Downright amazed me that they're allowed to do that. In the end though, it's all consensual. There's plenty of kinks out there.

Is it less incest if they hit the wrong hole or just oral?

Now hold on....I wasn't saying it was morally OK to have sex with a sibling, simply that I don't think it is technically against the law in most places (though I could be wrong about that).

I think that in most places, sex with a direct blood relative (such as a sister or biological parent) is illegal mainly due to the increased risk of genetic abnormality in offspring. However, given that this is the key legal issue, if the parties concerned show that they have taken steps to avoid this (such as both getting sterilised) I believe the courts will take a more lenient view - they tend not to be concerned about the moral aspect per se.

Having said that, I think that knowledge comes from a TV drame in the UK from many years ago so it could be way off base, and even if its not it could only be true for the UK. I do believe, however, that most places are pretty uniform in prohibiting sex between direct blood relations, where there is less consistency from place to place is the view on sex between lesser relations such as cousins.

Don't know quite why I felt moved to comment on that but there you go....just for the record I do not have a sister (I know how some of your minds work around here...)

The skeletons in the past of Abilene Christian offensive tackle Tony Washington are still haunting him.
A past transgression of a sexual nature has left him unemployed by NFL teams after going undrafted.
Here's why Washington went undrafted and remains unsigned after being projected as a second-round talent by NFL scouts: As a 16-year-old growing up in New Orleans, Washington was convicted of having consensual sex with his biological sister.
He served two weeks in jail, was given five weeks of probation and had to register in Texas as a sex offender.
"I'm in complete shock (http://www.cnbc.com/id/36856719)," Washington's agent, Vann McElroy, told CNBC.com "I feel so bad for this kid. This is something that happened seven years ago and, probably because of the Roethlisberger situation, he hasn't been called.
"We spent hours of our time, providing letters, testimonials from people to tell this kid's story. It isn't like he's some pervert hanging around in the bushes. He's a good kid who screwed up, who since then was accepted by the board and admitted to one of the most conservative colleges out there."
League sources have repeatedly told National Football Post that Washington is a very good football prospect. Their hesitation to sign him or give him a tryout isn't only because of the anticipated negative media attention he would bring to the franchise, but also because of the fear that he would affect the locker room chemistry or be ostracized by teammates.
"I can only imagine what it would be like for him as far as how he would be treated by the other players," an NFL source told NFP. "A smaller media market would be the best fit for him. He can definitely play, but you're putting a lot on the line to give him a shot."

I don't think it is so much of the media attention, but more of how he would be treated in the locker room. He'd be the butt of every joke. If he has a negative reaction to it then it could cause a problem that teams don't want to deal with. Seems like it would take a team with players who would want to give the kid a chance for him to get signed.

Thing is, if it wasn't for the sex offender registration requirement, this probably would not have been out there for public consumption. I wonder what a lot of the other draft prospects may have done as juveniles that is buried in non-accessible files. By all accounts, this kid has not been involved in any other legal issues and has straightened out his life. Once you get past the "ewwww" factor, it really seems a shame. This was not a violent crime or a habitual pattern. Given the actions of some other NFL players, it seems like the concerns of him being ostracized by teammates is overblown. I hope some team gives him a shot because I think he will appreciate and make the most of it. Seems more like an isolated incident than a reflection of bad character.

You've misinterpretted the story. The article said he had sex with his own sister.

Not your sister.

Jokes on you! I don't have a sister!

But if I did I bet she'd be hot. For other people, I mean...not me. Because, ya know, she'd be my sister and stuff and that would be gross.

I wanted to hose this girl Brenda when I was a teenager, but she was allegedly related to me in some way. Never did sort out how we were related.

How about you let me do it and I'll tell you how it was? That way it won't be illegal and you can imagine what it was like. WIN, WIN.

Can someone please explain this to me. Why didn't she get an jail time, or have to register. Don't it "take two to tango?"

If I had a sister, it would be cool for anyone to bang her as long as they treated her with respect and coitus didn't occur until the third date.

Also, I would probably prefer not to know about it.

Given the actions of some other NFL players, it seems like the concerns of him being ostracized by teammates is overblown.

On an episode of HBO's Arless, one of his clients appeared to be gay and Arless couldn't get him signed, or he was going to get cut, or something like that. So Arless was having major problems with this. Well the player ended up in a hot tub with some under aged chicks. Problem solved and the guy got signed. The owner didn't want to deal with the gay issue, but under aged chicks, no problem.

Yeah, it was fiction, but I don't think it's that far from the truth. A team would give a chance to a guy convicted of something more serious than give this guy a try.

Maybe I'm missing something, but where does it say that she wasn't also punished? It doesn't say that she was punished, but the story isn't about her, so those details aren't really all that important.

Since it didn't say anything about her, I just assumed nothing happened. Besides for some reason it's always the guys fault.

I thought Dallas took the kid.

Too bad, he was 16 when it happened so he was minor. Yah, it was wrong but he's owned up to it.

NFL is pretty hypocritical if they avoid this kid. Dog killer = ok, but a minor who made a mistake and owns up to it, not ok.

Great bench press, and his pro day times were a vast improvement.

Casserly was saying on NFLN that he was moving into the second to third round area and his combine workout was on par with the top tackles. Kinda makes you wonder what happened.

its sad hes not getting a shot, for sure. its ****ed up, no question. should what he did consentually at 16 years old affect him now, as a top OL prospect who cant even get a call?

why was he a sexual offender anyway? its gross yea, but why is he registered if they were both underage?

No wonder he was an LSU top recruit in 2005, would have endeared him to the fan base. But alas the school probably didn't want the negative attention.
