Tomorrow is the big day. I wish I could say I am excited, but it looks like Miami's staff couldn't close in a whorehouse if they had 5000.00 in cash. Very disappointed in Randy and the staff, with all the decommits this year. Seems they will whiff on the Big 4 (Henderson, "Ego" Ferguson, IMAC and Shirley) that are still undecided and supposedly had a great visit last weekend...might get 1. Very weak job by the staff.

I almost started this thread. I'm holding out hope that NU can land Corey Cooper (it's between NU and ND) and DE Owamagbe Odighizuwa. Rivals thinks that NU has the inside track to land Owa. I hope that Bo and the boys can land these two.

I'd be shocked if Carnes doesn't end up at Western Ketucky now, despite him claiming not to have picked a couple days ago. Very strange situation there.

Owa really feels like a toss up to me. I'd put our odds there at 40-50%. I'm a bit more optimistic with Cooper. Maybe 70-80%.

I know Owa's announcement will be broadcast sometime tomorrow on one of the espn family of channels. Crazy stuff for those 18 year olds.

While I still think there is a chance Carnes picks NU. I wouldn't hold it against him if he doesn't though. We have Lee for another year, Green for another three years (maybe) and as you know Jamal Turner committed for 2011. Carnes should go where he feels like he can play.

Oh its going to be epic, epicly bad. I heard its going to be one of the weakest classes ever. All I can do is pray that the consortium ends up happening and they take the $50 million and get this on track.

Problem is the Schools leadership is too busy wanting to be ivy league and anti-sports that they fail to see what a strong athletic department and teams can do for a school.

The difference is that you probably didn't expect anything on NSD given how much Hawkins has destroyed the program. I expected for Miami to do pretty well given a 9 win season and a young team.

Instead...Florida and Florida State went right into the heart of the "State of Miami" and stepped on our *****, took our studs and laughed all the way to the bank. And then I have to put up with a garbage homer fanbase that makes excuses for this embarassment. I've heard every excuse under the sun from these losers. We've got one absolute stud WR in Ivan McCartney who is going to end up signing with ****ing West Virginia tomorrow because stupid ass Randy couldn't armtwist admissions into letting him in. This staff better beat Ohio State, Pitt, VT, GT, UNC and FSU next year and get to a BCS Bowl or they can GTFO. They've had to rely on Top 10 classes to make up for the fact that they can't coach on gameday. The only guy on the staff who can coach is Whipple and he doesn't get along at all with Shannon and will be leaving after next year. If they aren't going to get the classes to make the incompetence look only half-bad, then its going to get ugly, fast.

Mmmm. Disappointment is relative. While i'm sure you're pissed potentially losing out on a few players, you still have the 21st ranked class by Rivals currently, a host of stud players still signed up to don the green and orange, and are nationally projected to be a top 15 team next season.

CU has been gutted head to toe, ear to ear. The only thing we have is memories of a championship 20 years ago. The ****tard who was handed the reigns to this outfit is more worried about how he can get his son playing time vs. winning football games. We're a state and national laughing stock. 0 top 10 recruits landed in the state of Colorado. I know that's small peanuts to the football factory in Florida, but it makes it all the worse to me.

I couldn't be more disgusted with my two favorite football teams, and it doesn't look like there is much hope on the horizon. This crap is turning me into a baseball fan.

That seems to be the best hope we can have at this point, I guess. Pray for some help from boosters, begin the process of modernizing the program internally, and then try to hit the jackpot on the young coach market next year. Or maybe they can land a humbled Mike Leach next year, I dunno.

12:45 p.m. EST DB Demar Dorsey has shut down all contact from the media, until signing day. Dorsey recently was removed from Florida’s commit list, and is now considering Florida State, Michigan, and USC.

Dorsey has been very good at keeping his choice, or preference, a secret. All three schools seem to have a great shot at the speedy defensive back.

Michigan being the lone school in the north, has Dorsey’s cousin, Denard Robinson, on their roster, and in their corner. There has been speculation recently, though, that it may be hard to pull Dorsey from the state of Florida.

Demar will be announcing his decision on signing day at 1 p.m.

1 p.m. -- Michigan lands safety Dorsey

Demar Dorsey, the safety who once said he was 66 percent committed to Florida, will 100 percent sign with Michigan.

Dorsey, from Lauderdale Lakes, Fla., fell out of Florida's class a few weeks ago, touching off a recruiting contest among Michigan, Florida State, Tennessee and USC. If the practices for the Under Armour All-America Game in December are any indication, the Wolverines have nabbed an excellent player who will certainly keep his teammates entertained.

Dorsey was always around the ball during the all-star workouts, and if you couldn't see him, you could always hear him. It's always a good sign that a defensive back is a fantastic trash-talker when the receiver he covers finishes the play doubled over in laughter. That happened a few times during the Under Armour workouts.

Finally, National Signing Day produced a big win for the Big Ten. And a huge win for Michigan.

Safety Demar Dorsey's decision to sign with Michigan ahead of Florida State and USC is critical for a Wolverines secondary that needs to get a lot better in 2010. Ranked as the nation's No. 2 safety by ESPN's Scouts Inc., Dorsey is the type of player who can come in and contribute right away for the Wolverines. And he'll need to make an impact this season, as Michigan's struggling secondary loses top cornerback Donovan Warren to the NFL.

Michigan entered the day hoping to land two safeties, Sean Parker and Dorsey. Parker, who many believed to be the better bet for the Wolverines, picked Washington ahead of Michigan, but Wolverines fans aren't complaining now. Dorsey, who is cousins with Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson, is the nation's No. 12 player according to ESPN's Scouts Inc.

Unless offensive lineman Seantrel Henderson picks Ohio State, Dorsey will be the highest-rated recruit in the conference.

f'ing slick rick. Owa seems like a smart, thoughtful kid though, so best of luck to him there.

