View Full Version : Sarah kicked off the short-list
I am may be one of the few here that has stood up for her… (that I remember anyway.) I have never felt like she understood (fully) why she believed in certain things, but I have agreed with many of the things she states she believes in...
But I think she has revealed something to me, that makes me cringe, and will make the Tea Party/Constitution oriented folks go another direction – if they hear more about it.
I can understand why she compromised and ran with McCain, but I guess she still is openly trying to help him get reelected? I heard her on Glenn Beck – last week and I cant see how someone could still support McCain as he really admires folks like Teddy Roosevelt – who was a Republican Progressive. Progressive – does not historically mean (a progressing thinking person on social issues.) I spent quite a bit of time reading up on T.R. and was surprised how progressive he actually was – how willing to throw the Constitution to the side, and take power for the executive branch of the government.
When he was running against Woodrow Wilson – Wilson was arguably the more conservative of the two – and Wilson turned out to be a nightmare, incarcerating 1000’s of political prisoners, segregating the military, and many federal jobs etc.
I guess I am down to Ron Paul...could somebody inject some personality into him?

I can't vote for Paul. He believes in an open border and with terrorism, that's a stupid position.

McCain brought Palin into the national spotlight. I see no problem in helping him get re-elected as a "thank you"...

Not sure on the open boarder stance, and what he has said -- he obvioisly does not "believe in" terrorism, he may not be willing to spend as much as you think he should on the military. I also think he is weak on this point -- but another consideration is -- if we have hyper-inflation -- because we dont cut back accross the board, how does that make us stronger? In my opinion, under those conditions, we would be under as great a threat as we have had since the Civil War.
I just wish that when we decide go to war, that Congress would declair war -- is that too much to ask for anymore?

I get it it, but I think she should only be accountable to the Constitution & McCain's policies violate that document too much. When one is on a cliff, you do not comprimise your footing. After 100 years of progressivism, we have comprimised ourselves to the brink of the death of our Republic. When the President feels like he can appoint Mao supporters and Communists, and that he can spend $ at insane levels with the intention to create an inflation crisis. The time of giving up ground is over for me -- Palin quite possibly has not even read the Constitution, much less the history of the early 20th century progressive movement -- again I like her, but "like" wont cut it in times like these.

My biggest problem with Palin is that she seems indoctrinated, it goes back your original post, she believes in things but she doesn't know why - she just seems like she has at some point been made to believe or been told to believe and never questioned it.
Believing is fine, but you have to constantly question the reasons for your belief, if you believe the earth is flat because you don't see it being round, then that is fine, but if you then go on a flight and you see it being rounded, you have to question why you think the earth is flat.
The problem with believing because you were told to believe or made to believe and never questioning, is that you invariably end up in unresolvable contradictions and you end up being unable to make complex decisions because they will violate something you believe, that is fine when you are a road worker or a bus driver, but when you are at the top of heap you have to make decisions, and if you can't you are going to cause more problems than you are going to solve.

Ok. But are you fine with a President that wants to destroy the economy, does not honor checks and ballances, the Constitution, and has appointed open Communists to positions of power?

I cant disagree with your point. If a person takes position Y -- and you happen to take that same position --and you elect a person who cannot defend the position well and has not read deeply, and thought deeply about it (lets say the value of limited government) an enemy of this stance can shread her in a Nation-wide forum, and: #1 not only the validity of position is weakened in the public's eye, #2 but those who value the principle are discredited and lumped into the same ignorant/uneducated camp...

WTF? Hilarious! Are you deliberately lying or just totally clueless? Either way, you've lost all credibility.
Ron Paul’s six point plan puts a stop to illegal immigration:
Physically secure our borders and coastlines. We must do whatever it takes to control entry into our country before we undertake complicated immigration reform proposals.
Enforce visa rules. Immigration officials must track visa holders and deport anyone who overstays their visa or otherwise violates U.S. law. This is especially important when we recall that a number of 9/11 terrorists had expired visas.
No amnesty. Estimates suggest that 10 to 20 million people are in our country illegally. That’s a lot of people to reward for breaking our laws.
No welfare for illegal aliens. Americans have welcomed immigrants who seek opportunity, work hard, and play by the rules. But taxpayers should not pay for illegal immigrants who use hospitals, clinics, schools, roads, and social services.
End birthright citizenship. As long as illegal immigrants know their children born here will be citizens, the incentive to enter the U.S. illegally will remain strong.
Pass true immigration reform. The current system is incoherent and unfair. But current reform proposals would allow up to 60 million more immigrants into our country, according to the Heritage Foundation. This is insanity. Legal immigrants from all countries should face the same rules and waiting periods.
