View Full Version : JaMarcus Russell Announced as Mobile's Mardi Gras King

As a distraction from all the Bronco drama, here is some humor at the Raiders expense:

Oakland Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell doesn't get a lot of respect in the Bay Area, or anywhere else for that matter. Even if he's persona non grata in Oakland, though, there's one place where he's unquestionably the king. That would be his home town of Mobile, Ala., where Russell will preside over Mardi Gras as King Elexis I. The Mobile Area Mardi Gras Association made that announcement on Tuesday.

"Okay," you're thinking. "The NFL's least accurate quarterback is the king of Mardi Gras in his hometown. Don't Mardi Gras celebrations usually include a parade? And don't they usually throw things during those parades?" Oh, the irony.

Just in case you're wondering, yes, there's a Mardi Gras parade in Mobile; yes, they throw many things during that parade; and no, I wouldn't be particularly surprised to read headlines like "Dozens Injured, Hundreds of Windows Smashed in Mobile by Errantly Thrown Mardi Gras Trinkets."

Brees is the King of Bacchus this year. His throws will be much more accurate.

Russell must be honored to be a float in this year's Mardi Gras parade...
