Have you guys seen this new feature on Youtube?

Youtube Music Discovery Project

http://www.youtube.com/disco

Type in an artist and it'll make you a playlist of their videos and show you similar artists, videos, etc

It's pretty smashing.

It's pretty smashing.

What does Crackin' mean in Brittan? I like to watch BBC America and on shows like Gavin and Stacy and less so on Life on Mars they use Crackin like we would say cool or tits.

That is pretty cool, but I did notice that they have taken the opportunity to monetize this by putting ads in between the videos.

I have listened to 6 songs in a row in my "The National" playlist and thee have been no ads. It seems like Pandora with videos to me.

broncosteven, "cracking" and "smashing" mean "tremendous".

Wallace and Gromit - "cracking cheese Gromit" = "Tremendous cheese Gromit!".

Yeah, the ad may have been in the video itself rather than from youtube. I have not gotten any since. Google has made it a priority to monetize YouTube (Large expanding ads on the homepage), so I thought maybe they would use this as an opportunity.

Thanks for the info! To me Tremendous is a lot different than cool.

I watched an old 70's Brit gangster movie last week called the Long good Friday and they had a Brit slang guide before the movie started. BTW the movie was entertaining considering the production value picture wise was lame.

I love the Inbetweeners. Last week's episode where they go caravanning was hysterical. Especially the ending.

Right now my must see DVR'ed TV is Inbetweeners, Life on Mars (they started at the start on PBS recently) and Top Gear.

The 1st time I visited the States before I moved here permanently I went to a party where Trainspotting was on. There were subtitles! they were speaking English! It made me chuckle. We are hard to understand I guess...
