The Broncos signed offensive tackle D'Anthony Batiste off the club's practice squad to a future contract Tuesday.

Batiste, 6-feet-4, 314 pounds, was signed to the practice squad Dec. 23 after playing in eight games with the Redskins after Washington starter Chris Samuels was injured in Week 5. Batiste has played in 12 games in his NFL career. He has been on the rosters of the Cowboys, Panthers and Falcons after entering the league in 2006 as an undrafted free agent after his college career at Louisiana-Lafayette.

I have literally no opinion on the subject since I know nothing about him and I see almost no chance that he has any impact whatsoever on the team.

Looking at size and at least a modicum of talent. Look-see, anyway.....

Awesome now Joshy can trade Clady for giving him that weird look in the sauna.

I saw this guy play for the skins last year. He seems to be worth a backup spot.

Its not possible that he's worse than Polumbus is it? If not then he's worth a contract

as much as i am liking the future contracts we are giving out to large linemen, we haven't given a single future contract to an interior linemen, they have all been tackles.

as intriguing as it is getting some solid depth behind Clady and Harris, i want to see some movement at beefing up the interior.

I've always understood that its easier for tackles to move to the interior than it is for interior linemen to shift out to tackle.

Either way its an adjustment, and one that not every player can make, but overall the tackle positions are more demanding than the inside slots so a failed tackle could arguably make a decent interior lineman...in theory anyway

not saying that is what they're trying to do here - the offseason plan has only just begun - but it is a possibility, particularly if we're trying to shift to a power scheme...314lbs is big for a guard, but not actually particularly huge for a tackle....

who's to say that they won't be moving him inside to Guard

Roster moves at this point of the offseason are about competition, nothing more.

Hopefully he pans out, but if not, who cares?

He has experience, he has size, he can play several line positions. Good depth to have.

On the subject of all this "get bigger on the o-line" talk, did anyone else realize that Montrae Holland is an UFA?

Exactly. Just think of the trouble D linemen would have getting around him.

What's to say they don't plan to spend real draft value on the interior OL?

You don't waste futures spots and the like bringing in camp fodder for your 1st round selection of MIKE IUPATI! ;D
