Alright. I can't sleep without a fan going. I dont know if its the air moving or the hum it makes, but recently I had a kickass fan die on me, and it took a couple of days for me to go get a new one. I slept maybe 5 hours in 2 days. Anyone else have something they need before they can get some sleep?

Take a giant hit of chronic.

No ****, lol.

I like to have a fan on... or you can just take a valium or ambien - that **** will knock you out.

Or, if you're the legal type, and don't want a prescription, Sominex helps, too.

Masterbation... works like a charm :)

Okay, I am also a ceiling fan kind of guy. Something about needing the air on my face. Also I have an fish tank in my room that makes a little noise.

Best are: OTC Tylenol PM, Rx Ambien/Zolpidem.

Ambien is especially good ... a quick, reliable deep sleep, and the side effect of waking without any hangover of any kind. In fact, for me it works almost like an alarm clock. Seven hours after I take 10 mg, I'm awake.

The 5 mg though, that cam be a problem because you're awake after 3 1/2, 4 hours.

Tylenol PM

Tylenol PM = 500mg Acetaminophen and 50mg Diphenhydramine
Sominex = 100mg Diphenhydramine

Sominex is a more powerful version of Tylenol PM, without the Acetaminophen, which can cause health problems.

Two to three Mellodyn does the trick and is safe and doesn't leave a hangover

I've tried just about everything from natural stuff, to over the counter to Rx.

I will say that working out does help no matter what you want to try.

I didn't find that any of the natural stuff works if you have bad insomnia, only if you have a mild case of it.

Even Sominex and Tylenol PM don't work that well if you are really having bad insomnia.

About the best over the counter stuff I have tried is Unisom.

But the best Rx stuff without a doubt is Lunesta. Way way way better then Ambien. I have absolutely NO side affects with Lunesta. Puts me right to sleep in about 20 minutes and I sleep until my alarm goes off, of after 6 to 8 hours if I just wake up naturally. No dry mouth, no dizzy feeling or light head. Just ready to go. And that was cutting the smallest dose (3MG) in half. That made my 30 pills into 60. :strong:

Melatonin. If I don't take it, I'll work through the night until I crash in the morning and be useless the next day. But when I take it, I sleep like a baby. Speaking of which...

I have to sleep with a fan on, I'm too light of a sleeper and some noise will wake me if I didn't have it on (aka the neighbor's dog barking every damn morning). If I need a little extra help on the sleep side, I usually take an allergy pill - Allegra I think, I'm onto the generic now. That'll knock you on your ass better than any sleeping pill :)

I use lorazepam too. Working nights I needed something that will put me out for 4 or 5 hours on my first day back to work. It does the trick.

And definitely don't take any type of Tylenol with alcohol. Acetaminophen can cause liver damage when mixed. Not a doctor, just what I was told...

I'm a crappy sleeper so I take the generic Benedryl for diphenhydramine. I also try not to eat much sugar/starches after 7 and no caffiene after 4.

Exercise and not drinking help too...so I've heard...

Ceiling fan with the radio on playing a rain noise. I have also found that the older I get the worst I sleep when I drink. Alcohol doesn't work like it used to.

For the aids, unisom works best for me but The first couple of hours awake I feel a little drunk.

if you are having trouble sleeping take a thyroid test on the net. My skin was itching like crazy ! and I had no sleep for years now I take to forms of iodine and my health is 10 times better in just a few weeks also I have lost 17 pounds since I started the iodine !

note I am really cutting calories and working out also so it is not a cure all but I am so much happier with the results

I can't sleep with any noise around me.
Just for safety reasons I want to be able to hear anything in the middle of the night that could save my life.
That said, I only need 6 hours of sleep. If you get up early everyday, you should not have problem falling asleep at night.
I sometimes have problems falling asleep. I take 1/2 tblet of Tylenol PM and call it good.
Melatonin (sp?) by GNC is also good

Wear a "Breath Right" and the trick is to take an alcohol pad and use it on the bridge of your nose so it sticks real good. You will sleep like a baby and you will see why so many NFL players wear them. I would wear one all day if my wife would let me....

I've always slept pretty lightly...Since the kids came along though, a gnat fart in the middle of the night wakes me up. I was terrified of SIDS for the first year of our twins lives, and when they were 18 months, their brother came along and it started all over again. I don't think I'll ever sleep like I used to.

My mom used to be able to sleep solidly through the night. She says after she had me and my brothers that completely changed. She got so used to getting up every couple of hours that now it still has her in and out of sleep all night. Kind of wierd.

No kidding, once the kids come it's constant tired.

I sleep with a ceiling fan on. I usually have no problem falling asleep. Hurt my back a few weeks ago and the doc gave me some muscle relaxers. I thought how cool to feel relaxed. Damn I was out for 12 hours and when I woke up I was a beast. My kids took the pills and hid them. I felt groggy all day. Don't like them but damn did I sleep.
