The end of the Indianapolis Colts’ season came down to 11 people. Not the 11 players on the field during the Super Bowl, but the 11 who showed up at Indianapolis International Airport on a cold, snowbound Monday afternoon, when the team returned following their 31-17 defeat Sunday by the New Orleans Saints at Super Bowl XLIV in Miami. “Win or lose, they’re still our team,” said Brownsburg resident Karen Calhoun, who carried a “Where’s the parade” sign. The small group huddled together in the snow outside the closed Express Mail sorting facility at the airport, where the Colts’ planes arrived around 4 p.m. Monday — a Boeing 757 for the official party and an Airbus 330 for the team. The closest any of the 11 fans got to the Colts was the other side of a security fence several hundred feet away. Despite the subdued, isolated arrival, the few who watched from a distance were still enthusiastic about their team.”We wanted to show our civil pride,” said Paul Calhoun, Karen Calhoun’s husband, who wore a No. 33 jersey, the number worn by defensive back Melvin Bullitt, who made five tackles on Sunday.”We still beat out 30 other teams,” added Marilyn Kurek, Lebanon, who wore a Colts cap and scarf to fend off the 27-degree chill. By the time the last buses had left the ramp, the few fans had already walked back to their cars and headed to someplace warm, to wait for the next season. –Indianapolis Star

Makes you wonder about these Denver Broncos fans saying it would be a nightmare if we won the Super Bowl with Josh McDaniels.

There will be 11 people in all of Orleans and Jefferson Parrish that won't be on the parade route today.

There's people that think it would be a nightmare if we won the Super Bowl? WTF? Why?

I remember back when the Lightning beat the Flames for the Stanley Cup...Twice as many people showed up for Calgary's Parade than Tampa's Parade. I think this is the ultimate measure of how good of fans your team has.

What's "civil pride"? Some special handshake that they learned from Peyton Manning or something?

BPC and the band would be out to Assassinate McD for piling on the embarrassment?

I thought Civil Pride was when you popped a boner in public.

I had lots of Civil Pride in my early teens.

Explanation point on the Saints season was the parade last night. Awesome time. They called it 'Dat Tuesday'.

Here are some pics for those that missed seeing it on NFLN. I was close to the house on St Charles. Canal Street, as always, is a lot more crowded than this.

This is about 4 hours prior to the parade rolling. People started getting their spots about 8-10 hours before. About the same as Mardi Gras day.
Rickey going in the Hall with Floyd has been an overshadowed news story down here (obviously)....a lot of people on the parade route remembered.

Parade is starting to get closer...Dancing and music going. Buzzed by some jets.....felt like Fat Tuesday.

Between bead throwing, Drew was playing catch with the crowd with footballs being thrown to him.

Sean with the Lombardi

Having Sean toting the trophy around was the right choice. I think him more than anyone...including Brees....is responsible for the Championship.

Recently The Fan had a segment of your sports nightmare and a die-hard called in and said his nightmare was the Broncos winning the Super Bowl next year because it would mean Josh sticking around. These sentiments were echoed by several callers and texters. When you have your fanbase wanting the team to lose because they hate the Head Coach so much, that's a problem.

I'm not sure how much weight to put on that though... how the hell would you know if someone is a "die hard" by them calling in?

Last one.

The parade ended almost directly in front of my house. Drew and others got off the float and stopped in at the bar across the street prior to heading over for the team party at Mardi Gras World.

Here is the video someone took. Any wonder why this City loves him?

A nightmare is Al Davis ever touching the Superbowl trophy EVER again. That would put profootball back 75 years.
