View Full Version : Who's your Huckleberry in this draft

Someone semi-unknown at least, for instance a 3rd+ rounder possibly.

I like Kenny Alfred coming out of my school, WSU. He's a Center, smart, strong, and has a mean streak. Never gives up, and plays with a huge motor.

I've kind of settled on Dan Williams, DT, Tennessee. Of course, that's based on Suh, McCoy, McClain, Berry et al going before our pick. I'm hearing good things about Williams at Senior Bowl practice. He's been unstoppable. Since Cody showed up at 370, I've crossed him off my wish list. He's gained 15 pounds since the season ended.

Antonio Brown, Central Michigan. Extremely gifted wide receiver and an excellent returner. Was averaging 24+ on punt returns this year earlier on in the season. Reminds me of Greg Jennings in many ways, but a much better returner. Good hands, disciplined, solid routes. Look for him to go somewhere in the fourth or fifth round. I think he can move on up though!

Nice, I'm on board with a Greg Jennings-esque WR. He totally helped me win my fantasy championship lol.

Would be a great replacement for Marshall imo. What's his size look like?

He's listed at 5'11 -- 175 on the Chip's official site, but I'm guessing he's a little shorter and lighter. He isn't as bulky as Jennings, but he has great quickness off the line like he does. You see a lot of similarity in their games. Some have said he's more DeSean Jackson like, given his return ability and blazing speed, but I don't know if he is deserving of such high accolades as a prospect -- although he's very good.

This is a great WR class, so guys like him may go unnoticed for a while, but after the bowl performance and his special team abilities as a returner, his value is evident. I would be fine with him as early as round three, but no sooner than that. He'd be a great third option (slot guy) for us. Explosive.

I'd have put him more around a Royal and Jackson then as well. Jennings is exceptional due to his size, he wins most jump balls because he's like 6'5'' but he does have speed to go with it.

Jacoby Ford, he is a smallish WR who runs good routes has pretty decent hands and is biblically fast, I am fully expecting this kid to run a sub 4.35 in the 40 in Indy. He was a finalist in the NCAA 100m sprint.

Barry Turner 6'3" 265 from the Nebraska Cornhuskers :) 6th or 7th round I'm not sure if he is even projected to go in the draft at all. He had a OK enough year coming back from his injury. 49 tackles and 5 sacks. He was hyped coming to NU out of Tennessee and as a freshman he had 6 sacks his first year and then never really did live up to the hype. He has good size for the 3-4 though.

Curtis Steele, RB from Memphis.

http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=71934&draftyear=2010&genpos=RB

They have him estimated at a 4.49 forty for a 6'0", 190 pound back. Obviously he needs to put on some more weight, but the kid is a great player. First team all C-USA, limited body of work as a JUCO transfer, but the kid put up 1239 yards and 15 TDs last season. He is second in all kinds of school records, including career records (impressive given he played for only 2 years), second of course behind Deangelo Williams.

Check him out at the Texas vs Nation game.

Vastly underutilized due to incompetence at the QB position for the Illini. Showed up well on Monday 1/25/10 Sr. Bowl practice beating both LB's and S's regularly in receiving drills as well as showing competency as a blocker.

Been beating the drum for this guy forever. Thought he could go as high as the 4th, but could slip to the 6th or 7th. I'd LOVE to have him on the team.

Hard worker, great teammate, speed and skill. Return man or slot receiver. Compares very favorably with Wes Welker; has the nearly the same speed, and is a bit taller than Welker.

I am beginning to think one of these two will be our pick. Especially in Marshall is moved. If Marshall is moved, I hope we get at least 2 picks in the first through third rounds, as I wonder what his real value is, I could be way surprised, or way disappointed.

I think Dez Bryant may be one McDaniels wants.

Also, do not be surprised if McDaniels trades both Royal and Marshall, and starts anew. Royal is a true pro, but not sure that McDaniels sees that in him.

Agree on LaFell - he has kind of been forgotten a little bit but I think he will emerge at the combine. He was not in a good situation for a WR with LSU's passing game and a lot of the underclassmen are getting the publicity right now. I could see us looking his way if he slides to us in Round 2.
