Why on earth would he go to Chicago just to potentially take another beating via Mike Martz's system?

I doubt it. The guy is a walking injury most of the time..He peaked in 06 and has been going downhill from there.

Orton has been injured the last two years also.

No thanks. Let's get younger, not older and more fragile.

True, that's why it wouldn't really be an upgrade. Younger with more mobility is the way to go.

This

Replacing Orton with a 32 year old QB is replacing one stop gap with another stop gap.

I hope they take Claussen with that first pick. I don't want the Broncos to have a chance at him.

Bulger turned into Trent Green real fast.

Pass on Bulger....he is a mush headed stiff after all the hits he has taken over the years with the Rams.

I disagree. I think Bulger has a better arm and has better mobility. I'd take Bulger for 3 million over Orton for 3 million any day of the week.

It's sad how the Denver Broncos fans have lowered their standards when it comes to QB's.
They're willing to settle for any stiff that becomes available in the NFL.

Orton, and now Bulger?
Christ!

Bulger? OH HELL NO

bpc
02-16-2010, 10:08 AM
I'd give Bulger a chance. He isn't the solution but he's a guy that has great experience and has played well when his jersey is completely clean.

Bottom line is NOBODY would have survived in St. Louis over the past 5 or 6 seasons. If this guy is costing us the same as Simms potentially, roll the dice.

Rohirrim

He would definitely be better than Simms, but only if he would take the same money.

Draft Bradford, resign Orton for 1 year, let Bradford learn for a bit, and throw him in there when he's ready or Orton rolls an ankle.

please no. I am in St. Louis and have seen the punishment that man has taken. I do not believe you can regroup from 3 years of literally no protection from your offensive line. Feel bad for him actually.

if you are picking players as a backup and it was between him and Simms, it is not even close

buh bye spleeny

Any word on Brandstrator's progress?

We do need a veteran backup if we can find one. Are we keeping Simms? I haven't read anything about cutting him.

Draft Bradford, resign Orton for 1 year, let Bradford learn for a bit, and throw him in there when he's ready or Orton rolls an ankle. We'd have to trade up to 7 just to have an outside chance. The Skins will probably snag him at 5...then if they pass, Seattle and Jax will be waiting on deck. And even then, you have to weigh the decision in regards to the crop of QB coming out next year.

Yeah I don't want to trade up to get him. I'm bankning on him falling and Clausen going earlier.

I don't see how we could go wrong with a Orton/Bulger QB competition. Even if Bulger couldn't beat Orton out and I don't see how he could at this point we get a huge improvement at the back up position.

Bulger would be a great addition to the team. He would give Orton a run for his money as the starting QB and would likely be a great 2nd stringer to help develop Brandstater and/or whoever else we draft. I would give the Rams a 6th rounder and Simms for him if it works well for Denver under the salary cap guidelines. We really have no choice but to go with the Vets at this point because it takes a couple of years for a younger QB to develop and we don't have a realistic shot at getting a QB in the draft this year unless Claussen/Bradford really fall. The other issue is that there will be teams trying to leapfrog up to get one of them just like the Jets did last year with Sanchez.

He eventually will have to. His value's dropped pretty far and at this point of his career, he's probably better off as a backup

Alot of people thought Warner was done too. I'd take Bulger everyday over Orton. Bulger is not a caretaker, he can and will win games on a team that can win. He's the type of QB this team needs, and is def worth signing to be given a chance to take Orton's job.

Agreed...It's a shame there aren't any QB's that fit this description coming out this year.
