Plummer
Orton/Cutler (Tie)
Griese

Had to go with the tie since they are pretty much interchangeable. :welcome:

Especially his last start.

Orton, by far. He basically combines the best attributes of Griese (accuracy, smarts) and Plummer (leadership, arm strength) and had a pretty good first year here.

Cutler is a douchebag and a traitor to this franchise and it's fans, thus he is barely worthy of being on this list. That, and I got real ****ing sick of him throwing dumb**** interceptions and consistently collapsing in the clutch.

I think Plummer is the only one who won a playoff game and he also had the most wins so he would be the logical choice. I think this list clearly shows how bad at QB we have been since Elway.

I disagree. Griese was looking great pre-injury, we made the playoffs 3 of the 4 years that Plummer was here and Cutler probably would have been the answer if his head was screwed on straight.

I'm pretty sure the low point of the Griese Years was when he killed Our Lord And Savior, the Great Terrell Davis. or at least when he got drunk and tripped over his dog. or that time he threw the ball at the miami end that was trying to sack him out of fright only to have it picked off. or--

yeah. not that guy.

the answer is Cutler, sorry. Plummer is second. I attribute most of his success to Shanahan.

Griese - 100 QB rating and a playoff berth in 2000.

Plummer - 3 playoff appearances in 4 years, with 1 win.

Cutler - No playoffs, losing record

Plummer, those boot legs were something, I would laugh because the other team was faked out so bad.

He lacked the long ball but I loved his moblilty.

2005 was a great year, 03 wasn't bad either.

We kicked the **** out of the Chargers and Raiders.

I remember the bootleg he ran in for a TD.

Score was something like 43-17.

On week two of the 2001 season, Griese had a 90% approval rating with Broncos fans. Following his Pro Bowl year when he posted a 19/3 TD-INT ratio, he started 2001 with a 2-0 record and a 6-0 TD-INT ratio.

The next week Griese struggled against Baltimore and it just snowballed downward from that point on.

yeah, the problem with Griese is that when he lost it he lost it <i>quickly</i>. the dude had no fortitude. I remember watching him in 2002 and just thinking <i>what the hell happened</i>. he didn't even resemble the QB that started out promising.

but I never completely fell for him, even for that brief period of time (early 01...?) when he was generating serious MVP buzz. he killed TD and comparisons to Montana are a real no-no for me.

And the problem with Plummer is it was 100% smoke and mirrors. He flat out could not throw a pass in the pocket. At all. You just couldn't tell him to take a 3, 5, 7 step drop, read the field and do something productive with the ball. Shanahan and Kubiak worked complete wonders with that offense. I have no idea how Shanahan didn't win coach of the year in '05.

i say Plummer because in wins, playoff appearances, and stats he is the undisputed best of the bunch.

now if Orton gets a long term deal I will change my vote to him, because I really like Orton. he combines the best aspects of Griese and Plummer and is a good QB in need of just a little bit of trust and a little longer leash.

it's just that right now with the uncertainty of whether or not he will be here prevents me from naming him my favorite.

1. Plummer - without a doubt was the best QB we've had since the great one left. Wins, Playoff win and playoff appearances.

2. Greise - Sad, and it says a lot about the quality of QBing we've had, but his 2000 season was far better than what else we've had.

3. Orton - First year in the system, I'd like to see what he's got with a full off season of learning plus no zipper-finger for the first few games.

6. Cutler - The ultimate garbage time QB, anytime there was something to play for, he choked it away.

Back to Jake, I just liked his moxie. He made some bad throws, but was able to shake it off and he won a ton of games in Denver....including the lone playoff win in the post-Elway era.

No surprise you picked Orton. I would have to go with Jake. He brought an excitment that we hadn't had in Denver throughout the Greasemonkey era. He brought winning football and a good competitive spirit. I think he was by far the best QB as far as on field production Denver has had since Elway. It is too soon to grade Orton in my opinion.

Plummer.

He was a better quarterback than some thought he was. Dude won games and stood up to Shanny and his BS. Some blamed him for the AFC Championship, but that was on Shanny and his lack of pass protection...not to mention the third down defense.

I tried to like Griese...it ws just too soon after Elway.

Kyle Orton won me over during the preseason. His play, while not "SuperStar", is solid and he's proven to be a leader. One more solid season and he could take the spot over Plummer.

Cutler...I hated him at first, then started to like him, then I saw his imature antics and started to hate him again. Once he wanted to jump ship after the head coach change...well he was on my Hate-Forever list.

I also mentioned that I wanted Plummer and he was an UFA. I think you have to add Pro-bowl under Cutler, as well as team record for Yardage etc.

He by far had the most talent of any of them and we delt him before we could develop him further.

For me:

Cutler
Plummer
Orton
Griese

To be honest, I loved Plummer...I thought we should have allowed him to finish out the season and get us in the playoffs and then opened it up to competition the following year. Don't get me wrong...good Jake/bad Jake was a pain in the ass...but he was fun.

Cutler played his ass off for us...he had zero defense and had to try to do everything (same as in Chicago IMO). Yes, his personality sucks and his leadership is questionable.

Orton - He's a good guy and an o.k. QB. He's nothing spectacular, but better than the alternative at the moment. The plus on Orton...he doesn't often throw the pick sixes! He's a system guy and that's it.

Griese - I was a big fan...but he was a statue in the pocket and couldn't throw the ball down the field well enough...too hesitant to make plays. typical system QB...ala Orton.

Man, thinking about some of these guys brings back memories. I was really high on Griese his first couple seasons. That Raiders game when he shredded his shoulder really should be legendary, but he was never the same, and his legacy has suffered for it. Not to mention he kinda became an emo dick (something i think he grew out of eventually, but not here).

I was all about Plummer when he came in, and still am actually. I don't know if I've ever found a player so easy to root for before. He was the kind of guy I wanted to be teammates with.
