Hopefully it works out better than the last time the Broncos took a DT named Dan Williams with the 11th pick in the draft.

With the 11th pick, Denver selects Dez Bryant and then trades him to Baltimore for the 25th and 50th picks.

25th pick - Mike Iupati, G, Idaho

45th pick - Alex Carrington, DE/DT, Arkansas State

50th pick - Cam Thomas, NT, North Carolina

80th pick - Colt McCoy, QB, Texas

Broncos trade picks #111 and #143 to Cleveland for pick #92

92nd pick - J.D. Walton, C, Baylor

Why not?

IMO, he's too high at 11. but probably won't last until the second round, though I've seen some mocks that have him in the 2nd or 3rd.
He also had one good season at Tenn and I think we already have one of those. ;D

I don't think Maycock has posted his mock draft yet, he has Williams as the 4th best DT.

Weaknesses:
Extremely inconsistent --- Effort / Motor runs hot and cold --- Does not always use proper leverage --- Limited repertoire of moves --- Will not offer much as a pass rusher --- Average hand use --- Struggles to get off blocks at times --- Has serious issues with conditioning and stamina.

Strengths here--->http://www.draftcountdown.com/ScoutingReports/DT/Dan-Williams.php

# Weaknesses:
# Tends to wear down in second half
# Not always as physical as you want him to be
# Lacks flexibility and speed
# Not a pass rusher
# No move outside of bull rush
# One-year wonder possibility
# Mediocre work ethic in past

Wow! I've watched a few of his games and lots of film clips on Williams and never seen any of that. Plus, he dominated at the Senior Bowl. I don't buy it. I have to go with my own eyes on this one. Everytime I've seen him, he was a major, disruptive force.

I must admit I was surprised too.

But I didn't watch him during the season so I'm dependent upon the scouting reports.
Someone who watched TN this year would have a much better take.

Anyone?

For me, it's a no brainer for the Broncos to trade down from 11th and try and select Mike Iupati later in the first round. The Broncos really need to get a better and larger Guard on the line and they can take the guy they want lower in the first and pick up and additional 2nd round pick to help the defense. I would go with both 2nd round picks to the Dline.

Then, hopefully the Broncos can pick up Walton (C) in the late 3rd. I wouldn't be upset if they pick him with the Broncos 3rd round pick but I think they could trade down in the 3rd and get him and pick up an extra 4th rounder or they could use their own 3rd and trade their 4th and 5th rounders to move up in the 4th really high and take a chance that Walton will be there in the high 4th round.

That they do my friend. But what else can you do? If you think they team should move down for somebody else, you call it. It's no different then picking a player you like at the given spot. Nobody knows if that player will be there or not. None of it is a given so just enjoy the speculation and guessing.

Unless Suh, McCoy, McLain or Bradford fall to us (which won't happen)

trading down from #11 to a mid first round pic does make sense.

#25 though is risky, though. Iupati might be gone by then. Some mocks have Philly taking him at #24.

This draft is packed. No reason to trade down. An excellent player will be available at 10 or 11.

The reason to trade down is BECAUSE this draft is packed. Gaining an extra 2nd in this draft could easily make up for the talent discrepancy between the 11th and 25th pick. The depth is the reason that moving down would be a great move if you aren't absolutely enamored with a guy that is available. It is also why it isn't going to be easy to do.

Jets are on the clock.

Well if other posters can do it, so can I.

I think the Jets should trade down with the Broncos for their 2nd rounder this year and next. Then the Broncos select somebody.

"Trade down" = "world peace"...nice idea, but it takes a little more than just saying it should happen.

With the 11th pick in the 2010 Orange Mane Consensus Mock draft for February, The Denver Broncos select:

11. Denver Broncos - Dan Williams, NT, Tennessee

I OBJECT! We already drafted a Dan Williams DT in the first round once!!!!!

He didn't work out, and went to the Chiefs after a couple years....