Wonder if we'll get someone to fill the spot we were leaving for him? Rumors were an OL from oklahoma or something. Anyway, this class was always going to be smaller in terms of number of recruits. Finished pretty solid, though landing Owa would have obviously kicked it up a notch.

Looking forward to the 2011 class, where we already have 3 guys with a shot of being in the 150.

I thought if we lost Owa at all it would be to one of his home states schools, not UCLA. Him going to UCLA over us hurts because of the impact the Pelini's brothers get out of talented D-Line players. Oh well, like you said the 2011 class has started out looking great.

I thought if we lost Owa at all it would be to one of his home states schools, not UCLA. Him going to UCLA over us hurts because of the impact the Pelini's brothers get out of talented D-Line players. Oh well, like you said the 2011 class has started out looking great.

That would be a huge get. Literally.

Then again, this seems the likely candidate this year to string his recruiting out an extra few months to generate more hype. It's happened the past few years with the Kansas HB and Pryor from OSU.

I just don't understand it. Owa is a good kid, he seems very smart. His mother didn't want him to go to far away from home so I get that part but lets be real here if you play on the D-Line I wouldn't think that UCLA would be in the same class as NU as far as coaching goes getting you ready for the NFL. I'm sure that is just the HOMER in me but I think the Pelini's do a damn good job.

OU has an excellent recruiting class. Now ranked #2 by Scout.

While being ranked No. 1 much of the year, Oklahoma fell to No. 3 as Texas and Florida added several of its top players after New Year's Day. But Oklahoma had a Signing Day surprise of its own when it plucked five-Star linebacker Corey Nelson (6-1, 200) off of Texas A&M's list, thereby drawing the ire of the Aggies and 'Horns in one move.

While the Gators and Longhorns are deep at skill position players, Oklahoma looks poised to bring some smash-mouth football back to the wide-open Big 12 with the nation's No. 1 offensive line class, featuring five signees rated four stars by Scout. Powerful interior line prospects Bronson Irwin (6-5, 315) of Mustang, Okla., and Adam Shead (6-4, 320) of Cedar Hill, Texas headline Oklahoma's top-ranked offensive-line haul.

The Sooners typically make a living recruiting the state of Texas, but Oklahoma ventured out to the left coast to pluck three top players from the San Diego area. Five-Star wide receiver Kenny Stills (6-1, 180, 4.36) and hard-hitting linebacker Tony Jefferson (6-0, 210) join five-star running back Brennan Clay (5-11, 195) to give Oklahoma three of the West Coast's top prospects and an influx of speed that could be put to use early in Norman.

Top U.S.C. Recruit Is Not Signed Yet
By THAYER EVANS
Seantrel Henderson, the highly recruited offensive lineman who announced Wednesday that he was going to Southern California, has not signed a letter of intent to play for the Trojans.

According to Henderson’s father, Sean, he will wait until U.S.C. appears before an N.C.A.A. infractions committee from Feb. 19-21 to hear about possible sanctions for the program before deciding whether to sign the letter. Though the Trojans are not likely to hear about any possible sanctions at that time, Sean Henderson said the hearing would give the family a sense of where the process was headed.

Henderson has until April 1 to sign a letter of intent. After that, Seantrel Henderson could find himself in a situation similar to Terrelle Pryor in 2008. Sean Henderson declined further comment.

Maybe but I love the way Pelini is doing things, it's only a matter of time before the O follows suit. He has been going hard on both sides of the line. The 11 class already has two legit O-line guys. Green should commit to NU as well giving us a very talented RB for the 11 class as well his brother plays for us. If all goes well that we are in line to land 4 top 150 players on O. A QB,RB, T, and a C that is a pretty good way to help our O for the future. Rankings don't mean crap in the end but it's a good start. Another thing about Owamagbe Odighizuwa not signing it means Baker Steinkuhler stays on D instead of moving back to T where he was ranked as a 5 star. He is a stud either way but we could have used him on the OL.

I do think that Mizzu is on the right path. I just would like another B12 North team to rise up as well. I'm sick of hearing about how good the South is each year. My thinking is Missouri won't be able to out recruit us that often. They rely on home grown talent more then us. Clearly we are not with the big boys but NU can still go elsewhere and get talent better then they can.

I haven't read this thread but I would like to point out that in the past four years with Medenhall as our coach, BYU has increased several spots every year in recruiting. It most recently finished ranked 22nd on Scout.com in the country ahead of such teams as Clemson, Nebraska and Wisconsin.

I know that everybody who hates USC thinks they will, and should, get sanctions equal to Alabama's, but realists know that's not going to happen. What Bush and McKnight did, they did on their own. There is no evidence that any boosters were involved or that the program even knew what was going on. Given USC's returning class and now, their success at recruiting, I doubt they miss a beat. Sean is smart to wait a while, but I doubt he has much to worry about. It just wasn't as serious as the haters make it out to be.

Crazy Mormons...

Forty years ago, BYU and Wyoming met at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie, Wyo., for a football game that turned out to be much more than a game.
It was October, 1969 -- a turbulent time in American history, with demonstrations and protests abounding around the country, sparked by the civil rights movement and the Vietnam War.
So when 14 black Wyoming football players decided to wear black armbands for the game against BYU -- to protest what they considered to be "racist practices" of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which owns and operates BYU -- and when then-Cowboys coach Lloyd Eaton decided to boot those 14 players, which included seven starters, from the team for that decision, it touched off a maelstrom of controversy and it immediately became a national story. The following week, reporters from media outlets like the New York Times and Sports Illustrated descended upon Laramie to chronicle the episode. And the ramifications of the "Black 14" incident have since resonated for decades.
